Sundowns coach Cardoso to shuffle his squad

Will Mamelodi Sundowns follow Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs into the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals?

NEDBANK CUP: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS VS MPHENI HOME DEFENDERS

Kabo Yellow will face Limpopo-based ABC Motsepe League club Mpheni Home Defenders at 15:00 from the Lucas Moripe Stadium. “We have to fight to get a good result but most of all, we need to understand the moment,” Sundowns coach Cardoso said via Vodacom Soccer. “The moment is for us to provide opportunities for players that haven’t played and rest the ones that are really tired and need to recover.

“We also need to perform at the highest level in order to get the result so our focus is to first get the result and go further in the competition. Second one, it’s to build a team that is as strong as possible. We should also analyse the players that can cope with the situation in order to play this match and also look further ahead to what we have coming.”

“They’re a team that comes with an ambition and a dream, but it’s our job not to allow that dream to become a true goal. We need to focus on what we have to do in the match and face it in a more serious way,” added the Sundowns trainer.

SPHELELE MKHULISE TO LEAVE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has reportedly attracted interest beyond Mzansi boarders.

According to Soccer Laduma, the 28-year-old midfielder is targeted by Algerian giants CR Belouizdad and an unnamed Belgian club.

PRAISE FROM TEBOHO MOKOENA

Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena believe Sphelele Mkhulise has some Andries Iniesta in him.

“I’m a very big fan of Siphelele Mkhulise,” Mokoena told iDiski Times. “I’ve been a huge fan of him, ever since I saw him first play at Black Leopards. I just love how his natural style, everything is natural, so effortless, and when you train with him. I see him every day and this boy is so good.

“I think I don’t know if it’s him sleeping on himself or whoever, or people who don’t see this quality I see. Maybe it’s because he’s grown up there,” added the Sundowns midfield maestro.

“It’s always like that when you’re in one team until you retire, they think ‘ah this one is this or that’ but I love him and how he plays,” added Mokoena.

“I’ve just always been a fan of him even before he was my teammate. He’s so good, man, he’s more Sipho Mbule-style, or like Iniesta, he’s an Iniesta. He can dribble past people, he can pass – he’s so good. Ai yai, yai. I enjoy watching him with the ball, connecting with defenders, midfield, attack,” concluded the Sundowns midfielder.
