4 men arrested in connection to shooting death of 21-year-old

MONETTA, S.C. (WJBF) – Four men have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of Remedee Jennings-Leaphart, 21.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Latrez Nicholson, 20, Zayvion Abner, 20, Demarion Morris, 19, and Wondrecus Brunson, 23, were arrested by investigators in connection with Leaphart’s death with all four being charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

“Investigators and the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office worked tirelessly on this case,” said Aiken County Sheriff Marty Sawyer. “Their hard work has led to the arrest of 4 suspects.” 

According to authorities, deputies responded to the 100 block of Pine Circle in Monetta, South Carolina in response to shots being fired.

Deputies say Leaphart was taken to a medical clinic in Bateburg-Leesville where he was taken by ambulance to Lexington Medical Center.

Authorities state that Leaphart was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. 

Investigators say that additional charges may be forthcoming as this investigation is ongoing.

Leaphart was a star football player at Ridge Spring-Monetta leading the Trojans to the state quarterfinals his senior season, and played for Team South Carolina for Border Bowl IX in 2022.
