From The Chase to Pointless, the easiest TV quiz show to win revealed – but do you agree?

THE easiest TV quiz show to win has officially been revealed – but where does your favourite rank among the line-up.

Over 2,000 telly watchers have had their say in a survey to determine how they would rate their chances as a member of the public on each of Britain’s biggest quizzing programmes.

Three contestants stand at podiums on a game show set.

But only 2% of Brits thought they’d do well and win on Only Connect[/caption]

The recent survey, conducted with Spin Genie’s AR Treasure Quest launch, found that more than double the amount of Brits think they would fare better on one programme in comparison to its nearest ranked second place.

21% of people regarded ITV‘s teatime show Tipping Point, hosted by Ben Shephard, as the easiest to win with them backing their selves for the best chance of success with the machine-based show.

Meanwhile, only 10% of people backed The Chase as being the easiest programme to win.

Despite this being a big enough percentage to land it in second place, Tipping Point enjoyed having the crown by a country mile.

However, things get a bit tougher when it comes to third place with a total of three shows battling it out.

BBC favourites Pointless and The Weakest Link both found themselves with a 7% chance of being won as did Ant and Dec‘s top money game show, Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win.

On the flip side, only 2% of Brits thought that they’d be able to be triumphant on BBC quiz show, Only Connect.

Hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, the show presents very cryptic clues to its two teams with them being able to work together in order to work out a connection.

The programme is known for being notoriously tough with only the best brainboxes able to secure wins on the show.

News of Tipping Point reigning as the easiest TV quiz to win will be good news for many after plans for more episodes of the show to be recorded were revealed by The Sun.

Sources confirmed to us that despite production on the show having been inactive since summer 2023, new episodes are being lined up to be filmed later in the year.

Prue Leith’s controversial step to make roast potatoes leaves fans outraged – but they’re extra crispy and golden

PRUE Leith has sparked outrage after revealing the controversial extra step she takes to get her roast potatoes extra crunchy.

The Great British Bake Off judge has been sharing some of her top cookery tips on her TikTok page, and recently decided to post a clip explaining how she gets her roasties cooked to perfection.

But the 84-year-old couldn’t have predicted the response her revelation would have.

“I’m often asked, how do you make the absolutely perfect roast potato?” She began the video.

Prue then said that she starts off the “classic way” – parboiling the potatoes until they’re “just beginning to break up a little bit at the outside”.

After draining away the water, she puts the potatoes back into the pan with the lid on and gives it a “mighty great shake” to “rough up the edges”.

It’s at this point that Prue adds what she considers to be the magic ingredient.

“Then you get a handful of breadcrumbs, and put it in with your potatoes,” she said.

Prue continues her unique take on the traditional side dish as she pours melted butter into the potatoes – “just to make sure they’re all greasy”.

She then transfers the potatoes into a roasting tin, and covers them with MORE breadcrumbs before putting them into the oven “until they’re nice and brown and crisp”.

“So when they come out, there you have it, nice perfect roast potatoes!” Prue concluded.

“Try these absolutely gorgeous roast potatoes with your next roast dinner and let me know what you think!” Prue added in the caption. “Happy feasting!”

But people quickly took to the comments section to weigh in on Prue’s unique take on the recipe, with many slamming her for including breadcrumbs.

“Nope, no breadcrumbs necessary!” One person raged.

“I’m not even British and I know how wrong this is,” another added.

“Breadcrumbs on a roast potato – never!” a third shouted.

“Never heard of using breadcrumbs on roast potatoes,” someone else said.

The nation’s most peculiar food combinations revealed

Brits reveal unusual food combinations that are so wrong, they feel right

Research by LNER claims that a whopping four in five Brits experiment with unusual flavours, and almost a quarter have a ‘guilty pleasure’ when it comes to unconventional food combinations,

  1. Crisps and chocolate
  2. Cheese and chocolate
  3. Crisps in jam sandwich
  4. Chips and milkshake
  5. Cheese and bananas
  6. Apples with salt and pepper
  7. Avocado and chocolate
  8. Popcorn and hot sauce
  9. Tuna and marmite
  10. Gherkins and peanut butter

“Sorry wait what, breadcrumbs??????” Another questioned.

“Never ever seen potatoes done that way before … breadcrumbs and melted butter… is it a p**s take?” Someone else wondered.

Others were more on board with the suggestion, and said they’d be interested to try it out for themselves.

Cooks usually opt for plain flour, cornflour or starch, or semolina to get roast potatoes crispy.

