Netflix users don’t have long to watch an iconic rom-com dubbed a ‘masterpiece.’

Starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was released in 2003 telling the story of advice columnist Andie Anderson (Hudson) who pitches a piece to her editor about how to get a man to leave you in 10 days.

Andie goes off to find the perfect man to, unknowingly, be part of her experiment, arranging a date with executive Ben Berry (McConaughey) who is confident that he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days.

When they meet, both of their plans backfire as they slowly start to fall in love.

Directed by Donald Petrie, the film also stars Kathryn Hanh, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, and Michael Michele.

It is currently available to stream on Netflix, but not for long as it is due to leave on February 25.

Despite holding a 42% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days maintains a cult following.

In their retrospective review last year, The Rearview called the film ‘the greatest rom-com of all time.’

IndieWire said it ‘revolutionised rom-coms’ and inspired a whole new wave of female journalists to enter the profession.

Among fans, it holds a far higher 77% on the Popcornmeter, with many fans dubbing it ‘perfect.’

‘This is my favourite rom-com ever made. Every single thing about this movie makes it good,’ an unnamed user wrote.

Linda R said: ‘Anything with Kate Hudson in it is going to be great. You just love her from the beginning of the movie to the end. She is so likeable and so is Matthew McConaughey so this movie is a fun movie to watch and it has a great ending.’

Sunny S said it was ‘rom-com excellence’.

‘A feel-good film and rom-com classic,’ Mia P added. ‘A heartwarming and funny movie with a good storyline.

‘Great chemistry between the leading actors Matthew and Kate. You can tell they both had great fun shooting this movie.’

The film came after Hudson shot to fame in 2000 rom-com Almost Famous, starring Billy Crudup, Patrick Fugit, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, and Zooey Deschanel.

For McConaughey, the role followed his stint in the classic 2001 rom-com The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was a huge box office success, grossing over $177.5 million (£140.3 million) against a budget of $50 million (39.5 million).
