Omg! Adolescence’s Owen Cooper’s second ever role is going to be in a major Hollywood film!

Adolescence is truly as good as everyone is saying it is. Four episodes long – a true powerhouse of British television. I mean, with that lineup of those involved how could it fail? Fresh off the success of Boiling Point, director Philip Barantini and writer, producer AND star Stephen Graham linked up again to create four episodes of one continuous shot as a family deal with their 13-year-old son getting arrested for the murder of his female schoolmate. And it’s that 13-year-old son who has garnered worldwide acclaim – Owen Cooper had never acted in a professional capacity before. With such an incredible performance, everyone has been wanting to know where Owen Cooper is gonna go next and what kind of role he’s got lined up after Adolescence.

Well, in a shock to absolutely no one, it’s a huge one. It’s a major Hollywood movie, it’s being done by a hugely successful Oscar winning writer and director and he’s going to be playing the young version of one of the most popular men in the biz right now. Here’s what you need to know.

He’s made it big time

If you don’t know the story of how Owen Cooper got cast in Adolescence, it’s about to be stuff of legend. The young Warrington actor sent a self tape in to the show when they did a callout.

“I only really wanted to start acting a couple of years ago,” he told Variety. “It’s not been long. I grew up wanting to be a footballer. I don’t know what it was that made me want to do it, but I just wanted to do it.

“And then I went to lessons and enjoyed it. And then I got into a little agency thing, and then I got a self-tape request for Adolescence. And everything came from that, really.”

After having such a good experience with Stephen Graham on set, Graham hooked Owen up with his own agent and from there came his next role. After Adolescence, Owen Cooper is for his next role going to be playing young Heathcliff in the Wuthering Heights remake – directed by Emerald Fennell! Fresh off Saltburn success, he’s playing the younger version of Jacob Elordi who will be starring as Heathcliff. Margot Robbie also stars – it’s going to be massive.

“Jacob’s lovely. He’s always chatting to everyone. And same as Margot. Margot is lovely as well,” he added.