AI-generated images show ‘Gaza 2035’ blueprint that was shown to Netanyahu just months before Trump’s ‘Riviera’ plan

BENJAMIN Netanyahu shared a detailed vision for Gaza just months before Donald Trump unveiled controversial plans for the enclave.

Complete with surreal CGI imagery, the Israeli PM revealed a blueprint to redevelop Gaza into an idyllic urban and rural settlement.

The proposal echoes Trump‘s scheme to revamp Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East” – announced last week at a press conference with Netanyahu by his side.

It’s thought Trump could have been shown this plan for Gaza – as well as a report prepared by George Washington University professor Joseph Pelzman that was sent to the president’s advisers last year.

Nadav Shtrauchler, a former strategist for Netanyahu, told The Sun: “I think it’d been shown to Trump one way or another.

“Trump didn’t wake up in the morning and come up with the idea, there would have been routes to this, probably from Israel – it was planted somehow.”

Grand designs dubbed “Gaza 2035” that may have inspired Trump show the strip flooded with futuristic skyscrapers and a 132-mile railway to NEOM – a speculative $500 billion Saudi city.

War-torn Gaza would be transformed from a terrorism hotbed to a glistening gem in the Middle East landscape.

The proposal promised “US dominance” and to deliver Gaza “from crisis to prosperity” by rebuilding the enclave “from nothing”.

Ultra-modern mocked-up images show the strip as a utopian region, rich in high-tech projects and direct connections to other countries.

The ultimate goal would be to turn Gaza into a self-governing free trade zone with offshore oil rigs and solar energy fields in three brief but concise steps.

In the first part of the plan, Israel would spend 12 months ensuring the region free of Hamas to create a “safe zone” – starting in the north and working down to the south.

Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE would be involved in supervising humanitarian aid – managed by Palestinians from Gaza.

The second phase – pinned to last between five and ten years – would see a coalition of Arab countries form a multilateral body called the Gaza Rehabilitation Authority.

Officials from these nations would “supervise” Gaza’s reconstruction efforts and manage the strip’s finances.

A “Marshall Plan” would be implemented – reminiscent of the American programme for the reconstruction of Europe after World War Two.

In the final stage of the scheme, Palestinians will govern the strip independently after signing the Abraham Accords.

Netanyahu avoided commenting on Gaza’s future for months, but was handed the proposal late in 2023.

It was drawn up by a group of businessmen who are mostly Israeli – and close to the PM.

By May 2024, Netanyahu circulated the proposal after it was examined by his inner government circle.

Netanyahu has been working on a vision for Gaza behind the scenes and it is understood his input influenced Trump’s announcement

During Netanyahu’s visit to Washington last week Trump proposed the US takeover Gaza and that the two million Palestinians living there be resettled elsewhere.

Where would Palestinians relocate to?

DONALD Trump said two million Palestinians would have to leave Gaza before it could be redeveloped.

He said those displaced would go to “various domains” – including Egypt and Jordan.

Both countries and other Arab nations have rejected this notion.

Suggestions have also been made that Palestinians could be resettled in Ireland.

Israel’s defence minister last week tabled the idea of taking tens of thousands of Palestinians out of Gaza by air and sea.

Israel Katz said Ireland, Spain and Norway –  which last year recognised a Palestinian state – would be “legally obligated” to take displaced Gaza residents.

He said: “Countries like Spain, Ireland, Norway, and others, which have levelled accusations and false claims against Israel over its actions in Gaza, are legally obligated to allow any Gaza resident to enter their territories.”

Dr Kobby Barda told The Sun: “There are 150,00 ghost houses in Ireland.

“If you have a ghost house where no one is living, you need to pay tax to the government.

“There will be no problem for Israel to get them to Ben Gurion airport, and put them on a plane and fly them over to Dublin.”

Ireland’s foreign minister Simon Harris hit back at Katz’s remarks, branding them “unhelpful and provocative”.

Calling the strip a “demolition site”, the president said the region could be turned into a “Middle East Riviera” under US control.

PAIRS Foundation CEO Seth Eisenberg, who has known Netanyahu for more than four decades, said: “I imagine the idea to significantly redevelop Gaza came from both the Israeli Prime Minister and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law.”

Trump’s shock announcement has become a worldwide talking point – with multiple countries describing the plan as “dangerous”.

It would shatter decades of US foreign policy which has emphasised a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians.

But Trump doubled down on his vision – calling it a “beautiful real estate plan” and a “development for the future”.

