‘He’s about to get fined’ – Gordon Ramsay has his mic muted after making X-rated outburst at F1 75 Live launch event

GORDON RAMSAY was abruptly muted at the F1 75 launch event as he gave his thoughts on the FIA’s controversial crackdown on swearing.

The celebrity, well-known for his foul tongue, is also a huge Formula One and is often seen in attendance at races.

New rules championed by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem will see drivers hit with heavy fines for foul language[/caption]

And Ramsay, 58, was a special guest during F1’s special launch event at the O2 Arena in London paying homage to the motorsport’s milestone 75th anniversary.

The night saw the liveries of the ten teams revealed, also giving fans a chance to see the drivers in their new racesuits including Lewis Hamilton, who was seen in Ferrari colours live for the first time.

But the new F1 season has been overshadowed by a controversial crackdown on swearing by the FIA, the sport’s governing body.

Asked for his opinion on the rules by comedian-turned-presenter Jack Whitehall, Ramsay said: “Come on Jack you’re going to get me into trouble.

“I think it’s an industry language, the fact that these athletes are pushing themselves to the extreme and sometimes it comes out, let them be real. Let it go.

“They’re risking their life everytime, they’re travelling at over 200mph so if the s*** hits the fan.”

But Ramsay’s microphone was cut-out as soon as he began to say the word “s***”, indicating it was a pre-planned stunt.

Whitehall joked: “Gordon please. You’re not getting invited back next year.”

Reacting to the comments on social media, one fan said: “Gordon Ramsay about to get fined.”

A second said: “Gordon Ramsay about to get fined.”

A third said: “Just when I couldn’t love Gordon Ramsay anymore. He absolutely cooked.”

The perceived over-policing of the rules led to clashes between F1 drivers, including Max Verstappen, and the FIA after drivers were fined for swearing during media activities.

However, new rules announced in January are set to see an even more strict policing on swearing enforced with far heavier punishments.

A continued offence for swearing could see drivers hit with a €120,000 (£101.5k) fine, a one-month ban and an unspecified number of championship points.

The first such case under these rules happened last weekend when World Rally Car driver Adrien Fourmaux was fined €10,000 (£8,300) for using inappropriate language during a live post-stage interview.

This included an additional suspended fine of €20,000 (£16,600).

During a press conference at the launch event, Verstappen was asked about the new rules, to which he went full Jose Mourinho by saying he prefers not to speak.

The 4 key factors that determine how long you’ll live – as scientists develop new ‘ageing clock’

WHAT’S the secret to living longer?

While genetics have a part to play, a range of environmental and lifestyle conditions can have a greater impact on our risk of premature death, according to the findings of a new study.

Environmental factors may have greater influence than genes when it comes to life expectancy[/caption]

Researchers from Oxford Population Health used data from nearly half a million UK Biobank participants to assess the influence of 164 environmental factors and genetic risk scores for 22 major diseases on ageing, age-related diseases, and premature death.

They used a unique measure of ageing (a new “ageing clock”) to monitor how rapidly people are ageing using blood protein levels.

This enabled them to link environmental factors (or exposures, as they refer to them) that predict early mortality with biological ageing.

This measure was previously shown to detect age-related changes, not only in the UK Biobank but also in two other large cohort studies from China and Finland.

They identified 25 environmental factors that infuence the ageing clock.

Of these 25, they identified four that had the most impact on mortality and biological ageing, more so than genes:

  • Smoking– smoking is a major cause of death and increases the risk of many serious diseases
  • Socioeconomic status – people with lower income and education levels tend to have a shorter life expectancy due to factors like limited access to healthcare, and poorer health behaviours
  • Lack of physical activity – this was linked to increased mortality by significantly raising the risk of developing chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and dementia
  • Living conditions – which significantly impact mortality rates by influencing access to healthcare, exposure to environmental hazards, lifestyle choices, and overall stress levels

They found environmental factors to be almost 10 times more important than genetic factors.

Environmental factors explained 17 per cent of the variation in risk of death, compared to less than two per cent explained by genetic predisposition.

