Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Daniel Matsau feels Amakhosi striker Ranga Chivaviro should move on.
The 32-year-old has only scored four times in 21 appearances this season and could be out of the club by the end of the season. He only has three months remaining in his contract and with the club having bought Tashreeq Morris, it looks less likely that the ex-Marumo Gallants star would stay with Kaizer Chiefs.
“Though he is a good striker, I’m concerned about his movements. He doesn’t create enough space for his teammates to find him,” Matsau told ld SNL24.
Kaizer Chiefs to offload Ranga?
“That’s why they struggle to find him, which affects his ability to score goals. His movements around the box are not good.
“He often hides from the ball, and most of the time, he positions himself at the far post or stands at the penalty spot. Those positions are for overlapping teammates and oncoming attacking midfielders.
“As a result, he is going to struggle to score goals. A striker should always be the first one to react to second balls,” said the ex-Kaizer Chiefs star.
Matsau feels Chivaviro won’t find game time this season with the likes of Ashley Du Preez and Morris preferred ahead of him.
“For me, I think they should let Ranga go because if Kaizer Chiefs manage to find a new striker, especially now with Tashreeq Morris in the mix, I don’t think Ranga will play again.
“Every time Morris plays, there is a lot of movement up front, and there’s no way they will play Ranga while keeping a fit Morris on the bench. Morris does things that Chivaviro can’t,” Matsau concluded.
