AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- Last fall students from this class did a project, creating a place mat for a local nonprofit called Augusta Locally Grown.
This gave each student the task to learn how to work for a business, work under deadline, and give back to the community.
And while this class happens only in the fall, the assistant professor for the class says both the students and local nonprofits has something to gain.
“There are so many nonprofits that they might not have a marketing department, they might not have the budget to invest in good design or a proper design and marketing materials. And so and on the other hand, we have these students who are graduating, who are soon to be professionals in the field that need that experience. So just working with a local nonprofit, I think it’s a way for designers to give back to the community,” said assistant professor, Clarissa Gainey.
Professor Gainey says she is looking for local nonprofits that are interested in working with her students next fall.
