NAMED | The French side interested in Mamelodi Sundowns star!

Mamelodi Sundowns could be set to already lose one of their promising young players in the near future.

Sundowns has seen a plethora of their players linked with moves abroad, with a new name entering the list.

Sundowns contingent attracting overseas interest

In the last 18 months the likes Teboho Mokoena, Khuliso Mudau, Bathusi Aubaas, Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners. Those being players who are part of a Bafana Bafana side that is in resurgence, bar Ribeiro. With the national team’s success and the growth of Sundowns both locally and on the continent, European interest was inevitable. But now according to the latest, even one of their upcoming talents has emerged as a target abroad.

This publication reported yet again last week that, young centre-back Malibongwe Khoza was the latest. It is revealed that a French side was interested in the lanky star. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, it is Ligue 1 side Rennes FC who want him from Sundowns.

Khoza wanted by Rennes

“Rennes FC representatives and scouts have been monitoring Mali’s (Khoza’s) progress as they have watched most of his games and they are happy with him. It’s believed that they want to assess him in their own environment and see what he can do. Though they are happy with the potential they have seen in him,” said the source to the same publication.

A second source reiterated that Sundowns wouldn’t stand in Khoza’s way. They claim they will allow him to fly out to Rennes only after the Club World Cup, however.

Set to travel to Ligue 1 side in July

“The club (Sundowns) won’t stand in the way of the player (Khoza) if that chance comes but the only thing is that they would request that he can go for an assessment in July after the FIFA Club World Cup. But yes, the interest is there and it’s promising as long as he can go there and prove that he can do it,” said the second source.

Should he stay or go?