They also found early life exposures, including body weight at 10 years old, influenced ageing and risk of premature death 30 to 80 years later.

Whether a person’s mum smoked around the time of birth was also an early exposure risk.

“The early life exposures are particularly important as they show that environmental factors accelerate ageing early in life but leave ample opportunity to prevent long-lasting diseases and early death,” says Professor Cornelia van Duijn, St Cross Professor of Epidemiology at Oxford Population Heath and senior author of the paper.

Environmental exposures had a greater effect on diseases of the lung, heart, and liver, while genetic risk dominated for dementias and breast cancer.

Professor Cornelia said: “Our research demonstrates the profound health impact of exposures that can be changed either by individuals or through policies to improve socioeconomic conditions, reduce smoking, or promote physical activity.

“While genes play a key role in brain conditions and some cancers, our findings highlight opportunities to mitigate the risks of chronic diseases of the lung, heart and liver which are leading causes of disability and death globally.”

The 25 lifestyle and environmental exposures

Those with an asterisk are plausibly modifiable:

  • Pack years of smoking*
  • Smoking status (current or previous vs. never)*
  • Maternal smoking around the time of your birth*
  • Being employed or self-employed (vs. part-time work, unemployed, unpaid/volunteer work, retired, stay at home, or unable to work due to disability)*
  • Total physical activity*
  • Going to the gym once a week or more*
  • Household income*
  • Renting a home from a local council vs. owning outright*
  • Years of education*
  • Townsend deprivation index (material deprivation of the area in which you live according to postcode)*
  • Living in a flat vs. a house or bungalow*
  • Experiencing financial difficulty in the past 2 years*
  • Being unemployed (vs. part-time work, being employed, unpaid/volunteer work, retired, stay at home, or unable to work due to disability)*
  • Having adequate heating (from an open fire vs. none, gas fire, or gas hob)*
  • Living at home with a partner (vs. versus living alone or with the other non-partners [siblings, parents, children, etc])*
  • Hours of sleep per night*
  • Frequency of taking naps during the day*
  • Frequency of feeling tired*
  • Frequency of feeling unenthusiastic*
  • Feeling ‘fed-up’ often*
  • How easily one’s skin gets tanned*
  • Frequency of eating cheese*
  • Being plumper at 10 years old compared to average*
  • Being shorter at 10 years old compared to average
  • Self-reported ethnicity

Dr Austin Argentieri, lead author of the study at Oxford Population Health and Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, stressed studying the environment and exposome should be a key priority for any researchers studying how we age and why we develop age-related chronic diseases.

He said: “Investments in understanding and modifying our environments will likely have a profound impact on improving health for all of us.”

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday 18 February, Dr Argentieri added: “I don’t think it was a surprise to us to learn that the environment matters more than genetics for mortality and ageing, but I think it was perhaps reassuring to see that the magnitude of that was so high.

“If we were surprised at anything we were surprised at just how stark the difference was how much more the environment matters than genetics.”

How to live longer

Live happier and healthier for longer with the NHS’s top 10 tips:

Watch what you eat and drink

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is crucial for good health, energy and preventing illness.

Look after your teeth

Brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily to prevent gum disease. Gum disease can be linked to diabetes, stroke, heart disease and rheumatoid arthritis.

Stay active

Regular exercise can help lower your risk of obesityheart diseasestrokediabetes, and even cancer.

Make the most of your GP

It’s a good idea to get your blood pressure and cholesterol levels tested by your doctor. High readings can increase your risk of stroke and heart disease.

Get a vitamin boost

Lots of people have vitamin D deficiency but don’t know it. The condition has been linked to cognitive impairment, bone problems, and cardiovascular disease. Make sure to get outdoors during the spring and summer months, and during autumn and winter you might want to consider taking a vitamin D supplement.

Take care of your feet

Look after your feet by applying moisturiser, cutting your toenails straight across, and making sure you wear footwear that fits properly and supports your feet. Contact your GP if your feet become painful.

Sort out your sleep

Getting enough sleep is important for staying healthy. Avoid insomnia by cutting down on daytime naps, establishing a bedtime routine and going to bed at the same time each night.

