Home Bargains has brought back viral garden buy for just £3.99 and it’s the cheapest on the market

HOME Bargains delighted shoppers after bringing back a popular solar light.

The jazzy garden accessory with a flickering flame effect is on sale for just £3.99.

The colourful light is the perfect garden addition[/caption]

Made by Firefly Solar Light Co, the ornament is shaped like a hot air balloon.

The bargain buy automatically turns on after sundown and comes with a rechargeable battery.

Dangling from the delicate glass ‘balloon’ is a tiny gold basket.

A photo of the £3.99 lights was shared on Bargain Lovers Facebook page with the caption: “Look what’s coming back at Home Bargains!!”

The post quickly gathered plenty of likes, with one person writing: “Love these got one last year look so cute when there light up xx”

A second added: “I want a couple of these, we’ll have to do a trip,” one wrote, tagging a friend.

“Oh my word these are £20 in garden centres!” echoed another.

Every time Home Bargains brings them back on sale they run out fast, with them currently out of stock online.

Despite soaring costs of living, the light is one pound cheaper than when it first took shoppers by storm last year.

It’s worth checking with your local branch to see if it has the balloons in stock.

You can find your nearest Home Bargains branch by using the retailer’s store locator on its website.

Of course, always to remember to shop around before buying anything like this as you might find the item cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Price Spy let you compare prices on thousands of products to find out where it will cost you the least.

You can also have a quick scan on the Google Shopping/Product tab to see how much retailers are selling a particular item for.

We had a quick look online to see if other chains are selling a similar-style hot air balloon solar light, and couldn’t find any.

Homebase has one in stock for £10.50 while Amazon has one in stock for £9.49.

This comes as shoppers go mad for a 99p cure for winter sniffles – and even celebrities can’t get enough.

TOWIE star Bobby Norris is the latest famous face to rave about the 99p product – Nuage’s vapour bath salts.

“Now when I tell you these sell out quick, this is what we’re at,” he said in a video on his TikTok page, turning the camera to show that there were only a few left on the shelf.

“It’s like the locusts have been!”

He urged people to “run like a thief in the night” to their local Home Bargains, calling the product a “game changer”.

“We’ve all got stinking colds,” he sighed.

“We’re having a terrible time I think. So I would suggest, if you like a bath salt or a shower tablet, get involved.

“Vapour is the way.

“And with everything going round at the minute… you need it in your life.

“I grabbed a couple because as I say, they sell out so so quick.”

If you aren’t a bath person, it also comes in tablet form for the shower.

And other Home Bargains shoppers were quick to agree with Bobby in the comments section, with one writing: “When you know you know!”

“Ooh I’ll grab some!” another added.

“I’m going to get some of them,” a third said.

“Home Bargs is the best place!” someone else gushed.

SunSport understands former Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham midfielder Boa Morte, 47, is set to hold talks with Ewood Park chiefs  in the coming days.

Boa Morte has been in charge of the Guinea-Bissau national team since March, following a three-year stint as Marco Silva’s No 2 at Fulham.

But the ex-Portugal international would be swayed by the Rovers gig.

Former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng, 49, is also in the running.

He has only one other managerial job – Kelantan in Malaysia – but has held various coaching roles across English football.

Boateng previously coached in the Blackburn youth setup, taking charge of their under-13s in 2018.

He left Coventry City last year after the arrival of Frank Lampard to the Sky Blues after spells coaching the Ghana national team and Villa.

Blackburn currently sit fifth in the Championship and are hopeful of a play-off place.

Second Cabinet minister accused of lying on their CV – after Rachel Reeves HBOS scandal

Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, on a phone call.

A SECOND Cabinet minister was accused of sexing up their CV last night.

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds, above, repeatedly described himself as a solicitor despite never qualifying.

The Tories said last night he may have broke the law as impersonating a lawyer is an offence.

Reynolds had claimed online and in the Commons chamber that he worked as a solicitor for Manchester firm Addleshaw Goddard before becoming an MP – but he was only a trainee.

In 2011 he tweeted: “Personally, I find being an MP better for work/life balance than being a solicitor and a councillor.”

