Mere hours away (live at 22h00 South African time) from the 2025 F1 season launch – the first ever collective unveiling of all ten teams – and insiders believe ‘hardcore’ fans may be disappointed. Taking place at a sold-out O2 arena in London, Liberty Media organised a massive 2025 F1 season launch that all drivers, teams and bosses must attend. You can watch it live on F1’s YouTube channel (link below) …
2025 F1 SEASON LAUNCH
Traditionally, the usual approach is for all ten teams to individually take the wraps off their new cars, liveries in their own time. Last season, reigning chamption Max Verstappen famously joked that he hoped he would ‘be sick’ for the 2025 F1 season launch. “It’s cool for a lot of fans, and it’s a big thing for Formula 1. But I’d rather be at home and relaxing and preparing for the season,” commented McLaren’s Lando Norris.
As for ‘hardcore’ F1 fans, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admits they may be disappointed. Purely because the teams will only actually be revealing their respective 2025 liveries on old show cars. “Of course, there will be lots of media buzz around it, but maybe some of the hardcore F1 fans will be a little bit disappointed at not seeing the end-product,” said Wolff.
CARS WILL EVOLVE ANYWAY

However, the truth is fans will not see the ‘real’ product until the end of testing anyway, when full Melbourne-spec 2025 cars are dialled in. “At least the fans will like it. You know, I’d also rather not have sprint races either, but the data says that fans like them, too. F1 is a data-driven sport, and if the data says it’s good, then let’s give it a try,” Wolff said.
Likewise, Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur weighed-in on the 2025 F1 season launch. “It’s not the first time teams will launch a ‘new’ car which is actually from the previous year. We’ve all launched a car with fake parts in the past. I think it’s more for the fans and we don’t always have to criticise everything,” said Vasseur. Each team has seven minutes allocated for their respective portion of the 2025 F1 season launch event.
Haas’ Esteban Ocon admits he is looking forward to seeing all ten new liveries in a single event. “As a fan of the sport, honestly, it’s a pain to be watching a new livery reveal every other day. I think it’s much better organised than how it was before, when two teams were having the launch on the same day maybe. So, I’m actually looking forward to it,” concluded Ocon. – with GMM
