Kentucky Fried Chicken is getting the heat after announcing that it is moving its headquarters to Texas.

Within hours of KFC’s parent company going public on the relocation from Louisville to Plano, ‘Texas Fried Chicken’ was trending on X (formerly Twitter).

‘Tf??? Texas Fried Chicken don’t even sound right. The colonel is rolling in his grave,’ wrote one X user, referring to KFC’s late founder, Colonel Harland David Sanders.

Another user commented: ‘Are they changing the name to Texas Fried Chicken TFC?’

Employees will get relocation aid over the six-month period of the process.

‘These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders,’ stated Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs.

‘Ultimately, bringing more of our people together on a consistent basis will maximize our unrivaled culture and talent as a competitive advantage.

As of Tuesday, KFC had 114 locations nationwide including 21 in Louisville.

The KFC Foundation and Yum! Brands will keep their corporate offices in Louisville.

Yum! Brands added that ‘to commemorate its deep-rooted history in Kentucky’, it will give a $1million endowment to the College of Business at the University of Louisville for school scholarships.

Beside fast food lovers, others were not pleased by the news.

‘This city should do everything in its power to become a business friendly city. However, if KFC doesn’t give a crap about us I don’t know why we should reciprocate. Call it Texas Fried Chicken and make it official,’ wrote Louisville Metro Councilman Anthony Piagentini on X.

‘Let’s find companies that want to be here and support them.’

The relocation comes just days after casual diner chain Denny’s confirmed that it will close 38 more locations in addition to the 150 it previously announced would be shuttered.
