‘Body said enough is enough’ – Akanji’s season all-but over as Man City star suffers injury while playing ‘in emergency’

MANUEL AKANJI will have surgery on a groin injury on Saturday and faces a fight to return before the end of the season.

Manchester City’s Swiss defender limped out of the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday and has been assessed this week.

The Swiss defender will go under the knife this weekend[/caption]

And medics have decided he will go under the knife – which could see him sidelined for up to 10 weeks.

That means he will miss a large chunk of the games remaining and may not be back until early May.

Boss Pep Guardiola has had to deal with injuries to most of his defenders this season and believes the extra workload has caught up with Akanji.

He said: “He’ll have surgery on his adductor on Saturday and it will be eight to 10 weeks.

“We wish the best recovery for Manu because of the effort he has done for us this season.

“It’s been unbelievable.

“Him and Nathan Ake have played in difficult conditions to help the team in an emergency due to lack of players in those positions.

“In the end, the body said enough is enough.”

Guardiola said the news was better on England midfielder Jack Grealish – who was also subbed in the defeat to Madrid.

He is unlikely to face Newcastle on Saturday but is not expecting another long absence for his £100 million signing.

He said: “With Jack, it’s not as bad as Manu has done but I don’t think he will be ready for Saturday.

“We will assess it in the next hours.”

Wild new reality show coming to Channel 4 makes Love Island look PG with on-screen romps

CHANNEL 4 is set to launch its most outrageous reality show yet this year – and it makes Love Island look PG.

The groundbreaking series teaches virgin Brits how to have sex.

Love Island’s raunchy sex scenes are a thing of the past now after bosses started censoring them off the show

Titled Virgin Island, the social experiment will follow a group of young adults as they embark on their “erotic awakening”.

The Sun previously revealed Virgin Island had been green lit and had signed professional sex surrogates to help the group pop their cherries.

Now we’ve had a sneak peek at a trailer to be released later this year, and it’s safe to say viewers will be hooked.

It introduces a group of young men and women who are mostly in their mid twenties as they discuss why they’ve struggled to reach the important milestone in life – having sex.

The cast are seen arriving at an exotic, secret-island location, and entering a luxury retreat.

But if you’re prudish, you might be forced to look away.

A source said: “Love Island’s raunchy sex scenes are a thing of the past now after bosses started censoring them off the show.

“So this series is going to cause a stir. But it’s all filmed under the watchful eye of intimacy coaches.

“The experts demonstrate how to be totally intimate. Viewers will see people straddling each other, dry-humping, and simulating sex.

“In one scene a couple appear to have sex under the covers with lots of moaning and legs rubbing.”

The source added: “But there’s loads of emotional moments too.

“Viewers will be invested in the group who have so far struggled to make romantic connections, until now.”

The six-part series stars Celeste Hirschman and Danielle Harel, who run the Somatic Institute in San Francisco, which featured on Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Netflix show Sex, Love And Goop.

The renowned sex and relationship coaches oversee the virgins’ welfare and deliver a programme of treatments including lessons in romance and attraction, starting with discussions about intimacy before moving on to touching.

Then three “Sexological bodyworkers” called Aisha, Thomas and Joy step in to do the deed with the participants while “surrogate partners” Kat and Andre will help teach them how to connect.

Producers had faced a hurdle when casting – struggling to find enough virgins willing to sign up.

Now, brave contestants have signed on the dotted line, and Virgin Island is full steam ahead to be released later this year.

Drake rips 5′ 5″ Kendrick Lamar as a ‘small fish’ like ‘Nemo’ on new diss track just days after Super Bowl halftime show

EVERYBODY knew that Drake was never going to let Kendrick Lamar taking swipes at him at the Super Bowl, without having a comeback.

Now the rapper, 38, has ripped into 5′ 5″ Kendrick – calling him a “small fish” like “Nemo” on his new diss track.

Kendrick ripped into his rival during his Super Bowl halftime show[/caption]

On Sunday, Kendrick, 37, laid into Drake in his halftime Super Bowl show.

The U.S. Sun counted FIVE times he dissed his nemesis, which even included bringing his ex-girlfriend Serena Williams onto the stage.

Not one to let Kendrick get away with this, Drake dropped his new album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U and he doesn’t hold back when it comes to his rival.

DRAKE’S NEW DISS TRACK

In his new track Gimme a Hug on the album, he alludes to his feud with Kendrick.

