Trump Unveils Controversial Plan to Buy and Own Gaza Amid International Criticism

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to “buy and own” Gaza, suggesting that other Middle Eastern countries could be involved in rebuilding parts of the territory under U.S. supervision.

Trump emphasized that the U.S. would ensure Hamas does not return to Gaza, describing it as a “demolition site” with nothing left for people to return to.

He also stated that Palestinians would not have a right of return under his plan, instead proposing the creation of safe communities elsewhere for them.

Trump’s proposal has faced significant criticism from Palestinians and Arab nations. Hamas has condemned Trump’s remarks, stating that Gaza is not a commodity to be bought or sold but an integral part of Palestinian land.

In his interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier, Trump promised to build “beautiful communities” for the Palestinians of Gaza.

“Could be five, six, could be two. But we’ll build safe communities, a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is. In the meantime, I would own this,” he said.

“Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent.”

He then explained that the Palestinians would have no right to return to Gaza because their lives would be “much better” elsewhere, contradicting Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who told reporters last week that the relocations would be temporary during reconstruction.

“If they have to return now, it’ll be years before you could ever – it’s not habitable,” Trump said.

Trump first revealed the shock Gaza plan during a joint news conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, drawing outrage from Palestinians.

Arab countries like Egypt and Jordan have rejected any plans for displacing Palestinians from their land, emphasizing their commitment to a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Hamas’ Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya in a statement on Monday said that the plans of the West, the United States and US President Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip were “doomed.”

“We will bring them down as we brought down the projects before them,” he said during a commemoration of the 46th anniversary of the Iranian revolution in Tehran.