Take the tests

As we age our hearing and eyesight can be affected, so it’s important to get them checked regularly.

Stay in touch

Spending time with other people can prevent you from feeling lonely or anxious.

Give up smoking

Smoking is linked to a range of different health problems, including heart disease and lung cancer. If you stop, regardless of your age, your circulation, lung capacity, and energy levels will improve.

Love Island feud explodes as two stars snub Olivia Hawkins over leaked messages row – and Ron Hall slams ‘fake’ messages

LOVE Island feud has exploded between Olivia Hawkins and a number of her co-stars over the leaked messages row.

Olivia caused a stir when she claimed she had seen text messages from Grace Jackson saying she’d “do anything to win” All Stars.

Grace immediately denied it and insisted that she wanted to see the “receipts”.

Now Grace and Luca Bish have unfollowed Olivia on social media in a snub after fans say she tried to “sabotage” their relationship.

Grace’s best friend and former series 11 co-star Matilda Draper has also unfollowed former pal Olivia.

While All Stars’ Ron Hall has hit out at Olivia for getting involved and branded the messages “fake”.

One fan asked the star on Snapchat: “What do you think about Liv trying to sabotage Grace and Luca by being messy with those texts?”

Ron replied: “Shouldn’t have happened, messages are all fake and doesn’t help when you’ve got half of TikTok making new fake ones.”

Earlier this week, the axed Islanders returned to the villa for a brutal twist as they held the power to vote one couple off.

Harriett Blackmore ended up in an explosive clash with Liv, as she attempted to shade her and Ronnie’s romance as a “PR stunt”.

Liv also claimed Grace Jackson was is in it to win it and not genuine in her relationship with Luca Bish.

During last night’s final, Ronnie slammed Olivia and said he would share the “photoshopped picture” that she had sent him.

The Sun revealed the photoshopped photo yesterday which was sent from Olivia to Ronnie not long after Harriett and the footballer’s split last September.

The original photo was a snap of Ronnie and Harriett walking hand-in-hand on a date night.

Olivia had photoshopped her face onto Harriett’s body, in what was most likely a bit of harmless flirty banter.

Way back at the start of this series of All Stars – before Harriett arrived as a bombshell – Liv claimed Ronnie sent her messages while he was still in a relationship with her.

Olivia returned to the villa earlier this week and said Ronnie and Harriett’s relationship wouldn’t last on the outside.

Olivia revealed: “I feel like there’s one particular couple I probably would have swapped from things I’ve seen on the outside…”

She then casted a vote for Harriett and Ronnie and explained: “I do think that if things don’t work out first time, going back to it is always a risk.”

Harriett fired back: “The girl literally photoshopped her head onto mine and sent it to Ronnie and he still didn’t want you on the outside or in the Villa…”

Olivia responded: “I didn’t want to go on a date with Ronnie.”

Liv claimed earlier this series that Ronnie messaged her while he was seeing Harriett, 24, last year.

Harriett was in a relationship with Ronnie Vint last series and left the show with him, but the pair split just three months later.

Ronnie insisted he wasn’t in an exclusive relationship with Harriett, who he left the show with last summer.

Elsewhere, Olivia told the Islanders that she had seen text messages from Grace saying she would “do anything to win” All Stars.

But a furious Grace was quick to deny it, despite Olivia insisting she had “receipts”.

Not holding back, Olivia said: “Erm, so I’ve seen text messages of Grace just saying to someone that she would do whatever it takes to win the show this time.”

Grace, who coupled up with Luca, looked horrified at Olivia’s comment, before she yelled: “Wait, what? From who?”

Olivia continued: “So I was just a bit confused,” as Grace screamed: “From who?”

The rest of the Islanders were left stunned by Olivia’s information, as Grace’s best friend Harriett exclaimed: “What?!”

But Grace continued to deny it and said it was “not in her personality” to send messages like that.

I live for free in central London in my campervan – it’s freezing but I sleep easy knowing I’ve avoided paying £1k rent

A YOUNG man has revealed why he ditched paying £1,000 to a landlord for a crowded houseshare in London and decided to live in a van instead.

