A rundown of JoJo Siwa’s funniest moments, before she gives us loads more on Big Brother

Nobody has quite dominated the internet over the last year and a half like JoJo Siwa, who thanks to an outrageous rebrand has barely stopped being a source of headlines and funny quotes. Imagine the world’s delight then when it was pretty much confirmed that on Monday she will be going in to the UK Celebrity Big Brother house – and the fact she’s going to be sharing a living space with David Platt from Corrie is confirmation enough that we’re going to be in for a ridiculous time. Since JoJo Siwa is about to cause certainly another batch of viral moments, here’s a rundown of all her wildest over the past year for all the times she’s been the funniest – albeit, cringiest – person on the internet.

The entire rebrand

The funniest thing of this last year for our JoJo is how she rebranded to her more mature image. She was going for Miley Cyrus levels of child star to very serious pop queen – but it didn’t quite land. It was sort of ironically magic, however – and she was spoke about constantly this time last year.

When JoJo dropped Karma there was loads of drama because the song was originally released by Brit Smith – who came out of the woodwork and then released her original version. JoJo then said she had “no idea” who Brit Smith even was.

‘Dream guest on my podcast?’

In a now infamous quote, JoJo Siwa went viral after saying “Dream guest on my podcast? I mean honestly, let’s spice things up: One of my exes!”

This diva.

The dance from Karma, which she’s still doing now

People tried to clown her for it, but she’s had the last laugh. This choreography where she vibrates herself up and down is so embedded into pop culture I can’t imagine life without it.

She said she ‘invented’ gay pop

Speaking to Billboard, JoJo said“I said it back in the day, when I first signed with Columbia. I said, ‘I wanna start a new genre of music.’ And they said, ‘What do you mean?’ And I said, ‘Well, it’s called gay pop.’ And they were like, ‘What’s that?’ And I was like, ‘It’s like K-pop, right? But it’s gay pop.’”

This of course got dragged, but wow what a line.

When she addressed the conspiracy theory that her tampon fell out in a music video

A truly ridiculous viral rumour went round that a thing that fell off JoJo’s costume in the Guilty Pleasure video. People thought it was a tampon. The Siwa then addressed it directly.

Speaking on a podcast, JoJo Siwa explained what actually happened with the stupid tampon saga. “According to the internet, my tampon falls out… people really believe that my tampon fell out,” she said. “What really happened is my costume was super, super, super fragile.”

JoJo then explained that despite the fact her team used a strong adhesive to try and glue all the stuff onto her outfit, it wasn’t enough and the ‘tampon’ that fell out was actually a feather that came loose when she was dancing and dropped below her. She did say also that she thought the whole saga was hysterical and did admit it looked like a tampon.

When she made up that she was representing Poland at Eurovision

Surely one of the funniest of all JoJo Siwa moments was the saga where she claimed to be representing Poland in this year’s Eurovision. And then the Polish Eurovision board announced they hadn’t had a single conversation with her.

People now have to pay 900 quid to help her set up the tour

Billed as the priciest option for her tour, fans of JoJo Siwa can pay for the “dream guest” experience – and she’s absolutely buzzing to tell you what this entails. Speaking to Access Hollywood, JoJo said “You are actually going to get to come during while we’re loading in the show, and you’re gonna get to kind of help us set it up and make sure things are right and test out the drum with me or the DJ booth with me.”

Fair play to JoJo Siwa, though – as times get harder for queer people across the world, it’s amazing to see someone be so outspoken and stand by what’s right. She may be many things, but her heart is clearly in the right place. A bit of an icon.
