Harry Potter fever has the UK in a chokehold again, and if you rewatched the films recently now they’re all on Netflix for your viewing convenience you might have been reminded of the fact that a pretty significant petty villain was absent in the final films. Without explanation, without context – just gone. It was all to do with some big legal trouble and controversy, and it made the films seriously deviate from the source material and had young fans a bit perplexed at the time. Whilst the Harry Potter films are back in the collective consciousness, here’s what you need to know about the Harry Potter star who got banned from the films after his legal controversy – and everything he’s up to today.
Vincent Crabbe never returned, played by Jamie Waylett

Vincent Crabbe was one of the most recognisable petty villains in the earlier Harry Potter films, who attempted to bully the Hogwarts students with his mate Gregory Goyle as Draco Malfoy’s less fearsome Slytherin minions. Crabbe is pictured above second from the right, between Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson.
But despite the fact he had a significant showdown with Harry, Ron and Hermione in the books in the Room of Requirement during the Deathly Hallows – he was cut and replaced with Blaise Zabini.
What happened?
Jamie Waylett was pulled over and arrested by police who then found a cannabis farm in his room with a value of £2000. This was mid shooting for Deathly Hallows part one. Tom Felton, who plays Malfoy, instantly distanced himself from his co-star and was reported saying during the Half Blood Prince promo tour “Jamie was never one to appreciate where he was or what he was doing. It’s massively disappointing. I don’t have too much to say other than the fact he’s let himself down hugely.
“It’s a massive disappointment for himself and the franchise.”
Well, it got worse. The Harry Potter star then found more controversy after getting banned from the films when he was jailed for taking parts in the London riots in 2011.
What’s he doing these days?
Since getting out of prison, Jamie Waylett has released rap music under the name Bully. He also charged for Cameos for a bit, which would set you back £154. He’s taken a bit of a step back from the front facing public life.
On his Cameo however he does refer to himself as “Slytherin for life.”
