There is more scheduling chaos ahead this evening as both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are pulled from ITV.
In their usual slots, the World Cup qualifier football match between England and Latvia is set to air instead, with coverage starting at 7pm ahead of the 7.45pm kick off.
To make up for the missing episodes, ITV will air an extended episode of Emmerdale at 7pm tomorrow, followed by an hour of Corrie at 8pm, with both episodes available to watch on ITVX from 7am.
It is set to be a dramatic week on both soaps that viewers will not want to miss.
On the cobbles of Coronation Street, chaos ensues as Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) takes sister Carla Connor (Alison King) and her girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) hostage, with one major character set to be on the receiving end of a bullet as the situation escalates.
Elsewhere, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has his sights set on the local scaffolder, with a rollercoaster of emotions set to unfold over the week, and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) gets an unexpected windfall.
Over in the Dales, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) is keen to dig for dirt on Anthony Fox’s whereabouts, much to the horror of some of the locals.
Meanwhile, romance may be in the air for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and newcomer Kammy (Shebz Miah), while Ella Forster (Paula Lane) remains hellbent on proving her innocence.
Next year, both soaps are set to face permanent schedule changes as ITV cut back on episodes.
Both soaps will air half an hour episodes every weeknight, with Emmerdale hitting screens at 8pm, followed by Corrie at 8.30pm, creating what bosses are calling a ‘soap power hour’.
The changes are said to reflect research into audience viewing habits, and will be marked by a huge stunt at the beginning of 2026.
