Live: Watch the video as Katy Perry goes into space with Blue Origin

Today is the day where Katy Perry gets launched into space, and you can watch it LIVE. Yes, there is a stream to show our iconic pop princess being launched into the skies. This is real life, btw.

Today (April 14th) Katy Perry will be onboard the New Shepard rocket as part of an all-female crew, heading out to space. She’s had astronaut training, and is now ready to go.

The rocket is a Blue Origin rocket. To date, the ship has successfully taken 48 people to space. This has been since Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos sold the first tickets for a cool $28million.

Katy will be joined by journalist Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn and journalist and helicopter pilot Lauren Sánchez – who is engaged to Blue Origin owner, Jeff Bezos. They are reportedly the first all-female crew since 1963.

The flight is set to take off at 8.30am local time, or 2.30pm BST. The flight itself will last only around 11 minutes, and reach a height of about 65 miles above Earth. The Blue Origin launch will be from Launch Site One, located in West Texas.

Despite the women only being in space for 11 minutes, they still have a small allowance three pound weight limit. Katy said she wants to pack something sentimental, “to remind us how precious the Earth is.”

Ahead of her voyage she told the Associated Press she has “always been interested in astrophysics and interested in astronomy and astrology and the stars. We are all made of stardust and we all come from the stars.”

Here’s the live video stream of Katy Perry going into space with Blue Origin:

The synopsis for the live stream says: “A group of six women that includes CBS host Gayle King and pop star Katy Perry are preparing to blast off on a historic all-female commercial spaceflight in one week.

“When a Blue Origin spacecraft gets off the ground, the crew of women will become the latest humans to be treated to a brief trip to the edge of space courtesy of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space technology company. Blue Origin, which Bezos started in 2000, has been offering the cosmic joyrides to celebrities and other paying customers since its New Shepard spacecraft began crewed launches in 2021. The launch, scheduled for Monday in West Texas, will be the company’s 11th human flight and 31st flight overall.”