In a speech in 2014 that he “worked as a solicitor in Manchester city centre” before entering Parliament.

But he never completed his training after quitting to become and MP in 2010 as was never registered with Solicitors Regulation Authority, according to the Guido Fawkes blog.

Last night his office said the claims were a “mistake”.

But Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith hit out: “There is a clear pattern here.

A Labour Party misleading voters, a Chancellor who lied about being an economist and now another minister who has lied about being a solicitor.

Keir Starmer needs to get a grip on his party’s relationship with the truth.” It comes after Chancellor Rachel Reeves was forced to change her online CV after boasting she had worked as a economist at the Bank of England for a decade.

And she removed claims she had been an economist at the Bank of Scotland between 2006 and 2009 after it emerged she actually worked in the complaints department.

Since then she has faced questions over her expenses and other claims she had written for a respected economic publication.

Families of Valdo Calocane’s victims are right to be outraged as blundering cops are let off from their lethal mistakes

WE knew homicidal brute Valdo Calocane slipped through the fingers of negligent medics.

Now we know how bungling police left him free to kill.

a man wearing a lanyard that says staff smiles for the camera
PA
Nottingham stab victims, from left: Ian Coates, 65, Barnaby Webber and his friend Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19[/caption]

Had three cops properly probed an assault he committed at work, he would almost certainly not have been able to kill Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar, and Ian Coates, in Nottingham six weeks later.

Crucially, they even neglected to check his name on their national database.

That would have revealed an outstanding arrest warrant for assaulting a cop.

Yet the Independent Office of Police Conduct considers the officers’ failure too slight to merit sacking them.

Really? The cops admit being slapdash.

That had terrible, lethal consequences.

It was, the IOPC said, a “missed opportunity which may have prevented those attacks”.

The victims’ distraught relatives have been failed by the system at every turn, from the NHS to the CPS which accepted Calocane’s manslaughter plea instead of trying him for murder.

Now even the police watchdog lets off the blundering cops with a slap on the wrist and considers that job done.

The families are right to be outraged.

Fund our forces

KEIR Starmer’s talk of putting British peace-keeping troops into Ukraine is commendable if a little premature.

Those arguing that Ukraine is not our fight are short-sighted.

Keir Starmer is considering putting British troops in Ukraine as peacekeepers[/caption]

Putin’s imperialism must be contained for our sakes too.

But no one yet knows what US- brokered deal might yet be struck.

More worryingly, the PM is failing so far to put our money where his mouth is.

It is bizarre to commit troops amid so many warnings of our dire need to rearm and recruit.

Sir Keir must order the Treasury immediately to find billions for that — and cut elsewhere.

The bloated welfare and aid budgets are indefensible hallmarks of our complacency which we simply cannot now afford.

Rule by judges

LIBERAL judges seem to think they OWN immigration law.

And their boss confirms it.

Baroness Carr apparently wants judges to continue using the ECHR to override Government asylum policy[/caption]

The Lady Chief Justice is outraged that Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch dared to attack the abysmal court ruling that a Gazan family rejected for asylum should be given sanctuary here anyway on human rights grounds.

It’s “unacceptable”, snipes Baroness Carr.

She apparently wants judges to continue using the ECHR to override Government asylum policy, all while shielded from pesky politicians’ barbs.

Well, belt up, Baroness. As the PM rightly says: “It should be Parliament that makes the rules on immigration.”

The problem is judges do too, thanks to human rights laws he is wedded to.

How does he intend to tackle that?

Sir Matt Busby’s medal to be put up for sale – but Man Utd fans will not want to buy it

A MEDAL won by Sir Matt Busby in his playing career is going up for sale.

The family of the legendary Manchester United boss are selling off his Manchester FA Senior Cup winner’s medal from the 1928-29 season – which he won while playing for CITY.

A medal from his playing days for Manchester City is up for sale[/caption]

The nine-carat gold medal – which is engraved “Manchester City F.C, Winners, M. Busby.” – is estimated to fetch between £8,000-12,000.

