Iconic PlayStation game ‘worth £1,975’ if you’ve still got it as list reveals old titles that could fetch over a grand

ONE of the most iconic video games of the nineties is worth nearly £2,000 if you’ve got a pristine copy.

The hit title is featured on a list of classic PlayStation games that are now worth over a grand.

If you ever owned a PlayStation 1, you’ll want to check your cupboards and drawers right now.

The console landed in the UK in September 1995, with millions of units sold globally.

One of the most beloved games on the console was Resident Evil, which came out in 1996.

And video game collectibles tracker PriceCharting reports that a sealed copy of the game is worth a dizzying £1,976.43.

Shockingly, if you have the pristine copy professionally graded, that value rises to £6,189.98.

PriceCharting tracks the prices of old games and consoles based on sales across the web – giving estimations of how much they’re worth.

Prices often rise over time as copies of classic games become rarer.

The good news is that you can still get a decent bit of cash even if you don’t have a perfect copy of Resident Evil.

If you’ve got a complete-in-box copy of the game with all the parts, it could fetch £72.65 even unsealed.

And the loose disc itself is worth £24.02, according to the price-tracker.

If you’ve got the empty box on its own, that’s valued at £18.30.

And the manual, impressively, would potentially fetch £25.40 at auction.

The bad news is that these price estimates are just that: estimates.

They may well be based on actual game sales, but it doesn’t mean your own copy will fetch those sums.

There’s a chance that you could end up with less cash if you try to flog your copy.

On the other hand, you might end up beating these estimates – especially if you hang onto your rare games for a bit longer.

Resident Evil is one of the best-loved games from the late nineties.

Released by Capcom in 1996, the survival horror game saw players controlling Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, members of an elite police force trying to escape a zombie-infested mansion.

Manchester United include Chido Obi and four other academy players in squad vs Tottenham

Manchester United have included Chido Obi along with four other academy players in their travelling squad for the Premier League match against Tottenham on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been hit by multiple midfield injuries ahead of their trip to north London with Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer all unavailable.

Diallo, who has been one of United’s standout performers since Amorim was appointed as manager at the beginning of November, could now miss the remainder of the season after injuring his ankle ligaments.

Last week, Lisandro Martinez has also been ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a cruciate ligament injury and the Argentine defender has undergone surgery this week.

Amorim has been left short of options for his side’s trip to Spurs and according to The Academy Scoop, Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Jack Moorhouse, Harry Amass and Elyh Harrison have all travelled with United’s first-team squad this weekend.

Chido Obi, the highly rated 17-year-old striker who joined from Arsenal in October, has hit the ground running at United, scoring 12 goals in 12 appearances at youth level.

When asked about Chido Obi in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Amorim replied: ‘I don’t want to say names.

‘We have to be careful on that. We have problems this week, we called some young players to be in our training. We have some data evaluation. He is one of them.’

Kone, a 19-year-old defensive midfielder who was signed from Malian side Guidars FC last August, has also impressed for United’s academy sides and is yet to make a first-team appearance.

Moorhouse, a 19-year-old central midfielder, is another who has been a pivotal figure at youth level for United but has not yet been called to the first team.

Amass, meanwhile, has been on the bench on five occasions for United this season but the left-back is still waiting for his first-team debut.

Harrison was on the bench for United’s 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace earlier this month but the 18-year-old goalkeeper is also waiting for his first senior appearance.

Ahead of their visit to Spurs, United sit 13th in the Premier League, two points ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri says he was subject of ‘disgusting’ racist abuse during Preston match

Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri says he was the subject of alleged racist abuse during the side’s Championship clash with Preston.

The Deepdale contest ended goalless after 90 minutes but a heated clash at the start of the second half, involving Mejbri and Preston’s Milutin Osmajic, has threatened to overshadow the match.

Footage of the coming together appeared to show Mejbri upset by something the Montenegro international had said to him during the exchange.

Mejbri then proceeded to speak at length with Burnley head coach Scott Parker on the touchline, with the latter revealing that the 22-year-old had been left ‘distressed’.

Burnley have since confirmed that the alleged remark made by Osmajic had been reported to officials before and after the final whistle.

In an official statement, the Clarets said they were thankful for the ‘professional handling’ of the incident, while stating that no further comment would be made while the matter was being investigated.

A club statement read: ‘Burnley Football Club is aware of an alleged comment made to Hannibal by Milutin Osmajic during our game against Preston North End which was reported to officials both during and after the game.

‘During the second-half Hannibal made referee Andrew Kitchen aware of the comment who has registered the complaint.

‘The club would like to thank the officials for their professional handling of the incident.

‘The club will continue to show its complete support to Hannibal and there will be no further comment made until the investigation has been completed.’

Shortly after the final whistle, Mejbri took to social media to ‘call out racism’ in all forms, underlining that no player should have to face instances of ‘disgusting’ abuse.

‘I will not be silent about what happened today,’ the young Tunisia international, formerly of Manchester United, wrote on his Instagram page.

‘I will always call out racism whenever I hear or see it.

‘That is the only way we change as a sport and a society.

‘I am a strong person but nobody should have to experience this disgusting abuse on the pitch.’

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Burnley boss Parker praised the officials for their ‘brilliant’ handling of the incident.

‘It was just something that was said to Hannibal, something inappropriate which he’s reported,’ the ex-England and West Ham midfielder said.

‘We could clearly see he was very distressed in that moment and we tried to firstly get some context of what exactly has happened, because he was obviously very emotional. We tried to get some context on exactly what happened.

‘He explained to me what was said and at that moment, it was a case of just finding how he is and where he was in his headspace and what he wanted us to do.

‘It will go down to process now, so we’ll see. But I thought the officials were brilliant in terms of how they dealt with it. I thought they were spot on. I thought the way they handled it and dealt with the whole situation was first-class to them.’
