Video of assault at McDonald’s goes viral, sparks social media fury – WATCH

A video of a male customer assaulting a female worker at McDonald’s in Kenilworth in Cape Town has gone viral.

At the time of publishing, the clip had amassed over one million views and with 3 800 comments posted as viewers expressing shock, frustration and anger.

In the footage posted by Facebook user Rybrox, a white male customer is seen behind the counter – an area reserved for employees – where he confronts the black female worker.

Responds aggressively

She instructs him to wait for his food, but he responds by aggressively pushing her, suggesting he’d ‘waited two hours for his food’.

The worker, holding a chip fryer, defends herself, shouting at the man to stop.

‘Don’t dare push me,’ she demands, while also questioning, ‘Who do you think you are, to hit a woman?’

As the male continues his assault, the worker pushes him away, but he eventually disappears from view.

He can still be heard calling her a ‘piece of s***.’

Moments later, a group of men move in to attempt to defuse the situation, prompting the footage to end.

Social media responses were predictably mixed, with some suggesting the McDonald’s worker should have used the hot oil to defend herself, while others warned of potential legal repercussions.