His private collection of football match programmes between the 1950s-80s will also go under the hammer in live online bidding at Surrey-based Ewbank’s on February 26.

Busby joined City as a teenager and stayed there for eight years before moving to Liverpool in 1936.

The Scotsman, who died aged 84 in 1994, won the league championship five times for United and lifted the European Cup in 1968 – ten years after he survived the Munich air crash.

He is considered by many to be the club’s most important manager along with fellow great Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fergie surpassed the late Sir Matt as United’s longest-serving manager in 2010.

He said of his fellow Scot: “It has been frozen into the memory bank.

Man Utd ratings v Spurs

MANCHESTER UNITED slipped to a 12th defeat in the Premier League with Rasmus Hojlund coming under fire again.

Here’s how SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rated the Manchester United players against an underachieving Spurs side – who are now three places above them in 12th – in North London.

Andre Onana – 3

United can’t do anything with him between the sticks. Can’t be trusted to collect anything.

His opposite number Vicario showed him a thing or two after returning for the first time since Spurs thrashed Man City in November.

At fault for the first goal when he palmed out a relatively weak bouncing shot into Maddison’s path in the 13th minute.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5

An OK performance. Clever link-up play with Zirkzee but couldn’t get hold of Spence down the left-hand side.

Pulled out an excellent cross for the Dutchman’s headed chance late-on.

Matthijs de Ligt – 6

His clearance stopped an obvious 2-0 before the half-an-hour mark.

Harry Maguire – 5

A mixed bag. Long ball over the top for Hojlund’s chance in opening 10 minutes and went on a few attacking runs himself in the first half.

Did well to stop Dejan Kulusevski from having a go at the edge of the box. But bizarrely stopped in his tracks when a cross came flying into Son later on.

Diogo Dalot – 6

A difficult afternoon for the Portugal international as Son and Djed Spence left him for dead a few times.

Hesitated when asked to shoot from five yards to make it 1-0 but helped Onana out with some clearances too.

Patrick Dorgu – 4

A Prem debut to forget. He was almost invisible from the left-hand side. And lacked quality when asked to get involved more in the second half.

Was stupidly caught offside with Bruno Fernandes offloading a stunning cross pitch pass and booked late-on.

Casemiro – 5

Looked every bit a player that hasn’t played Premier League football for two months. Unsurprisingly booked for a late one on Son.

Bizarrely dropped to the turf asking for a free-kick when nobody touched him. Was forced to play 89 minutes with eight teenagers on the bench. A difficult afternoon, indeed.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

Interceptions and breaking up play is not a part of the captain’s game. An uncharacteristically poor cross left United open on the counter.

Did get back to stop Son from having a shot at Onana on the hour mark and started ticking in attack in the final 20 minutes.

Alejandro Garnacho – 4

Looked shaky and cut a frustrated figure after blazing over an absolute SITTER from 10 yards to level the scores.

A bit of a shocker and looked a completely different player to the one who got United into the fifth-round of the FA Cup last week.

Woke up a bit in the second half as Vicario kept him at bay with several superb stops. But the 20-year-old is clearly better off the bench.

Joshua Zirkzee – 6

The best of a desperately poor front three. There’s a street player in there and he’s great with his touches at times.

But curled wide from 23 yards, stuck a header wide in the 70th minute and kicked an air shot in the final five minutes.

Rasmus Hojlund – 3

Is Hojlund the worst No 9 in United’s recent history?

The young Dane, who was unlucky to have a chance saved by Vicario, was second best in every loose ball and kept losing possession.

He was even caught offside after a pass from an Onana goal-kick in the first half – how often do you see that happen?

“I think of Sir Matt Busby as being here forever. He started at the end of the war and went right through to winning the European Cup in 1968.

“The timespan [of his reign] seems to be much longer than mine.

“Of course, there are emotional issues. He had to rebuild the team after Munich. There was so much emotion. I did not have that.

“That is the reason he seemed to have been here forever.”

He added: “The most important piece of advice he gave me was not to read the press.

“It was great advice and I have not read it since. The issue of ex-players at the club was something I have been addressing for quite a long time.

