‘They’re lying’: ‘Joslin’ speaks out on court claims, says psychic

Paranormal justice medium Kandis Starr believes that “Joslin Smith” has refuted claims “from the grave” that she was sold to a sangoma or trafficked into another country.

The allegations were made in court over the past fortnight during the trial for the missing Saldanha Bay girl.

Kandis – who has followed the case since little Joslin went missing in February 2024 – has often spoken about her beliefs that the little girl was killed by someone she knew.

Joslin’s mother, Kelly Smith, her boyfriend, Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis, and pal Steveno van Rhyn are all on trial over charges of child trafficking.

The trial is taking place under the High Court, sitting at the Saldanha Bay Centre.

‘JOSLIN SMITH’ SPEAKS FROM THE GRAVE?

Over the past year, Kandis Starr has posted her many encounters with what she believes is her communication with “Joslin Smith” on her YouTube channel. This has been done with a “spirit box,” a paranormal justice tool used to spirits via electronic voice phenomena (EVP).

The US psychic previously told The South African that she believes that the little girl has since passed.

Last week,  Kandis shared another session with whom she believes is the missing girl. In the YouTube video, the medium connects to her “spirit guides,” who in turn connect her to “Joslin Smith.”

“I am here”, said what sounded like a voice of a little girl. It added: “I suffered”

When asked if the little girl was still alive, the voice said: “deceased”, “killed” and “they dumped me”. The voice went on to mention the names of the accused, claiming that they “beat” and “hurt” her. The voice also dismissed claims that Joslin was kidnapped or sold as “they’re lying”.

WHAT HAS COURT HEARD?

Thus far, close to 20 witnesses have testified on behalf of the state against the three accused.

The High Court has heard several bombshell allegations about missing Joslin Smith. This includes:

  • Joslin was allegedly taken by a Nigerian man and allegedly trafficked to West Africa.
  • Joslin was allegedly sold to a sangoma for R20 000.
  • Kelly’s claims to her sister that Joslin was in the “squatter camp” and that “someone wanted to.”uy her”.
  • Kelly’s reported plans to split the money between her co-accused.
  • Comments from Kelly that Joslin had “made her famous” and calls to search parties to “stop looking” for her missing child.