And Netanyahu praised his ally’s scheme as the “first original idea to solve this problem once and for all”.

He told Breitbart News: “It’s a compelling vision to solve the problem when nothing else has worked.”

Trump’s proposal may also have been inspired by Professor Pelzman’s 49-page report titled “An Economic Plan for Rebuilding Gaza: A BOT Approach”.

Pelzman – who cofounded The Center of Excellence for the Economic Study of the Middle East and North Africa – shared his paper with Trump’s team last July.

In his report, American-Israeli academic Pelzman claims the war has offered an “opportunity for a new and fresh approach to an old problem”.

Much of Gaza has been reduced to rubble from Israeli bombardment after Netanyahu vowed to wipe out Hamas in revenge for the terror proxy’s October 7 atrocity.

Pelzman suggests creating three 4km buffer zones with Israel and Egypt.

High-rise housing would take up the eastern side of the strip, while the western side facing the Mediterranean would be reserved for “seafront property”.

Agricultural areas and greenhouses would fill the space in the between – with everything built after Gaza is “completely emptied out”.

Trump is understood to have called Netanyahu about the plan – telling the Israeli PM the enclave is a “prime piece of real estate”.

Trump's golden pager

BENJAMIN Netanyahu gifted Donald Trump a golder pager during his visit to the White House.

In a nod to the deadly pager attack on Hezbollah in September, the bleeper comes with instructions to “press with both hands”.

A small placard on the bottom says: “To President Donald J. Trump, our greatest friend and greatest ally.”

Trump thanked Netanyahu for the symbolic gift and praised the “grand” operation.

Netanyahu’s office said the gift “symbolizes the Prime Minister’s decision that led to a turning point in the war and the starting point for breaking the will of the terrorist organization Hezbollah”.

Dr Kobby Barda first shared Pelzman’s plan on social media and met with him to discuss it on his podcast.

Pelzman said: “I figured why don’t I write sort of an out-of-the-box perspective on how to fix Gaza after the war is finished.

“The paper went to the Trump people because they were the ones who had an interest in it, not the Biden people.”

Historian Dr Barda, who was previously the deputy director general at Israel’s tourism ministry, told The Sun: “I’ve been sharing this plan for more than half a year.

“At first, people thought as was crazy and laughed at me and told me to get my brain examined.

“I was overwhelmed with the very firm foundations of Professor Pelzman and his programme that I said if Trump is elected, then I believe it will move forward.”

During his announcement last week, Trump said the US would “take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too”.

“We’ll own it,” he said, adding that two million Palestinians would be relocated to countries including Egypt and Jordan

But he later reiterated that America would not be investing any money – nor boots on the ground.

Trump has long taken interest in the Middle East and during his first presidency unveiled a plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He released the economic part of the plan, titled Peace to Prosperity in June 2019, followed by the political portion in January 2020.

Netanyahu was again by Trump’s side as he revealed the proposal, which was authored by the Republican’s son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner.

It laid out a “vision to improve the lives of the Palestinian and Israeli people”.

The 181-page dossier included a section touting Gaza as a potential “successful global tourism destination”.

It reads: “Over 40km of coastline in Gaza along the Mediterranean Sea could develop into a modern metropolitan city overlooking the
beach.

“To unlock the benefits of increased tourism in the West Bank and Gaza, this project will support investment in hotels, food and beverage establishments, and other tourism-related industries.

“Additional funding will be used to improve hospitality training and to renovate and upgrade tourist sites.”

UK weather: Rain turns into SNOW as Met Office warns Brits to ‘be careful’ in -10C cold snap – check map of locations

THE Met Office has warned Brits to “be careful” as rain and snow are predicted to continue through the weekend.

Much of the UK has seen “anticyclonic gloom” over the past week causing dull skies with some areas not having seen the sun in more than a week.

A video of snow falling in Norfolk was shared on social media[/caption]

Rain and potentially snow are expected in some places, particularly around East Anglia and Lincolnshire today, and into Scotland towards the beginning of next week.

In a post on X, the forecaster said: “Rain is likely to turn to snow at times across parts of East Anglia this evening.

“Take extra care if you are planning to travel.”

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a cold weather alert covering parts of the northeast of England, Yorkshire and The Humber.

Temperatures dropped to -6.6°C in Altnaharra in the Highland region of northern Scotland last night.

But they could rise to 13°C or 14°C by the middle of the week with sunshine in a number of areas on Monday.