“I wanted to keep all our great players around the club in some capacity. I had Sir Bobby Charlton on the board and Sir Matt was here as well.

“People like that are able to understand the dimensions of Manchester United.

“That is necessary to understand the role of manager. It was very helpful to me.”

Manchester United will be back in action on Saturday, travelling to Goodison Park to take on Everton.

It isn’t limited to adult content, as it has become popular with physical fitness experts and musicians.

Speaking to reporters today from his flashy Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump said that Ukraine’s leadership allowed a war to go on that should’ve never happened.

And it can now quickly escalate into a global war if Europe sends peacekeeping force to Ukraine, as suggested by Sir Keir Starmer and backed by a few other European leaders.

Trump said: “[The war] could end up in a World War Three. Europe is saying they want to send troops to Ukraine.

“All of a sudden you are going to end up with World War Three.”

Meanwhile, top diplomats from Russia and the US today met in Saudi Arabia to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Present at the negotiating table was US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz all sat down in Riyadh’s Diriyah Palace.

They were joined by outspoken Putin cronies Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushako.

After some five hours of crunch talks, both parties reportedly agreed that elections should be held in Ukraine before a final peace deal is achieved in war.

The proposal has now sparked speculations that Zelensky could be ousted and a pro-Russian leadership could be installed in Kyiv.

Trump, however, emphasised that the proposal for a fresh election in Ukraine is something “not coming from the Russian side” but from the US.

He said today: “We haven’t had elections in Ukraine, where we have martial law and the country is blown to smithereens.

“The leader in Ukraine, I hate to say it, but [Zelesnky] is down at 4% approval rating and the people of Ukraine say like, ‘It has been a long time since we have had election’.”

During the crunch talks, The US delegation led by Rubio also agreed not to send any troops to Ukraine.

This opposes Starmer’s call, backed by other European leaders, to put peacekeeping troops in Ukraine as part of any peace deal brokered by the US President.

All we know from day one of the peace talks

  • No new details on when Putin and Trump will meet
  • Full embassy staffing agreed
  • Both sides agree to create “high level teams”
  • Vlad will speak to Zelensky “if necessary”
  • Proposal to hold fresh election before final deal
  • Russia won’t allow Ukraine to join Nato
  • Kremlin wants to end Western sanctions
  • Zelensky postpones Saudi trip as he blasts unfair meeting

Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a rallying cry to Europe urging leaders to “step up” and deploy peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.

The PM vowed the UK will “do our bit” to try and enforce a peace deal.

The bold move put pressure on Britain’s allies to also publicly back the idea of a European peacekeeping force in war-torn Ukraine.

France and Sweden spoke out in favour of the plan at a crisis summit in Paris on Monday but didn’t go as far as Starmer who said he is willing to deploy British troops.

But the idea was dramatically rejected by a number of other fellow leaders.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described Starmer’s pleas as “premature” and “highly inappropriate”.

He then stormed out of the meeting adding that the shear thought of making decisions seemingly on behalf of Ukraine was “irritating”.

The historic US-Russia meeting lasted for almost five hours with Moscow and Washington being joined by Saudi representatives who helped monitor the talks.

Both sides said they were hugely beneficial.

Close Putin aide, Yuri Ushakov, said the talks “went well” as he also revealed negotiators have agreed to talk about the war in Ukraine from either side, IFAX reported.

Russia’s lead negotiator told reporters after the talks: “It was a very serious conversation on all the questions we wanted to touch upon.”

Secretary of State Rubio said the meeting showed him that the Kremlin is finally “willing to begin to engage in a serious process”.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce later said the two sides have agreed to appoint “respective high-level teams to begin working on a path to ending the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible”.

However, Ukraine was notably excluded from the peace talks in Riyadh today, which left both President Zelensky and his European allies annoyed and frustrated.

Zelensky even announced he has postponed his official visit to Saudi Arabia until March 10 – despite him initially being scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

The move has been done in order to not give any “legitimacy” to the US-Russia meeting, two sources told Reuters.

He said any negotiations “should not take place behind our backs” as he reiterated a peace deal will only be agreed if it is fair for all those involved – not just Putin.
