Awhina and Adrian’s MAFS Australia honeymoon got super tense as they sat down for a very serious chat about her six-year-old son.
During their wedding, it was the bride’s sister who let slip that she has a child, then her dad confirmed it in his speech.
Awhina took her new husband outside and told him she was waiting for the right moment to tell him, and he didn’t have a good reaction, saying it’s “not ideal”.
The topic came up once again on their honeymoon and Adrian dropped a huge bombshell, saying he doesn’t think he could love her child as much as his own.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Awhina has revealed how she really felt about his very cold reaction to her being a mum.

“When he initially said [my situation] wasn’t ideal… my stomach dropped because I came into this experiment and I couldn’t wait for the person at the end of the aisle to meet the greatest part about me, which was my son,” she said.
However, on the wedding day, Adrian “eventually started to come around” to the idea of her having a son.
“I feel like it was a surprise and he needed time to process that information. And by the end of the night, things started to run a little smoother and he opened up a bit more. But, yeah, my initial reaction was a bit of dread,” the bride continued. “He quickly warmed up to me.”
She was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, adding: “When he reacted the way he did to the news about my son, I was thinking, okay, so maybe he’s never dated a single mum before.”
“I wanted him to know that it is a big part of my life. So accepting me obviously comes with the acceptance that I am a mum and I have a son.”
From what she said, it sounds like he’s going to get used to the idea. We’ll have to wait and see.