The predicted temperatures are well above February’s average with 6°C the usual monthly average in Scotland and 9°C in southern England.

Met Office meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey said it will be a “noticeable shift” after the last fortnight which was below average.

He added it is not likely to be record-breaking as February’s highest temperature was 21.2°C recorded in 2019 in Kew Gardens.

And more western areas are likely to see some rain during the week while eastern areas are forecast to stay drier.

Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said he did not expect any national records to be broken but some areas could go 10 days without any sunshine which is “near record-breaking”.

Mr Morgan said: “We’ve basically got this battleground taking place over this weekend between cold air across Scandinavia and Central Europe, which is affecting eastern parts of the UK, but towards the west is a little bit milder.

“The Atlantic is trying to shift that cold air out of the way, pushing from west to east across the UK, but it’s a very slow process and it will take until the middle of the coming week for conditions to turn much milder nationwide.”

He explained the gloom “dominating” the UK over the last two weeks has been caused by a “large anticyclone”, or high-pressure system, which has been sitting over Scandinavia bringing cold wind from the east.

“Those cold conditions have picked up a lot of moisture across the Baltic and North seas, and those moist conditions have led to a lot of clouds,” he added.

“That’s why we haven’t seen much in the way of sunshine in most of the UK recently.”

UK 5 day weather forecast

Today:

A cloudy day for many, though some sunny spells in the northwest as well as the southwest initially.

Outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and showers affecting eastern Scotland, wintry over hills. Breezy and rather cold for most.

Tonight:

Remaining largely cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading from Northern Ireland into Scotland and northern England, falling as snow for a time.

Staying drier further south. Patches of frost developing.

Monday:

Rain in the north easing, but further outbreaks reaching Northern Ireland around dusk. Cloud breaking in the south to allow some sunshine.

Windy in the west and north. Rather cold.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Further rain pushing into northern and western regions with some hill snow and possible icy stretches.

Drier further south and east with some brighter spells. Often breezy. Slowly turning milder.

‘There is no easy game as every team is getting closer to each other’, says Tottenham’s Luana Buhler

LUANA BUHLER has no qualms about overcoming big obstacles in football – having battled back from two serious knee injuries in her teens.

Today the versatile Switzerland defender, 28, wants Tottenham to pull off the big challenge of dispatching Arsenal in their WSL derby duel.

Buhler and her team-mates hope to return to winning ways following a narrow 1-0 loss to Man United last time out[/caption]

It was at the age of 15 playing with Swiss boys team FC Schotz, and then at 19 in for women’s side FC Zurich, that Buhler suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures.

For Buhler, who began her senior playing career at FC Zürich in 2016, having the support of family and friends and the determination to come back stronger to fulfil her football dream was key.

The 54-capped Switzerland, who spent five years at German side Hoffenheim before her 2023 Tottenham move said: “The first injury was (sustained whilst playing) with a boys’ team.

“It was at an age where you grow a lot as a girl but maybe don’t have the support yet that was needed back then.

“At that time, the support with athletic coaches, even strength training, wasn’t even a topic yet, so I think that was something that was also caused a little bit by the circumstances.

“With my second one (ACL injury) I was quite lucky with the medical staff and everything around being developed much better.

“I was in a women’s environment already (at FC Zurich) and there I had more professional help during my rehab

“That also helped me to come back in a better state and quite strong.

“When you have an injury that big, all you just want to do is come back and play again.

“I was quite young when those injuries came.

“It was probably one of the toughest times during my career. It challenged me emotionally and physically.

“But these were also the times where I would learn the most about being patient and showing resilience.”

Resilience is something that Buhler and her Tottenham team-mates have had to rely on at times this season since losing their last derby clash with Arsenal

Following that 3-0 home loss last November her side, who are sixth in the WSL, have won five and drawn one of their last nine games across all competitions.

Buhler sees this term as one of ups and downs for Robert Vilhamn’s aces who are yet to beat the Gunners away in the top tier.

But the defender is confident Tottenham can give Arsenal a run for their money at the Emirates this afternoon, having beaten them for the first time in a top-flight duel in December 2023.

She adds: “We could see when we won our first (WSL) game against Arsenal, that the gap is, in my opinion, closing (in these games).

“There’s no easy game anymore because every team is getting closer to each other.

“We want to challenge them as much as we can.”

Today’s 12:30pm clash could see Buhler, who was born in Lucerne, central Switzerland, battle her national team-mate Lia Walti.