Lewis, from the UK, is now able to live in Central London without spending a penny on pricey rent or council tax.

While he admits van life can be freezing – he says it’s worth it to not pay a landlord[/caption]

Taking to social media, he showed his followers a typical day in his home on wheels while working full-time.

The first thing he did after waking up was to check there were no parking wardens around.

Once he got the all-clear, he whipped himself up a bowl of breakfast before heading out on his morning walk.

Lewis admitted that living in a tiny space in a busy city can be difficult, but much preferred it to paying rent.

“People often ask me if it’s difficult living in a van in a city,” he said.

“It is, but not as difficult as paying a grand a month to a property conglomerate based in Dubai for the pleasure of sharing a flat in Catford.”

According to recent reports, the average renting price in London is an eye-watering £2,100, so we can see why Lewis would want to avoid it.

The nomad added that one of the pros of living in a van is that he can make anywhere he parks his van a garden.

But unfortunately in London, the views aren’t all that great as he made his way past piles of bin bags and a thrown-out mattress.

“I don’t pay council tax, but if I did I’d be fuming,” he joked after observing the scenery.

Once he made his way back, he noticed someone had smashed his wing mirror but Lewis had predicted this would be a problem in London and had a replacement to hand.

Lewis then continued to work for the rest of the day before settling down with a bowl of spaghetti bolognese for dinner.

While Lewis loves the freedom of van life, he did note that it can get unbearably cold.

“It’s the middle of February, and it’s freezing in the van tonight,” he said.

But Lewis revealed in the comments that he keeps layered up and using an electric blanket and electric cushion from Stoov to keep toasty.

“I can sleep easy knowing I’ve gone the whole day without making any landlords richer,” he added

Is it legal to live in a van?

IF you are looking to live in a van to save money or travel, you'll be pleased to know that there are no UK laws stopping you.

However, you must ensure your vehicle has passed its MOT and is fully road legal.

There could also be restrictions on where you can park up to sleep in your van.

For example, local authorities place restrictions on certain streets or lay-bys, and you could be fined if you spend the night there.

It could also be unsafe to stop in certain locations, particularly at night-time.

Check the The Highway Code guide for guidance.

Public Reaction

The clip posted to his TikTok account @lewis.ldn.vanlife has gone viral with over 874k views and 44k likes.

People were impressed by Lewis’ living situation and 937 viewers took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “So jealous, fair play to you mate, fed up with paying ridiculous amounts of rent.”

Another commented: “What’s the point of working from home in London? Why not go to Epping Forest or somewhere nice? Cool van though.”

“Landlord here. Fair play mate. Good on you. You’ll save a fortune in the long run,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Well done you.”

“Don’t blame you. Bet you save loads!” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Well done mate you hacked the system.”

Tiger Woods’ TGL teammates break down in laughter after golf icon suffers ‘most embarrassing moment of career’

TIGER WOODS suffered the “most embarrassing moment” of his career during an appearance at a TGL indoor match.

The golf star was caught in an unfortunate mixup when taking one of his shots.

Woods, 49, was lining up a shot and asked for the yardage to be confirmed.

He heard a call of 99 yards – caddies often drop the first number when it appears obvious.

But for Woods the distance being 100 yards further to the pin was not obvious to him.

The 15-time major champion hit what he thought would be an ideal shot as it travelled 100 yards.

However, as the ball bounced down on the simulator, it had clearly only travelled half the required distance.

Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim broke down in laughter at their Jupiter Links team-mate’s misfortune.

Woods attempted to defend himself after losing the 13th hole against New York Golf Club’s Cameron Young.

He said: “I heard 99 yards, so I went out there and hit it.

“One of the most embarrassing moments in my golfing career just happened.

“I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.”

The costly error did little to effect the final score of the match as New York won 10-3.

Fans were just as shocked by the gaffe as they reacted on social media.

One posted: “Ohh nooo, that’s gotta hurt.”

A second wrote: “Don’t worry Tiger. This has happened to me too. We’re the same.”

A third commented: “I’ve had this mixup countless times, don’t worry Tiger.”

A fourth said: “Tough break, but I guess even legends make mistakes sometimes.”