In the opening verse he raps: “Drake elimination, fake intimidation / Take a minute, take a deep breath, have a little bit of patience / ‘Drizzy, you amazing, you the inspiration / You set the bar for the next generation / You Neo in The Matrix, these ****** just Nemo in the ocean / Small fish, making kids feel emotion / Using you for promotion,’ truer words have never been spoken.

“****** want to see ‘RIP me’ on a t-shirt like I’m Hulk Hogan / I appreciate the fans rocking with me, this is really just a small token / Really fucking with a visionary / Only reason I ain’t got a girl and I ain’t getting marriеd / ‘Cause I’m really out herе, filling up the itinerary ’til I’m six feet in a cemetery.

“Bulletproof doors so heavy, got me rolling ’round like a dignitary / Funny how it’s only b***h ****** that are waiting on The Boy’s obituary / ‘Cause if I die, it’s these ****** that become the sole beneficiary / And what the fuck are they gon’ do with it? / Have the girls up at 29 on stage twerking with a dictionary?”

The lyrics see Drake poke fun at Kendrick’s height and are also aimed at his reputation for wordy rhymes.

THE FALL OUT

Although some fans believe Drake and Kendrick were secretly feuding for years, their beef escalated with the latter’s featured verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s song Like That.

On the above mentioned track, Kendrick referenced Drake’s single First Person Shooter and rapped: “Yeah, get up with me, f**k sneak dissing…

“…First Person Shooter, I hope they came with three switches.

“Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD…Motherf**k the Big three…n***a, it’s just big me.”

Kendrick also alluded to Drake’s album For All the Dogs and added: “For all your dogs gettin’ buried, that’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.”

Kendrick’s verse responded to Drake and J. Cole’s previous namedrop in their joint single First Person Shooter, which the latter rapped: “Love when they argue the hardest emcee…

Kendrick didn’t hold back during his halftime show[/caption]

“…Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? We the big three like we started a league. But right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.”

On March 25, 2024, Drake referenced his and Kendrick’s fallout during his concert in Sunrise, Florida.

During his performance, the Certified Lover Boy rapper told the crowd: “A lot of people ask me how I’m feeling.

“I’ma let you know how I’m feeling. I got my f**king head up high, my back straight…

“…I’m 10 f–king toes down in Florida and anywhere else I go.

“And I know that no matter what, it’s not a n***a on this Earth that could ever f**k with me in my life!”

Fuel was added to the fire when Kendrick released Not Like Us, which accuses Drake of being a pedophile – something which the rapper strongly denies.

DRAKE & KENDRICK FEUD TIMELINE

On October 6, 2023, Drake and J. Cole released First Person Shooter, in which J. Cole claimed that himself, Drake, and Kendrick are the “big three” of hip-hop.

On March 22, 2024, Kendrick responded to the claim of a “big three” in his verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s song Like That, where he instead stated, “It’s just big me,” and accused both rappers of sneak dissing.

On April 5, 2024, J. Cole dropped his Kendrick diss track, 7 Minute Drill, in which he fired “warning shots” at the rapper as he accused the good kid, m.A.A.d city artist of seeking “attention” and slammed his latest music releases as “tragic.”

But on April 7, 2024, two days after releasing the Kendrick diss, J. Cole retracted his statement and backed out of the feud, as he stated he felt pressured to respond because “the world wanna see blood.”

On April 13, 2024, Drake responded to Kendrick with Push Ups, which had lyrics ridiculing Kendrick’s height and his mainstream collaborations with Taylor Swift and Maroon 5.

The track also dissed rappers Future and Rick Ross and producer Metro Boomin.

On April 19, 2024, Drake dropped another diss track, Taylor Made Freestyle, that used AI-generated voices of Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur to pressure Kendrick to respond.

On April 30, 2024, Kendrick dropped Euphoria, a six-minute diss track, in which he criticized Drake’s biracial identity, questioned the rapper’s ability as a father, and claimed that Drake is a “scam artist.”

On May 1, 2024, Drake responded to Kendrick’s diss by posting a clip from the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You on his Instagram Story in which Julia Stiles’ character Kat lists the reasons she hates Heath Ledger’s character Patrick – mirroring a Euphoria bar where Lamar provides reasons he hates Drake.

On May 3, 2024, Kendrick dropped a second Drake diss track, 6:16 in LA in which Kendrick alleges Drake’s own team is working against him as he rapped, “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it,” and stated Drake “can’t Toosie Slide up out of this one.”

After Drake responded with his diss track Family Matters, where he called accused Kendrick of infidelity, the Humble hitmaker would release Meet the Grahams, his fourth diss track against the Canadian rapper.

Who was Mary McLaughlin and how long will Graham McGill serve for killing her?