Like Buhler, the tenacious midfielder played in Germany’s top-flight for Turbine Potsdam before making a move to the WSL and joining Arsenal in 2018.

Since then Walti has won three trophies with the Gunners, who are third in the league including a WSL title back in 2019.

Buhler said: “Lia is a really great player and also a leader for us in the national team.

“As a team we are really lucky to have her. On the other hand she’s a tough player to play against.

“There are so many good individual players at Arsenal who will challenge us as a team.

“I’m really looking forward to it because it’s the greatest thing to go against the best players in Europe.”

Prior to joining Tottenham Buhler, who is studying for a masters degree in business, has experienced playing in the Champions League with her former clubs FC Zurich and Hoffenheim.

And long with Walti the Tottenham ace is looking forward to making history with her national team, when Switzerland hosts the Women’s Euros for the first time this year.

Her side, currently ranked as the 23rd best side in the world, will take on Norway in their group stage opener on July 2 in Basel.

And Buhler hopes the tournament will lead to greater support for girls’ grassroots teams in her country and improving the infrastructure of the women’s game there.

The Switzerland international said: “We’re still a little bit behind in the whole development of infrastructure and grassroots teams.

“I hope this can give a real boost to women’s football and sports in general for girls and women in Switzerland.

“There are not enough opportunities for girls in comparison to the boys. “There is, on basic levels, infrastructure missing and even teams are missing.

Tottenham hope to produce a repeat of the performance that led to their 1-0 defeat of Arsenal in the top tier in December 2023[/caption]

“I know from girls in my hometown that they still struggle to find a (football) team with whom they can participate.

“That’s one of the first things we need to change, to have those infrastructures for all the boys and girls at the same level.

“I would like to see more visibility of women’s football in general.”

On Saturday, Casey was taking a break at the front of the villa where the cast usually go to smoke vapes when he began to feel dizzy.

A source said: “All of a sudden Casey felt wobbly and then passed out.

“He bashed his head on the way down and everyone rushed to attend him.

“He came round quite quickly and was checked over by the medics but then had to wear a plaster and bandage on his head.

“It meant he was pulled from filming for hours.

“Everything is manic at the moment getting the content needed working up to Monday’s final so losing such a key cast member as Casey wasn’t ideal to say the least.”

Casey is coupled up with Gabby Allen and the duo are considered likely to make the final on Monday night at 9pm on ITV2.

A show source said : “Casey is absolutely fine. He was quickly checked over by the team’s dedicated on site medic.”

Meanwhile tonight viewers will learn which of three vulnerable couples left the villa on Friday after a vote put their place in the villa in jeopardy.

After voting for their favourite pair, fans left Elma Pazar and Sammy RootCatherine Agbaje and Omar Nyame and Harriett Blackmore and Ronnie Vint vulnerable.

However, they were told the surviving couples wouldn’t be in charge of who to send home.

Instead, the dumped islanders will return to cast their vote.

The villa was left reeling as the three couples realised their fate is totally out of their hands.

Harriett yelled: “Well that’s us gone then.”

One viewer said: “I swear to god the dumped islanders most take Elma & Sammy with them!”

Another added: “These dumped islanders better do the right thing and save Catherine and Omar.

“Could give AF about who leaves but it absolutely cannot be Catherine and Omar?”

Love Island All Stars 2025 official line-up

Love Island All Stars is back on TV for season 2.

Here we take you through the line-up of all the Islanders who are in the villa so far.

Bombshells

Each series brings with it a string of hot single bombshells making their epic entrance into the villa.

Here’s who has joined the villa so far:

Death in Paradise fans convinced long-running show has ‘run its course’ after major character’s exit is hinted at

STUNNED Death in Paradise viewers were left reeling after the latest episode as a fan favourite looks set to leave the show.

The surprise departure has left some questioning whether the Caribbean crime series, which is now in its 14th series, has much gas left in the tank.

The news floored his colleagues[/caption]

Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) has been a fixture of the Saint Marie crime-fighting team from the very first episode.

On Friday, he learned he was to be “phased out” due to budget cuts, with even his idyllic corner of the world not safe from economic strife.

He told his colleagues at the beach bar: “I’m afraid they can, and they are.”

DI Mervin Wilson later said: “I’ve never met a guy like him.”

Viewers aren’t happy, with one writing on X: “They can’t just get rid of Selwyn as the commissioner in death in paradise what will he do?”

Another said: “I like the new guy, Mervin, on Death in Paradise. Hoping they won’t get rid of the commissioner. I adore Selwyn Patterson.”

