Kaizer Chiefs on pole to sign European-based midfielder

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly pushing to sign Sweden-based South African midfielder Luke le Roux.

The 25-year-old is currently in the books of IFK Varnamo, having left the Premier Soccer League about five years ago. Le Roux also has five caps for Bafana Bafana.

According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi are eyeing the former SuperSport United midfielder. A source told the publication that Kaizer Chiefs were looking to bring in players who were not in demand from their local rivals.

“What the club (Chiefs) has decided on their recruitment policy is to try and sign as much players as possible who are not in demand from their local rivals. On many occasions, when they are competing with other local teams they end up not signing those players. Now that’s why they have reignited the pursuit of Luke Le Roux. He is a South African but currently playing in Europe and they believe they stand a better chance of signing him,” said the source.

Kaizer Chiefs to release more players end of season

Soccer Laduma also reported that another overhaul was looming at Kaizer Chiefs come end of the season.

“For them to bring in most of the players they are looking at and targeting, they need some players if not most players to leave,” a source told the outlet. “Something like an overhaul. This could be mainly in the attacking areas though the goalkeepin‹ and defence could also be affected (to a certain extent). That’s what they are working on now to balance the club in terms of playing personal but also the wage balance as well,” a source told the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently eighth in the Betway Premiership after 21 matches.