A BBC TWO series is set to explore the murder of mum-of-eleven Mary McLaughlin, 30 years after she was killed.

Mary’s body was tragically discovered in 1984, however, it wasn’t until 2014 that police were finally able to make a breakthrough in the case.

The body of Mary McLaughlin was discovered by her son[/caption]

Tragic discovery

On October 2, 1984, the body of Mary McLaughlin, 58, was found in her flat in the west end of Glasgow.

She was discovered by her son, Martin Cullen, and was found lying on a bare mattress with her dress on back-to-front.

On September 27, 1984, the night of her death, Mary had been out with friends at a local pub.

After 10 pm, she left to head back to her flat, which was located less than a mile away.

After leaving the pub, Mary stopped off to buy some food and cigarettes from a chip shop on Dumbarton Road.

Brutal attack

Mary was last seen alive on September 26, after leaving the Hyndland Pub.

During the investigation, a witness told police that they saw an unknown man following her.

Upon finding her body five days later, it was confirmed that Mary had been strangled to death with a dressing gown cord.

Police also confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry.

Despite collecting more than 1,000 statements, the case went cold until 2014, when a new DNA profiling facility allowed for more in-depth testing.

Originally, only 11 DNA marks had been identified, but thanks to more in-depth testing, scientists could now identify 24 markers and were able to test samples that had been kept from the initial investigation, including hair and nails.

Scientists also tested a cigarette butt that had caught the attention of investigating officers.

It was discovered in an ashtray in Mary’s flat, but it wasn’t the brand she usually preferred.

After the cigarette butt was sent off for testing, scientists were able to establish a ‘’direct match’’, which led officers to Graham McGill – a serial sex offender who had been in a prison in Edinburgh at the time.

Undated handout photo issued by Police Scotland of Graham McGill has been jailed for life at the High Court in Aberdeen of murdering Mary McLaughlin in her home more than 36 years ago after being snared by a "one-in-a-billion" DNA breakthrough. Issue date: Tuesday May 18, 2021. PA Photo. See PA story COURTS McGill. Photo credit should read: Police Scotland/PA Wire NOTE TO EDITORS: This handout photo may only be used in for editorial reporting purposes for the contemporaneous illustration of events, things or the people in the image or facts mentioned in the caption. Reuse of the picture may require further permission from the copyright holder.
Graham McGill was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years

Despite finding McGill’s DNA on both the cigarette butt and Mary’s dressing gown cord, Former Det Sgt Kenny McCubbin explained: “He’s got the perfect alibi. How could he commit the murder if he was in prison?”

After searching through various documents and records, police discovered that McGill had been TTF, Training for Freedom, at the time of Mary’s murder – this meant he was allowed to go home on the weekends.

At the time of Mary’s murder, McGill was 22-years-old.

Conviction

In April 2021, McGill was found guilty of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 14 years behind bars.

It will then be for the parole board to assess the risk he poses and decide whether or not he should be released.

During the sentencing, Lord Burns made the following statement: ‘’36 years after the death of Mary McLaughlin, you have been convicted of her murder.

‘’She was 58 when she died and you were 22. You are now 59. Her family has had to wait all that time in order to discover who was responsible for that act knowing that whoever did it was probably at large in the community.

‘’They had never given up the hope that someday they would find out what had happened to her. They have been deprived of her love and companionship.’’

The statement continued: ‘’It is due to the perseverance of police authorities, and in particular the forensic biologists, that your guilt could be demonstrated.

‘’The evidence showed that your chance encounter with Mary McLaughlin that night allowed you to take advantage of a vulnerable and lonely woman who was probably intoxicated.

‘’The attack took place within her own home to which she may have invited you. She was wholly unable to defend herself against any attack from someone like you.’’

Murder Case: The Hunt for Mary McLaughlin’s Killer

BBC Two’s Murder Case: The Hunt for Mary McLaughlin’s Killer will air on Wednesday, February 19 at 9 pm.

In the documentary, viewers will hear from original investigators, as well as Police Scotland detectives and forensic experts who helped to crack the case.

Injuries & suspensions update ahead of Gameweek 24: Latest on Cody Gakpo, Anthony Gordon and others

DREAM TEAM brings you all the latest injury, suspension and availability news for Gameweek 24 in one convenient location.

Anthony Gordon is currently the most transferred-out player ahead of today’s 6:30pm deadline but Eddie Howe told journalists that Newcastle’s No10 “should be fine” to face Manchester City on Saturday.

The England winger skipped the Magpies’ FA Cup fourth round tie with Birmingham with a thigh issue but has since trained alongside his team-mates.

