Amazon Prime Video is about to add what could become one of its most-watched shows of all time.

House of David follows the titular David, a king of ancient Israel and Judah and the second of the United Monarchy, perhaps best known as the warrior who defied all odds and defeated Goliath in the Old Testament.

A trailer released earlier this month teased the battle between David and Goliath, showing the hero about to enter battle with the giant.

The trailer comes with a warning: ‘You know the legend. Now experience the journey.’

Excited fans have flooded the YouTube comments with ecstatic comments.

@BenimoTrailers wrote: ‘This is looking more and more amazing! Thursday can’t come soon enough! Anyone else counting down the days?’

@Battiekoda admitted they’re ‘not even religious’ but ‘I enjoy Biblical stories and respect them from a ‘historian’, point of view. I love to delve into these ancient stories and to see them brought to life……… EPIC!!!!’

Others enthused that they ‘can’t wait’ and gasped that they were ‘super excited’ for the ‘epic saga’.

The trailer alone shows the ambitious scale Amazon Prime has invested in the eight-part series with enormous battle sequences and spectacular landscapes which we imagine would have cost a fortune.

Michael Iskander stars as David, after a four-month search to find the perfect fit for the biblical hero.

Ali Suliman also stars as King Saul, Avatar actor Stephen Leng will play Samuel, and Martyn Ford looks absolutely terrifying as the merciless Goliath.

House of David is the first blockbuster series released as part of Amazon Prime’s deal with The Wonder Project, a faith-based production company that ‘develops series and films rooted in spirituality’.

The action-packed epic will be hoping to replicate the success of The Chosen, which is hailed as ‘the most amazing show ever’ by its loyal fanbase and watched by over 200 million people worldwide.

The Chosen is created, directed, and written by Dallas Jenkins, exploring the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

It went on to become the most successful crowdfunded series in television history.

House of David is available to stream on Amazon Prime from February 27.
