‘Faslon Ko Takalluf’ is an iconic Urdu Naat that has become deeply ingrained in Pakistani cultural heritage. However, its popularity is intertwined with a fascinating story of an error that altered its meaning forever.
The Naat was originally written by Professor Iqbal Azeem, with the first verse intended to be “Qaaflon Ko Takalluf hay hum se agar,” which translates to “if caravans are reluctant to carry us with them.” This verse was meant to evoke the idea of caravans traveling to holy sites, reflecting a sense of longing and devotion.
However, during its recitation by Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi, the word “Qaaflon” was mistakenly replaced with “Faaslon,” which does not convey a meaningful interpretation in this context.
Despite the error, “Faslon Ko Takalluf” has become a timeless classic, cherished for its emotional resonance and Qasmi’s powerful rendition. It is often remembered fondly as part of childhood experiences in Pakistan, especially during Ramadan and other religious celebrations.
The Naat has been covered by numerous artists, including Ayisha Abdul Basith and Ali Zafar, further cementing its place in contemporary Islamic music
