Last month, legendary rock band Flogging Molly were forced to cancel their entire 2025 tour after revealing frontman Dave King was seriously unwell.
The If I Ever Leave This World Alive hitmakers did not initially share the details of this illness but said he was ‘battling a very serious condition’.
They have now confirmed Dave, 63, suffered a brain haemorrhage and spent two weeks in a coma.
‘Hi everyone, I’ve wanted to reach out for some time, but it was necessary to wait until we were safely out of the woods first,’ a statement read on the band’s Instagram.
Shared by wife and bandmate Bridget Regan, the message continued: ‘On January 24th, Dave suffered a brain haemorrhage and underwent two subsequent surgeries to save his life.
‘He then spent two weeks in a coma, followed by varying stages of treatment and recovery.’

The seven-member band first formed in LA in 1994. Dave was the founding member of the band and brought the other six members together – including his wife.
Bridget added on February 28, Dave underwent another surgery and she is ‘now feeling confident’ that the family are ‘on the other side of this’.
‘The road ahead is uncertain but we, as ever, will roll with the punches and hope to see you all in the near future,’ Bridget continued.
The musical couple met in 1993 and were some of the original members of the American rock band with a Celtic influence.
The Devil’s Dance Floor singer is now reportedly entering the next recovery stage and is eager to get back to playing music.
She thanked her partner’s neurosurgeon and ‘his amazing team’ at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital for ‘saving [his] life’, along with the nurses and staff at St Brigid’s and Richmond Wards.
‘To friends and family whose support was unwavering through this ordeal, a heartfelt thank you,’ the violinist added.
‘And a special thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and messages of support.
‘Please look after each other and tell your people you love them. Life can change in an instant.’

It’s unclear what the future holds for Flogging Molly, having been due to start a US tour two weeks after Dave’s health crisis.
The band’s annual Salty Dog Cruise went ahead on February 17, sailing from Miami without Dave onboard as captain.
Other Flogging Molly members were on the ship to celebrate and meet fnas, along with other artists who were set to perform across the weekend.
They have also had to cancel their three-day Shamrock Rebellion — a St. Patrick’s Day weekender in Las Vegas, Tempe and Los Angeles.
Flogging Molly was also set to tour in Europe later this year, with the entire tour now set to be rescheduled.
