AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- The company is offering programs to eligible energy customers that may be struggling with bills to start the year.
An official with Georgia Power, Stephen King, recommends you use a tool called ‘My Power Usage’.
“That tool actually allows you to track daily usage, set alerts for yourself if you get over a certain threshold you may set, project your bill to where it really gives our customers the ability to see what they’re doing at their homes, their routines, new practices they may put in place, how and really that it does affect their bill at the end of the day.” King says.
Two of the programs that can help you save money and energy are the ‘Energy Assistance for Saving and Efficiency (EASE)’ and the ‘Income Qualified’ programs.
King explains more about how these programs can assist you, “The EASE program, is for qualifying customers to allow them access to free home energy upgrades. We also have expanded our income qualified discounts… where qualifying customers based on income levels are eligible for monthly credits on their bill.”
He also says they have many partnerships with organizations both locally and across the state for utility assistance, food, shelter or counseling.
King says, “It’s just making sure our customers feel empowered to understand their bill, to see that the practices they put in place can have an impact, and to give them the tool they need to manage their particular lifestyle.”
Some of the best ways to save money and energy are optimizing heat efficiency, checking your installation, adjusting your thermostat and utilizing natural heat.
“Affordability and assistance and efficiency are the top of mind for our customers, their top of mind for us, that’s why we put programs like this in place for our customers benefit at the end of the day.” he says.
