Everyone is still talking about Jeniffer Castro, the Brazilian woman who went viral after refusing to give her plane seat to a crying child, and what she’s doing now is even crazier than the controversy.
She was on a short domestic flight in December 2024 when another passenger started filming her as she wouldn’t give her pre-booked window seat to a screaming toddler who wanted to look out the window.
The video went super viral at the time and caused a massive debate as some people gave her huge backlash and others defended her decision not to swap seats. Then, something pretty wild happened.
After losing her entire banking career due to the negative comments, the 29-year-old started a brand new life as a social media influencer after gaining a staggering TWO MILLION followers on Instagram.
As her story went more and more viral, the followers just kept growing as people rushed to defend her online. Now, it’s been three months and her entire world has changed as she takes on a new path.
A glance at her Instagram profile reveals she’s now travelling the world doing brand deals and probably earning huge amounts of money for it, so it’s actually worked out alright for her in the end.
Her bio says “fashion, lifestyle & travel” and she’s always sharing pictures of her outfits and makeup in amazing destinations. She’s currently in Barcelona, and she even got to fly in a private jet as part of a brand deal.
“Since that incident, my life has taken a turn I could never have imagined,” Jeniffer told the Daily Mail.
“What should have been just an ordinary flight turned into an extremely embarrassing situation, exposing me unfairly and causing consequences that affected both my personal and professional life.”
“I was the target of judgments, attacks and speculation from people who don’t even know the full story.”
However, some might say the whole plane controversy was actually a blessing in disguise as the 29-year-old has now got new income streams even higher than what she was earning before.
On top of influencing, Jeniffer also claims she is in the process of suing GOL Airlines as the whole situation was so “embarrassing” for her. The Tab reached out to the airline and they declined to comment.
