Sundowns Cardoso coach unhappy

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is feeling aggrieved after losing his first game in the Betway Premiership.

TS GALAXY SHOCK MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

A first-half goal from TS Galaxy’s Kemogelo Sebelebele delivered coach Cardoso’s first loss in the Betway Premiership in eight matches. According to the Portuguese mentor, playing four games in nine days cost Sundowns the result.

“I emphasise that the players gave their best but they could not do more. It was inhumane to play a fourth match in 72 hours,” said Cardoso via the Citizen.

“We were not able to define the game in moments where we could’ve scored there weren’t many moments but the ones we had, we hit the post with Lucas (Ribeiro) and it could have changed the game but we didn’t. The setback at halftime was hard to come back from.

“I tried to change the team to give new energy to the players but I felt that in the second half, the team was completely off in terms of proper energy. Even the approach from a technical approach was not the best because of the fatigue and neurologically, the players were at their limit for sure. They wanted it but they could not do it,” concluded the Sundowns trainer.

CLUB WORLD CUP EVENT UPSETS MIGUEL CARDOSO

Mamelodi Sundowns are proud to be heading to the FIFA Club World Cup in June, but coach Miguel Cardoso was not pleased with last week’s marketing event.

As reported across local media last Friday, the FIFA Club World Cup marketing team visited Sundowns’ training base for a photo shoot session with the trophy. The event was hours before Kabo Yellow came up against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership.

“Believe me, yesterday I was so pissed off, so pissed off! said Cardoso as quoted by IDiski Times. “Because we had the day to think about the World Cup when we should be thinking about Pirates. I was not happy believe me because I know what we have ahead. And for us ahead is always the next match. I don’t think about Champions League at all. I don’t think about the World Cup…

“I just had to cope with activities that allow us to prepare for these moments, but our daily lives next day, next day, next day, next day!

“So, today we analyse, we see the contacts we take the decisions to win tomorrow, and tomorrow is the training session to grow,” concluded the Sundowns mentor.
