Orlando Pirates REJECT R26m bid for Relebohile Mofokeng!

Orlando Pirates have reportedly rejected a multi-million offer for one of their key players in youngster Relebohile Mofokeng

Mofokeng became a huge headache for Pirates, with multiple clubs looking in his direction in the previous transfer window.

Before the window even began, Mofokeng was linked with a move to Barcelona ‘B’. Although those links got many excited, for obvious reasons, they appeared rather exaggerated. It was later revealed the link was a Barcelona coach asking former AmaZulu coach Pablo Martin about the Pirates star.

Mofokeng linked with several clubs

After those links, Al Ahly were the next club to be linked to Mofokeng. It was reported that they saw him as a top player who can help them in the FIFA Club World Cup. Pirates then reportedly said he is not for sale. Further reports in Egypt went on to claim that it was agents who were pushing for the move and not the Red Devils.

The last club to show interest was also from North Africa. It was claimed that Wydad Casablanca had a tempting offer under consideration by Pirates. In the end, those rumours were as far fetched as they sounded. The latest report of more interest from North Africa seems more concrete, however. According to Soccer-Laduma, Zamalek had a 25.8 million offer rejected!

Pirates reject R25.8 million bid from Zamalek

“The Siya crew can confirm that on the Anal day of the Egyptian transfer market, 8 February, Zamalek submitted a formal offer to the Sea Robbers for Mofokeng’s services, which was understood to be worth $1.4 million (R25.8 million). Like Pirates, the North African giants are in contention to win domestic and continental honours and were looking to reinforce their squad before heading into the second half of the campaign. Mofokeng is believed to be a prime target for Zamalek, but this publication has been informed that the 1996 African champions rejected the offer for the youngster.” Wrote the publication.
