Orlando Pirates must quickly find replacement options for Monnapule Saleng. Meanwhile, there’s a new kid on the block.
Pirates superstar wants out
A source has revealed that Monnapule Saleng is determined to leave the club if his situation doesn’t improve.
“He’s not happy with how he has been treated by Pirates. He feels he deserves better, especially considering what he has done for the club. Even this season, he was performing well before everything changed. He just wants a fair deal from Pirates, that’s all,” said the source.

Potential replacements for the wantaway Monnapule Saleng
Devin Titus
Stellenbosch’s 24-year-old winger could potentially be a like-for-like replacement for Saleng as he enjoys hugging the right touchline. He’s not an inverted winger like Saleng, but since right-footer Relebohile Mofokeng already dazzles down the left, this isn’t much of an issue. Titus has impressed this campaign for Stellies, bagging six goals and three assists in 20 league appearances.

Elias Mokwana
Although the former Sekhukhune man has only recently moved to Tunisia with Esperance, there have been complications over payments. Mokwana could be lured back to South Africa by a good offer, and Pirates are among the most attractive propositions.
Oswin Appollis
Polokwane City will be expecting offers for their star Bafana winger in the close season. Now 23, Appollis is a quality operator with great balance who can cause damage off either flank. If Pirates get good money for Saleng, Appollis’ big transfer fee shouldn’t be a problem.
21-year-old Mokoena is ready for the big time
According to SoccerLaduma, Neo Mokoena might be in line for a taste of the Orlando Pirates first-team ahead of schedule. Pirates have dealt with a congested fixture list, compounded by a string of long-term injuries. 21-year-old winger Mokoena has been training with the senior side with Mbekezeli Mbokazi. Teenager Mbokazi has been a massive hit, recently becoming a regular in the heart of defence for Jose Riveiro’s men. Could Mokoena follow suit?
When is Pirates vs Sundowns?
Key trio Thalente Mbatha, Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng are all one booking away from an automatic local suspension. Fortunately for Pirates boss Jose Riveiro, all three kept their names out of the referee’s notebook on Tuesday in the Sea Robbers’ 0-0 stalemate at Stellenbosch. Mofokeng started, Maswanganyi was a substitute and Mbatha wasn’t named in the matchday party. Pirates face Sundowns on Sunday, 16 March at 15:30.
