Yellowjackets fans – you might want to have a bucket to hand when you watch the latest season.

Today, most aptly on Valentine’s Day, season 3 of the phenomenally-popular TV series has dropped on Paramount Plus via Amazon Prime Video.

The thriller became a huge hit when it first launched in 2022, following a group of teenage girls in a soccer team who are stranded in the wilderness and go to extreme measures to survive in the 1990s, and then flashing forward to their adult selves in the 2020s.

Ahead of the release of the third season, Metro spoke to acclaimed actresses Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci about what audiences can expect.

The stars play Shauna Shipman and Misty Quigley respectively, who have both been on rollercoaster journeys since the start in both timelines.

After season two eventually saw the teenagers descend into full-blown cannibalism in the wilderness, Christina, 45, admitted that there ‘could be some nausea’ once again for people who watch the new episodes.

‘I wouldn’t watch it with dinner or lunch,’ Melanie, 47, chimed in.

After Christina suggested that fans should only watch season three with a meal if they have a ‘strong stomach’, Melanie shared that she personally wouldn’t be able to handle it.

‘I would be fine. It doesn’t bother me,’ Wednesday star Christina said, before adding: ‘I mean, there’s one scene that I think will bother me, but I haven’t seen it yet.’

So putting aside any potential horror-induced vomiting from people who decide to watch the latest season, how might fans feel by the time they reach the end?

‘I think they’re going to be exhausted because so much happens, it’s insane,’ Christina revealed.

The Last of Us’ Melanie pointed out that the second half of the season takes things even more up a notch, saying that it’s going to get ‘absolutely crazy’.

Her co-star stressed that the new episodes that have just dropped are ‘bonkers, shocking and so entertaining’.

‘I remember reading the last scene of this season and feeling exhilarated, and also like I’ve been through it,’ she stated.

‘It’s kind of thrilling, really. There’s answers. So there’s a feeling of being satiated.’

However, while fans might feel satisfied by major mysteries finally being answered, they might find themselves screaming at their screens over the deaths of certain characters.

Even Melanie confessed that she was ‘angry’ by some of the storylines that developed.

‘Some people die that I didn’t want to die, I will tell you,’ Christina agreed.

Aside from Yellowjackets, another globally-popular show that the film and TV star has been involved in as of late was Wednesday on Netflix, which saw her return to the Addams Family-universe.

While she previously played Wednesday Addams as a child star, this time around Jenna Ortega took the titular role, while Christina portrayed her teacher Ms Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates.

After Laurel suffered a grisly fate at the end of season one, could viewers expect to see her return to the gothic tale?

‘I don’t know! Am I in season two? Who knows?! I can’t wait to find out myself,’ she answered cryptically.

Yellowjackets is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video through Paramount Plus.