Another added: “I always blame my caddy, too!”

It follows on from Woods being left red-faced after breaking one of his own created rules as he hit a shot after the time clock ran out.

Pope ‘tells aides he won’t survive & is preparing for death’ amid double-pneumonia battle as Pontiff ‘prepares legacy’

THE pope has warned aides he may not survive the illness he is battling in hospital, and is preparing his legacy in case he dies.

Pope Francis was rushed to hospital last Friday, where he has now been diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs.

Doctors have told him “in no uncertain terms he was at risk of dying”.

But now, the Pope fears he will not recover from the illness, and is rushing to tie up loose ends ahead of his successor.

The Pontiff has been a patient at Rome’s Gemelli hospital, where he was taken after suffering with bronchitis for a week.

Vatican officials released an update on his condition on Monday, explaining a longer hospital stay was needed in the face of a “complex clinical picture” involving a “polymicrobial infection of the respiratory tract”.

They also gave hope to Catholics around the world by revealing his condition was “stable” and he did not have a fever.

But now, it seems the Pope himself is not so optimistic about his outlook.

I was a teen mum then moved 800 miles for my ‘trafficker’ boyfriend, 48 – my mum disowned me when I fell pregnant again

AS JAY McCormick toasts her husband over a posh dinner she’s all too aware of the whispers and stares from fellow diners.

“He must be rich,” says one while another table openly laughs at the pair.

A young woman and an older man sitting together in a car.
True Life Stories
Jay McCormick found love with her husband Matthew, 29 years her senior[/caption]
Photo of a young woman and an older man smiling for a selfie.
True Life Stories
The pair met on the dating website Plent of Fish and moved in as soon as they met[/caption]

But Jay pays them no mind. Matthew might be almost 30 years her senior but they both know that age is just a number.

She met her 49-year-old hubby on Plenty of Fish and moved across the country to move in with him the same day they met in the flesh.

They were engaged just two weeks later.

Jay says: “I didn’t set out for an older man, and Matthew didn’t set out for a younger person. It just happened.

“We want to encourage other age-gap couples to never be ashamed and not to let any criticism stop you from being happy.”

In August 2023, Jay was 19 years old when she was living in South Dakota and made a profile on the popular dating website.

She says: “Despite only being 19, I was in the middle of a divorce.

“Mum, and my family, were devout Christians, not allowed to cut their hair and only wearing long gowns to cover their bodies.

“I fell pregnant with my partner, and my family wouldn’t allow me to live in ‘sin.’ I was pressured into marriage.

“The situation ended up unhealthy and we split. But we were still living together until I found a new place.

“So when I made my dating profile that day I hoped I’d find the right person for me. I was still eager to find love again.

“At first I had disgusting sexual messages, and unsolicited penis pics. I ignored every creep.”

The next day, stranger, Matthew, messaged Jay through the website, calling her beautiful.

He lived 800 miles away, in a village in Oklahoma, and owned a farm.

Jay says: “Looking at his profile, I saw a much older man who looked decades older.

“For a moment, I worried he wanted to be my sugar daddy, or that he wasn’t real.

“But we got chatting and he was really kind and sincere. He told me he was 48 and I told him I was 19.

“I also said I was two months pregnant, and planning a divorce. He was incredibly caring.

“Every day, he set an alarm to remind me to take my pre-natal meds, and put on my stretch mark cream.

“We spoke for hours on end each night. I was smitten.”

The mysterious stranger across the country had stolen Jay’s heart and she fell in love.

The pair became a couple, despite their 30-year-age gap and having never met.

The next month, Jay moved out of her ex-boyfriend’s home and into a hotel.

Matthew then set off for a 2-day car drive across the U.S to meet Jay in South Dakota.

Jay says: “I got very nervous. I thought, what if he’s a catfish? Or if he was dangerous.

“I knew what a scary world the internet was. But as he pulled up outside in his truck I ran over to him and hugged him tight.

“My worries melted away and we kissed passionately. It felt like we’d known each-other a lifetime.

