AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – A new TV show is being filmed here in the heart of Augusta.
The new show called Asherah: A Love Odyssey is being filmed at the Sacred Heart Cultural Center from now through March 12th.
They are filming the first episode of 6 at the Cultural Center and the church plays a big role in the episode.
The show reinterprets mythological storytelling for today’s audience.
Gary Mazeffa, Director and Screenplay Writer for Asherah: A Love Odyssey, says, “We follow this protagonist and she’s on a mission, she has a hero mission, and he’s running from it a bit because of the enormous task of that mission and that is that she will save humanity at the age of 28.”
Throughout the series you will grow up with Asherah rom age 12 to 28 as she goes through the journey of life and finds out what struggles and successes shape her into the woman she will become.
Angelina Bella plays ‘Asherah’ and is a Producer and says they went to many churches to find the perfect one and they found it right here in Augusta.
“As soon as we walked into this cathedral, we felt a sort of magic here in the air. If you just take a look at it, you just see how incredibly gorgeous it is.” Bella says.
Mazeffa says getting to experience a new city with new found family has been wonderful.
“It’s really been, it’s been beautiful. It’s been a very warm, embracing people, culture, it has enlarged our world as a result because it is a very special place.” Mazeffa says.
Bella and Mazeffa say the members of the production crew that are from Augusta have given them a warm welcome.
Most of the crew is from Augusta showcasing the wonderful local talent we have right here in the CSRA.
