Actress and singer Itumeleng Bokaba is making headlines against the backdrop of his recent press release.
The singer took to social media to reveal that she has withdrawn her rape charges against music executive Nota Baloyi.
ITUMELENG BOKABA DROPS RAPE CASE AGAINST NOTA BALOYI
Last year in September, the actress opened a case against Nota at the Douglasdale police station. Against the charges, Nota has been before the courts for alleged rape.
In a now-viral press release, the former Rhythm City actress said she is withdrawing from the case to pursue a huge career opportunity.
Part of the statement reads, “I have recently been presented with an amazing career opportunity, one that I never saw coming, but that I know is truly aligned with my purpose.
“This project requires my full focus and dedication and for me to remain in a positive headspace so that I can give it my best. For this reason, I have decided to withdraw my case at this time to focus fully on this exciting new chapter.”
In her statement, she made it known that her decision does not reflect her experience or the charges but rather a desire to commit to this new chapter in her life completely.
Itumeleng Bokaba added, “However, this does not mean that the case has been dismissed or that my experience is invalid. I remain firm in my truth and will revisit the case at a later stage when I am in a better position to do so.”
The actress revealed that she plans to review the matter whenever she is in a better position to do so.
‘IT WAS CONSENSUAL’
Against the allegations, the media established that in 2017, the actress contacted Nota Baloyi for contact details of one of the popular hip-hop stars.
Years later, the two started flirting, and house visits were initiated. However, last year, Nota Baloyi admitted having shared the bed with the actress, but it was consensual.
He has it that he never forced himself on the actress, as alleged. “We were into [sic] a relationship, and she demanded that we go public about it. She also stated that she wanted to meet my parents.
“It happened in my house, and my nephew, who is 23, was there. This was our first encounter but not the first romantic one [sic],” Nota Baloyi told Sunday World.