A third posted: “If they remove the Excellent role of #CommissionerSelwyn, #DeathInParadise will no longer be a show worth watching. It will be Trash.

Of course, if any show can handle a big name exit, it’s Death in Paradise.

It has reinvented itself multiple times over the years, successfully switching its leading man time and time again.

It began with Ben Miller as Detective Inspector Richard Poole in series one and two, then Kris Marshall took over as Humphrey Goodman; he was followed by Ardal O’Hanlon as Jack Mooney, Ralf Little had a four-series run as Neville Parker, before Don Gilet was handed the baton as Mervin Wilson.

And Mervin’s tenure kicked off with a big surprise as one of his colleagues, new officer Benjamin Brice, died just minutes into the episode.

The episode opened with a monologue from Benjamin, as he reflected on his childhood struggles and his journey toward finding purpose in life.

He recalled feeling out of place in his own family.

His mother wanted him to focus on chores, while his father, a car thief, attempted to involve him in criminal activities.

Benjamin found solace in his studies and ultimately discovered his true calling at the Saint Marie police academy.

Speaking directly to the camera in a heartfelt social media post, he said: “When I completed training, I’d never felt so proud of myself. In the morning, I’ve got my first shift with the team here on Saint Marie – and I can’t wait.

“The reason I’m telling you all of this, making this post which is something I never do, is because I want you to know that if you’re feeling lost, you don’t need to go through what I did.

“You just need to find your purpose in life, like me. Once you do, nobody can take that away from you.”

But the next morning, Sergeant Naomi Thomas was puzzled by Benjamin’s absence.

Her concern quickly escalated when the station received a distressing phone call from a woman who discovered a body dressed in a police uniform.

In a devastating twist, Benjamin was found face down in the dirt where his body was discarded in a roadside ditch, still carrying his backpack for his first day on the job.

The brutal and unexpected nature of Benjamin’s death left viewers reeling.

Netflix has been forced to change the location of its glamourous post-Bafta party after a fire ripped through the original venue.

It will no longer be held at celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse after a blaze on Valentine’s Day resulted in the evacuation of around 100 people.

Instead, Netflix has moved its afterparty to luxury hotel The Twenty Two in Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square.

The London Fire Brigade said that 20 fire engines and about 125 firefighters were involved in tackling the fire on Chiltern Street in Marylebone on Friday.

A firefighter at the scene told the PA news agency the five-star hotel and restaurant will likely need a ‘large refurbishment.’

This afternoon, A-listers including the likes of Demi Moore and Cynthia Erivo will grace the Bafta red carpet.

Demi, 62, is nominated in the leading actress category and has already picked up gongs at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes for her role in body horror film The Substance.

Cynthia, 38, who played Elphaba in movie musical Wicked, is also a nominee in the leading actress category.

She will be joined by her co-star Ariana Grande, who has received a supporting actress nod for her role playing Glinda in the reimagining of L Frank Baum’s stories.

Cynthia and Demi will go head-to-head with Mikey Madison, who plays a sex worker in Anora, Karla Sofia Gascon for Spanish language musical Emilia Perez, and Saoirse Ronan for The Outrun – a film exploring mental health and addiction.

Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez, stars of Emilia Perez and Bafta nominees, are to present prizes at the awards, with actress Gascon unconfirmed among those attending, amid criticism over a number of tweets.

The 52-year-old has stepped back from promoting the film after the X posts, made between 2019 and 2024, about Islam, the death of George Floyd and diversity at the Oscars resurfaced following the musical’s release.

The main event will be presented by Doctor Who and Rivals villain David Tennant for the second year running.

However, he previously told Metro he was worried about ‘breaking’ the whole thing.

‘I definitely have the advantage of this not being my day job,’ David elaborated further.

‘It’s a lovely thing to be asked to do. It’s a huge privilege and it’s very giddy-making.

‘But I’ve sort of got a bit of a free pass because nobody expects me to be any good at it.’

Other attendees at this year’s ceremony include leading actor nominees Ralph Fiennes, Sebastian Stan, Hugh Grant, Adrien Brody, Colman Domingo and Timothee Chalamet – as well as Kate Winslet, who stars in Bafta-nominated film Lee, and Jesse Eisenberg, whose film A Real Pain is nominated.

British pop group Take That will perform their chart-topping hit Greatest Day, which features in the film Anora, and Wicked star Jeff Goldblum is set to play the piano during the In Memoriam segment.