Scan results for Sven Botman and Dan Burn were warmly received by Howe this week with both defenders avoiding long-term injuries but this weekend certainly comes too for the former – the latter has a chance of making the trip.

Arne Slot named Cody Gakpo as a doubt ahead of Liverpool’s home game against Wolves.

The Dutch forward, who features in 21.6% of teams at the time of writing, had to be replaced at Goodison Park on Wednesday night because of a knock.

Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton are sidelined while Curtis Jones is suspended following his full-time sending off against Everton.

Kai Havertz has been ruled out for the remainder of the season having suffered a hamstring tear while in Dubai.

The German forward joins Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus on the injured list.

In more positive news for Arsenal fans, Ben White is available for selection ahead of the Gunners’ trip to Leicester this weekend.

Pep Guardiola confirmed that Manuel Akanji is set to undergo surgery following his half-time withdrawal against Real Madrid in midweek.

The Swiss defender is expected to be sidelined for “eight to ten weeks”.

Jack Grealish was also replaced prematurely against Los Blancos and while his injury is not as severe as Akanji’s, the England international is unlikely to feature against Newcastle this weekend.

New signing Nico Gonzalez is a doubt having been forced off at Leyton Orient on debut.

Elsewhere, Iliman Ndiaye is set for a spell on the sidelines having incurred a knee injury against Liverpool.

David Moyes told reporters: “Iliman has got a medial ligament injury. It’s not looking great at the moment.”

Like Jones, Abdoulaye Doucoure is suspended having been shown a red card amid the full-time chaos on Wednesday night.

Nicolas Jackson won’t return for Chelsea until April because of a hamstring injury.

On Thursday, Enzo Maresca explained: “We knew it was a muscular problem but not how important it was. Unfortunately, he had the scan and it is an important one. He will be out for six to eight weeks.”

Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez resumed training this week and should be available for West Ham – Jean-Clair Todibo should also make the matchday squad.

A setback for Crysencio Summerville means the ex-Leeds winger will be out for several more weeks.

Tottenham may be boosted by the returns of James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario to the matchday squad ahead of Manchester United’s visit to North London on Sunday, although the former is still considered a doubt.

As for the Red Devils, Ruben Amorim hinted at some fresh concerns but offered no names.

Unai Emery declared Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings available to face Ipswich but Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Matty Cash remain sidelined.

Forget the hairdryer – Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson’s ferocious reputation masks a heart of gold, say his ex-players

SIR Alex Ferguson ruled Manchester United with an iron first, or at least that’s the myth.

Fergie, now 83, is widely regarded as the most successful manager of all-time.

But behind the scenes, Fergie was also kind-hearted claim many of his players[/caption]

During his Red Devils reign he won 13 Premier League titles, and lifted the Champions League twice.

Often, it was perceived he struck fear into his teams to perform to the best of their abilities.

Roy Keane and David Beckham have admitted to slanging matches with their old boss that resulted in the former leaving Old Trafford and the latter having a loose boot kicked in his face.

But, plenty of others have also spoken about how kind-hearted the gaffer was.

From former players to even a rival manager, SunSport debunks the hairdryer myth.

‘Nothing but positives’

The great man said it himself.

When he was asked if his players were scared of him and his fiery temper, he replied: “I hope not.”

“There’s a lot of myth attached to that. In training there’s nothing but praise for every player. Nothing but positives.”

Sir Alex added: “The hairdryer is part of the myth and the circus. It’s completely exaggerated, like throwing the tea cups.

“But I’m a confrontational character. I don’t like people arguing back to me. I think that’s where the hairdryer treatment came from.”

‘He was a football father for me’

Sir Alex’s relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo has been well-documented.

It can’t be argued that the Scot was the making of the Portuguese superstar.

And it was Ronaldo who revealed his former manager had an extremely compassionate side.

Speaking on the BBC documentary, Sir Alex Ferguson: Secrets of Success, Ronaldo revealed how Fergie showed great understanding before his father’s death in 2005.

“When my dad was sick in London and was in hospital — very bad, in a coma — I had a conversation with [Ferguson],” Ronaldo said. “I said, ‘Boss, I don’t feel good.’

“We are in a key moment in the league and the Champions League, but I say, ‘Boss, I don’t feel good. I want to see my dad.’

“[He said] ‘Cristiano, you want to go one day, two days, one week, you can go. I’m going to miss you here because you know you are important, but your dad [comes] first.’

“When he told me that, I thought, ‘This guy’s unbelievable.'”

Ronaldo also revealed Ferguson’s success on the pitch was aided by the family atmosphere he created at United.

