Manchester United fans have been left slightly miffed at the sight of Mason Mount partying with his former Chelsea teammates.

Mount, 26, left Stamford Bridge to join United in the summer of 2023 having helped the Blues win the Champions League two years earlier.

The England international has endured a disastrous spell in Manchester however with persistent injury problems limiting him to just 13 starting appearances in all competitions since the start of last season.

While Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of the midfielder, Mount has been sidelined since mid-December with no clear timeline for his return.

Members of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning squad from 2021 were recently reunited in a private bash with pictures from the event shared on social media on Monday.

Current Chelsea stars Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah were joined by Ben Chilwell, currently on loan at Crystal Palace and Jorginho, who made the move across London to Arsenal two years ago.

England boss Thomas Tuchel, who guided Chelsea to that European triumph, was also in attendance alongside Mount.

Chelsea fans lapped up the reunion of their last trophy-winning squad with one writing: ‘We need them all back’.

Mount in particular felt the love from his old supporters with one commenting: ‘Oh my God Mason, I miss him most’.

But United supporters, perhaps frustrated with the player’s luck with injuries and their side’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Fulham the previous night, were not so pleased.

‘He’s entitled to a life outside of football, but after not playing consistently for two years at a new club, this isn’t the best look,’ one X user wrote with another furiously adding: ‘Dock his wages.’

‘We’re stuck with paying a useless player £250k weekly for clubbing with ex-players,’ another United fan wailed with another writing: ‘He should be focusing more on getting fit.’

Neither Mount or Luke Shaw, another player who has endured a disastrous time on the injury front, have featured this year.

Following Amorim’s arrival in Manchester in November, the head coach suggested the midfielder would be central to his plans.

‘Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid,’ Amorim said.

‘You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.

‘I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.

‘He played in this system [before], so it’s perfect for him.

‘I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!’
