MK Party responds to Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s ‘divisive’ X posts

UMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) Party says the X posts made by party leader Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla insulting secretary-general Floyd Shivambu are unacceptable and constitute a direct violation of the party’s disciplinary code of conduct.

On Monday night, 10 February, Zuma-Sambudla, who was recently charged with incitement of violence for the July 2021 unrest, took to X (formerly Twitter) and insulted Shivambu, calling him useless and the worst thing that has ever happened to the MK Party.

In a series of posts Zuma-Sambudla accused Shivambu who joined the party in August 2024 after resigning from the EFF of being useless and a newcomer to the party.

“Floyd, I’m not scared of you. Tell your minions to f*ck off. Bloody Mafikizolo’s,” she posted on X.

MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said such actions are unacceptable, divisive, denigrating, and offensive. They undermine the principles of unity, respect, and discipline that are fundamental to its values.

Ndhlela said on response, party leader Jacob Zuma, has ordered his daughter to:

  • Issue an unconditional public apology to the secretary-general, the president, members, supporters of uMkhonto weSizwe, and all the people of South Africa.
  • Extend formal apologies to all structures she serves in or leads, including the Southern Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament.

“Following this, an internal disciplinary process will be initiated in accordance with the MK Party constitution, code of conduct and all relevant prescripts.

“Failure to comply with this directive will result in immediate consequences, including the summary termination of Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s membership in the MK Party and her recall from all party responsibilities,” Ndhlela said.