“He invites everyone to come for lunch, come for tea… an English cup of tea!” Ronaldo added.

“It was a family with him. He was a football father for me.”

Ronaldo repeated that sentiment again – reiterating he got to the top thanks to his former coach.

“Sir Alex is like a father in football for me,” he said.

“He was the main key for me to be in the position that I am, he’s an unbelievable person.”

‘He treats me like Ronaldo’

Giuseppe Rossi didn’t quite have the career at Old Trafford many of expected of him.

But that hasn’t stopped Fergie from reportedly helping the former Italy international out for the striker’s farewell match.

Rossi has organised a ceremonial one-off game in Florence on March 22, where Sir Alex could return to the dugout.

Rossi revealed even though he didn’t have a stellar career at Old Trafford, his old boss treats him like Ronaldo[/caption]

Rossi revealed that Ferguson showed his eternal class by immediately agreeing to help out.

The 38-year-old said: “I did little at United but he treats me like Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 1,000 goals.

Ferguson will be there (at his farewell match) as a coach. He was my first coach, I signed when I was 17.

“I only did three years with him and played little, but he immediately said yes and this shows what kind of person he is.”

Helping out his rivals

It’s almost unthinkable to think of Mikel Arteta picking up the phone to check on Pep Guardiola’s well-being after Man City’s recent woes.

But, Sir Alex was a different breed, according to former rival David Moyes.

“Sir Alex was great at phoning managers when things weren’t good and wanting to help,” Moyes once revealed.

“He was competitive but also someone who thought about others.”

Of course, Moyes would be Fergie’s successor at Old Trafford, upon the legend’s recommendation.

Fergie turned a blind eye to fun

Astonishingly, Nani – who played under Fergie from 2007-2013 – revealed that his former manager would, on occasion, turn a blind eye to players turning up drunk at training.

“If I had the next day off, for example, then I could have some fun…on special days like Christmas or New Year – no one in England cares about that,” the ex-winger told Tribuna Expresso.

“On New Year, we could even go to training drunk and the coach didn’t care about it. That’s the side of [Sir Alex] that knew how to deal with the players and had the perception to say: this day is special, I can’t make demands.

“We had been playing non-stop all year long. It was a joy, a moment of relaxation, a different kind of training – clowning around. I won’t lie, I liked nights out.”

The Portuguese added, “It was amazing. He knows how to deal with the player, whether they are older or younger. He knows how to manage their professional career and the human being.

“With him I can say that I gained a unique experience and maturity because they were very important phases of my life. I needed to grow up really fast, to learn and deal with that culture and the club culture.”

Baffled Google Maps users spot UFO-like object and believe aliens may have crashed on Earth

A MYSTERIOUS structure in a mountainous region of New Mexico has caught the attention of hawk-eyed Google Maps users.

At the coordinates 34°24’21.6″N 107°05’44.5″W, users have spotted a large, white disk poking out the ground.

Speculated UFO crash site in New Mexico.

Images dating back to 1975 show a an empty site where the disk now lays, and a path leading to it from a clear[/caption]

The object is in a remote location in the Sierra Ladrones, with no clear roads or homes nearby, and at an elevation of about 7,400 feet.

According to historical Google Maps images, the large disk first appeared in 2003.

Snaps taken in 2013 show the disk has not yet been overgrown by vegetation, but has suffered some damage.

Though an image from 2017 shows that part of the disk has been hidden by plant overgrowth.

Google Maps users have speculated the disk may be a crash-landed UFO – or even a hatch entrance to a subterranean hangar.

Others suggested it could be an observatory, or an old water reservoir.

YouTuber MrMBB333 shared a video in August while investigating the site on Google Maps.

“This is a very remote location, nothing going on up here,” he said in the clip, suggesting the object “crash landed” in the area.

“This looks very much like a disc that is stuck in the top of this mountain.”

He claimed he was able to measure the disk from the images, making it around 30 feet wide.

Internet sleuths can be quick to point to aliens when confronted with mysterious sightings in rural areas.

Area 51, a highly classified airbase in the Nevada desert, has been at the centre of numerous theories about aliens landing on Earth for decades.

However, a user of Metabunk, Mick West’s website aimed at investigating ‘unusual claims’, said the object had been identified as a rainwater catchment.

Images dating back to 1975 show an empty site where the disk now lies, and a path leading to it from a clearing.

“From a quick search there appears to have been a structure built on that exact spot from at least the 1975 so it seems unlikely anything coincidentally ‘crashed’ there,” the MetaBunk user said.