Taking a leap and risking everything for Matthew was scary. But it was the best decision of my life

Jay McCormick

“Right away, we went to my hotel room. We talked for hours, before deciding I’d return home with him.

“I packed two small suitcases and two bags. Then Matthew and I left my life behind and hit the road.

“I settled in at his home and loved it there. But later that week, I suffered a miscarriage. I was heartbroken but Matthew was incredible and took work off to care for me.

“Taking a leap and risking everything for Matthew was scary. But it was the best decision of my life.”

Sadly Jay was diagnosed with PCOS and Asherman syndrome, a condition where scar tissue formed inside her uterus.

She let her ex know they’d lost the baby, and two weeks after moving in, Matthew proposed to her at home.

Jay says: “It was the happiest moment of my life. Although my divorce wasn’t complete, I wanted Matthew to be mine forever.

“His family were amazing and welcomed me in with open arms. His mum even helped me plan the wedding.

“But Matthew’s two children, in their mid 20s, were estranged from him. He hadn’t seen or heard from them in years.

“Not long after, my mum blocked me on everything after she found out. Whilst the rest of my family, including my 13 siblings, blocked and disowned me as well.

A-list age gap relationships that have stood the test of time

  1. Kris Jenner & Corey Gamble – 25 years
The Kardashian matriarch, 69, met her younger man, 44, at a mutual friend’s 40th birthday party in Ibiza. They’ve been together since August 2014.
  2. Sam & Aaron Taylor-Johnson – 23 years
The director, 57, and actor, 34, reportedly met at a film audition in 2009, and were married by 2012. The pair share two daughters and Sam has two children from a previous marriage.
  3. Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley & Jason Statham – 20 years
The model, 37, started dating actor Jason, 57, in 2010. They were wed in 2016 and have since welcomed a son and a daughter together.
  4. Catherine Zeta-Jones & Michael Douglas – 25 years
Catherine, 55, was introduced to Michael, 80, a film festival in 1996 and engaged three years later. Shortly after their engagement, the couple welcomed a son and married in 2000.

“They agreed that I’d gone against the church. I was cut off. It hurt deeply, but deep down I knew I deserved better.

“After two months together, Matthew and I fell pregnant with twins. We were so shocked as Matthew’s vasectomy he’d had 10 years before had naturally reversed.

“I then received a letter through the post from my mum too. She wrote that I’d put shame on her and the church.

“She said I was making the biggest mistake of my life marrying Matthew and that she’d never approve.

“I realised then that she and my family only cared about their reputation, not my happiness. I scrunched up the piece of paper and threw it in the bin.”

Sadly the disapproval of Jay and Matthew’s relationship didn’t stop there. They began receiving cruel taunts from strangers and locals.

She says: “One night we were at dinner and the wait staff were speaking in Spanish talking about us.

“Little did they know, I spoke Spanish. I heard them laugh ‘He must have a lot of money.’

Everywhere we went, locals continued to point at us. We became the city’s gossip

Jay McCormick

“Then right after we paid our bill, I thanked them for the meal in Spanish. They all turned pale in embarrassment.

“Every food shop we went to, people not only laughed at us, but they pointed.”

Jay claims a stranger in their town even took a photo of her and Matthew holding hands whilst shopping before uploading the photo to a local Facebook group called ‘Trashy people in our county.’

The group, which had hundreds of thousands of locals in it, saw the photo labelled ‘Gross grooming relationship.’

Jay says: “Underneath, there were over 300 comments ridiculing us. Some said ‘They’re sick in the head.’

“Others wrote ‘Must be in a cult.’ And ‘Shes come from the other side of the country, she has been trafficked by this man.’

“It was horrific. I was a grown adult who’d consented. Matthew was confused and angry too.

“Everywhere we went, locals continued to point at us. We became the city’s gossip.

“Even on our business Instagram and TikTok, I made reels about the chickens and we were trolled on there.

“Locals wrote ‘15 with a 50-year-old man,’ ‘His life insurance must be good’, ‘His must pay for everything’ and that I was ‘Doing the long game waiting for him to die.’

“It was relentless. At first, I refused to let them get the better of me, ignoring it all.

“But the trolls then said our unborn children were a product of grooming.

