A van has driven into pro-Palestine protestors outside Cardiff University.
A video shared to Instagram by CUTV shows the moment a van drove into protesters blocking the road outside of Cardiff University’s Centre for Student Life during a university event this afternoon (19h February).
One protester can be seen falling to the ground after being hit by the vehicle, resulting in people placing their hands on the van in an attempt to stop it.
A number of bystanders can also be seen walking over to check on the protestors, filming whilst doing so.
Social media users responded to the video, with one saying: “Road is for cars not pedestrians,” with another adding: “Just let him go to work”.
The protest was organised by Cardiff Students for Palestine, who posted about the event on their Instagram as it was taking place.
The post reads: “We are blocking the road on Park Place”, and “We are disrupting the Postgrad Live! event that is happening inside the CSL today”.
Responding to the incident, Cardiff Students for Palestine told The Cardiff Tab: “Whilst we were exercising our right to peacefully protest, a van…drove into a number of protestors, knocking one of them to the floor and causing injuries to their knees and ankles. The individuals in the van also yelled obscenities at those protesting”.
South Wales Police have said that “there were no complaints or reports of any injuries”.
The company advertised on the van has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
