Former Chippa United midfielder Siphelele Luthuli has reportedly stopped training with Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.
The 30-year-old, who is a free agent, is searching for a new club having parted ways with the Chilli Boys. According to iDiski Times, the experienced former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder was spotted at Pirates in December and continued to train with the Buccaneers until March
This week, the publication said that the veteran midfielder left Orlando Pirates without being offered a deal after featuring in first-team training and several friendlies for over a month.
The Buccaneers have failed to rotate their squad this season. In January, Jose Riveiro opted not to go into the transfer market to bring in new players. South African Football consultant Peter Du Toit said the lack of rotation may cost the Sea Robbers the league.
“If Pirates are not careful, they won’t go further in CAF and will struggle in the Nedbank Cup and that’s got to be avoided. My views, this game against Stellenbosch epitomized the problem. It can’t be more clear, you’re playing against 10 men, forget the nonsense they say sometimes it’s harder to play against 10 men, it’s not, it’s 11 against 10, you’ve got an extra man and you’re a quality team.

“If this game didn’t show the red light to Riveiro, then there’s a big problem. The biggest problem is the lack of rotation and there’s a second problem which we will dive into. Pirates have a big squad, what’s wrong with them, why is it not rotated,” he said on SoccerBeat.
Did Pirates make a mistake by not signing in January?
