Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero is back in South Africa, and could be set for a sensational return to the PSL.
According to iDiski Times, Serero is set to start training with Cape Town City under the watchful eye of newly appointed coach Muhsin Ertugral.
Of course, the duo knows each other very well having worked together many years ago at Ajax Cape Town.
Serero, 34, last kicked a ball in a competitive match in June 2024, but he has been training to keep fit.
The former Ajax Amsterdam attacker was last on the books of Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Serero left the South African shores in 2011 as one of the top local exports to ply his trade in Europe with Amsterdam.
He has also played for the likes of Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and Al-Jazira FC in the UAE.
Prior to his departure to the Netherlands in 2011, Serero was the most decorated player in the PSL in terms of individual awards.
He had swept clean at the PSL Awards with four accolades to his name, including the Footballer of the Season award.
He won 43 international caps with Bafana Bafana since making his debut on 9 February 2011 and scored just twice.

“Former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Thulani Serero is back in South Africa and is set to start training with Cape Town City,” reads part of the report.
“iDiski Times has it on good authority that the South African international arrived in Mzansi a few days ago and is set to sweat it out at The Citizens under the watchful eye of interim coach Muhsin Ertugral even though there haven’t been formal talks about a potential deal.”
