Jenna Ortega, the star and executive producer of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday,” has provided updates on both the upcoming second season and potential third season of the show.
Season 2 is currently in post-production, with Ortega recently completing Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR) work.
Although Netflix has not announced a specific premiere date, Ortega hinted that the series might return later in 2025, possibly around the same time as Season 1.
In an interview with Collider, Ortega revealed that while there hasn’t been an official confirmation for Season 3, the writers are already brainstorming ideas.
“We haven’t gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that, but I know the writers are… with a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game,” she shared.
“We’re still in the edit. I was doing ADR for it two weeks ago,” she explained. “That’s the funny thing about these jobs: you’re done, you wrap, but you’re not really done. So, I’ll probably be working on it until the end.”
Ortega hinted at some visually striking moments, mentioning a particular frame where Pugsley rolls his eyes back while wearing a head contraption, reminiscent of Full Metal Jacket.
She also revealed that an entire episode would pay homage to slasher films, maintaining the show’s tradition of horror references. “We had a bit more trust this time, which allowed us to create bigger, more elaborate sequences,” she noted.
She further explained that, much like the first season— which took inspiration from classics such as Beetlejuice, Carrie, and Prom Night— Season 2 will continue embracing gothic and horror elements, enabling the team to take greater creative risks.
