Netflix’s breakout romcom Nobody Wants This has a very special addition to the cast for season two; leading man Adam Brody’s real-life wife.
Leighton Meester will star alongside her husband as his character Noah romances Kristen Bell’s Joanne in the popular show, which is based on a real story.
The rom-com has a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and fans have hailed the series for featuring the ‘best ever’ kiss on screen.
The A-List couple are no strangers to working with each other, having originally met on the set ofThe Oranges in 2011.
Since then, they have starred in two other major projects together — Life Partners and Rivers Wild — and always stated they are happy to share the screen.
This isn’t the only co-star reunion though as both Leighton, 38, and Kristen, 44, worked on Gossip Girl, although Kristen was in a sound booth the whole time.
Once again their characters will be at odds as Variety reports the Good Girls Go Bad hitmaker is set to play ‘Joanne’s middle school nemesis’
Leighton’s character is ‘now an Instagram mommy influencer’ which will surely clash with her former rivals’ less-than-saintly life ethos.
The House actress has been full of praise for Adam and his new show, supporting him at multiple award shows this year.
‘I’m just so so proud of him and think he deserves everything,’ she told E! News of the OC star.
‘I love his work and to be around him—it’s very natural,’ she added. ‘It doesn’t ever feel unnatural to just move our personal life onto set.
‘We’ve done it many times, and I hope we get the opportunity again.’
Adam made a cameo in Leighton’s show Good Cop/Bad Cop but this is the first time since 2019 they will both have a major role in a project.
The couple have not had the easiest start to the year as their home was reportedly caught up in the LA fires, burning to the ground in January.
Also joining the cast is Miles Fowler, playing a basketball friend of Noah’s who gets ‘set up with Morgan’, Joanne’s sister.
Justine Lupe will return as Morgan, along with most of the season one cast including Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitcock, Tovah Feldshuh, and Sherry Cola.
Season two has no official timeline yet but will see a switch-up in showrunners, which has concerned some fans.
Erin Foster, who created the series, will remain as an executive producer while Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan – who both worked on Girls – will be serving as showrunners and executive producers.
