Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for a busy offseason window as they continue their pursuit of greatness. AmaKhosi have tasted success on many occasions, but fans, players and management have forgotten what that tastes like.
In preparation for the upcoming winter window, Nasreddine Nabi has shifted his focus to overseas talent, believing the domestic market to be too tricky to crack.
“The coach has apparently noticed that signing players from rival teams locally is very difficult and that’s why they want to see if they can get players from outside South Africa,” SoccerLaduma reported.
Fresh targets
With little success, Kaizer Chiefs have been linked to a plethora of South African talent since Nabi’s arrival in July of last year. Oswin Appollis and Asanele Velebayi were top targets, but both fizzled out of reach during extensive negotiations.
AmaKhosi is keen on targetting the Tanzanian Premier League, eyeing star midfielder Feisal Salum, striker Prince Dube, and goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
Another player on their radar is Portuguese-based defender Yaya Sithole:
“Of course, the club is still to get the players they need locally but if they can’t then they will go outside the country and that’s why they have reignited their interest in Yaya [Sithole]. He is actually back on their radar,” a source revealed.
“They believe he can complement the team very well with the current midfielders of [Gaston] Sirino, [Mdu] Shabalala, [Ox] Mthethwa, [Thabo] Cele, [Yusuf] Maart and even [Edson] Castillo. So, they will be looking at how they can bring him in now.”
Is this smart from Kaizer Chiefs?
