Alan Titchmarsh drops hint on Charlie Dimmock reunion and confirms fate of rumoured Ground Force reboot

ALAN Titchmarsh has spoken out on a potential Ground Force reunion – and teased the potential of a fresh collaboration with Charlie Dimmock.

The ITV presenter – who recently fended off a fan backlash for not presenting his Love Your Garden show from his own home – spoke candidly about the potential for a second stint of the garden makeover series.

Last year, green-fingered Alan, 75, and former Ground Force co-star Tommy Walsh, 68, set the rumour mill whirring after they enjoyed a reunion.

On Ground Force, a series that ran from from 1997 to 2002, they were joined by fellow gardener Charlie, 58.

The flame-haired star hinted at a show comeback back in 2017 yet Alan has now set the record straight.

He said: “All three of us enjoyed doing it but it’s been 23 years since we did that.”

He added to Hello! Magazine: “It was of its time, and I followed it up with Love Your Garden, which is making gardens for people whose lives were going to be turned around by it.

“So I’ve done that now I’m getting on.

“I’m still very fit and very spry but the prospect of lugging paving slabs around 75 is probably not a good idea.”

Yet Alan, who has launched his new YouTube Channel, has teased their could be a trip down memory lane for Ground Force fans.

When asked about potential guests on his channel he said he was “very fond” of Charlie and said: “It will start off with just me, and then we’ll see what happens.

“Maybe I’ll get bored of my own company but the plan at the moment is for it just to be me.”

Back in 2017, Alan stayed true to his opinion and again denied rumours of a Ground Force reunion.

During an appearance on the Lorraine show that year, Alan nipped the speculation in the bud.

When asked by host Lorraine Kelly, 65, if it would ever come back, he said: “I don’t think so. I don’t think the other side [the BBC] want to do it.

“Charlie, Tommy and I have always said ‘yes’ but it’s 20 years since we stopped.”

EMOTIONAL MOMENT

Alan was recently left in tears after a major career milestone.

This year, he was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honours.

He told PA News agency he had a “teary moment” with his wife Alison and two daughters as he shared the news.

He said: “I’ve been an MBE for 25 years, so I kind of thought that was… I’ve been very happy with that.

“[I’m] thrilled to bits, surprised, but honoured that I should be thought worth a CBE, flattered beyond belief.”

The former Gardeners’ World presenter has gone on to present a host of shows about green-fingered activities.

The Love Your Garden, Love Your Friday and Love Your Weekend presenter is a national treasure.

He has presented Britain’s Best Gardens, Alan Titchmarsh’s Garden Secrets and Countryfile to name but a few.

He has earned recognition for his work services to horticulture and to charity.

He is also the president of Perennial, formerly the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society and Plant Heritage, previously the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens (NCCPG).
