
In a shocking incident Mogami Ai, a well known voice actor and live content streamer was stabbed to death by an alleged anti-fan. Tragically the incident was streamed live and watched by 6000 viewers since the victim was streaming on Whowatch in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Media House Yomiuri news stated that a call was made at 9.50 AM to report that a woman was stabbed by a person in a street of Takadanobaba. Police responded to the call and discovered a woman who was stabbed on her head, neck and chest. She was immediately taken to a hospital but the hospital declared her dead after an hour.
The report further stated that the Police have arrested a suspect from the scene. The woman later identified as Mogami by local media was stabbed in the middle of the live stream. A clip surfaced on social media which showed the aftermath of the stabbing and Police sirens could be heard in the background.
Yomiuri quoted a Metropolitan Police Department official who stated that the suspect had admitted to stabbing the woman but stated that he did not mean to kill her. The suspect has not been identified and there reports that he was in trouble with the woman. The police have also recovered the blood stained murder weapon used in the stabbing. The incident happened only 350 meters from JR Takadanobaba Station.
Yomiuri quoted an onlooker who said that he heard a woman scream and she was asking for help. When he looked out from the second floor of his workplace he saw a woman senseless on the ground and the Police holding a suspect on the ground.
In the video the suspect who can be seen covered in blood was asking into the camera to the victim if she was dead. The onlookers’ account suggested that the assailant knew the victim. There are also unconfirmed reports that the suspect was overheard talking about a “personal dispute” with Mogami Ai. The Police are investigating the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
The distressing video of the aftermath of the stabbing quickly became viral on social media platforms shocking the users. Many viewers thought it was a staged scene but to their horror they soon realized it was real. Many took to social media to express their horror and also demanded that online content creators be given better security.