“I could handle them abusing us. But no-one would speak ill against our children.

“I began replying, defending ourselves constantly. Then sadly on Valentine’s day in 2024, we lost the twins.

“As Matthew and I grieved, whilst dealing with so much hate in the local area, it was too much to bear.”

In the end, the couple didn’t allow anyone to tear them apart, and claim it instead made them stronger.

Despite the world against them, Matthew and Jay married in August 2024, in a private courthouse ceremony after Jay’s divorce was finalised with her ex.

Jay says: “Now, Matthew and I haven’t given up our dream to be parents. And the abuse online is still ongoing too.

“Only the other week someone called me a ‘grandpa fucker’ and another wrote Matthew ‘better dye his hair because it looks like he raped me.’

“I’ve learned to laugh it off now. In fact, it’s becoming boring, and people need to get new material.

“To anyone that judges a couple like us, it reflects more poorly on you that it does us. Matthew’s the love of my life.”

I’m one sentence away from ending my career at all times – it’s car crash TV and I’m terrified, admits F1 legend

FORMULA 1 legend Martin Brundle has branded his famous grid-walk interviews “car crash TV” and admits he’s walking a career tightrope.

The racing driver-turned-broadcaster, 65, prowls the racing grids in the moments before each race looking for superstar VIPs to interview.

Over the years, many have gone viral – from Ozzy Osbourne rambling at him incoherently to a very awkward exchange with Machine Gun Kelly about his music career.

Sometimes celebs refuse to engage altogether like when Cara Delevingne controversially shunned him at the 2023 British GP, and he’s even been bundled from the race track by security.

The chaotic, unscripted nature of his interviews has left him terrified it could all come crashing down on him live on air.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun at F1 75 Live at London‘s O2 Arena, he said: “I’m one sentence away from the end of my career at all times, or being cancelled.

“I’m terrified of the whole thing, because it’s live and it’s just pure car crash television.

Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Thee Stallion, I don’t know, getting knocked about by security guards. They’re the ones that people like.

“And then I meet some really lovely, fascinating, world-class people, politicians and royalty and movie stars, and I’m very privileged with people like me on the grid.”

Often celebrity guests admit to knowing nothing about the sport, something that drives die-hard fans who could only dream of being amongst the drivers on race day up the wall.

“I understand that,” said Brundle. “Because we watch Formula 1 year in, year out, racing ourselves, and they’re on the grid and they actually don’t know anything about it, and quite clearly don’t really want to be there.

“They’re just selling a movie or something. I get that, but for Formula 1, they are A-listers.”

The racing veteran, who spent 12 years as a driver from 1984 to 1996, said that there are occasions when many lucky enough to be on the guest list don’t even turn up, with the new Las Vegas track a particular victim of no shows.

He said: “I get a list through on it, race morning, with 70 people on it. Half of them don’t turn up, but you get through and you’re like, ‘I’ve not heard of many of those’. Oh, 65 million followers on Instagram. Oh, 140 million followers on Instagram.

“How did I not hear of these people? Clearly somebody has. I think it’s all part of the incoming tide, all the boats float higher. That’s part of why something like this works today, and it hasn’t happened in the past.”

Last night’s celebration of the sport’s 75th anniversary saw all 10 F1 teams unveil their 2025 liveries ahead of the new season.

A spectacular production gave each team their moment in the spotlight to show off their driver partnerships and new look cars.

Host Jack Whitehall brought the laughs, while the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Kane Brown and Take That provided music.

The most anticipated moment of the night was the chance to see Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari red for the first time.

He certainly looked the part and Martin believes the move from Mercedes will reinvigorate the seven-time world champion.

He said: “I think Lewis will be energised completely. He’s faster. Think back to Silverstone last year, think back to Las Vegas last year.

“Lewis was fast as, and I think he’ll want to show everybody he’s made yet another good decision.

“He’s got his hands full because Charles Leclerc is very fast. All the youngsters there, they’re barely half his age, some of them, and they’re fast and they’re fearless.

“I think he’s got a lot of hard work ahead, but I would never write Lewis out of my mind.”
