‘Now everyone’s calling me it…’ – Declan Rice reveals hilarious new nickname he has among Arsenal team-mates
DECLAN RICE is known as the Horse to his Arsenal team-mates — and he is still hoping to gallop to a famous title success.
The £105million star revealed his new nickname as Mikel Arteta’s side prepare for the home straight in this Premier League campaign.

Arsenal, sweating on the fitness of forward Kai Havertz following a hamstring scare during their Dubai winter training trip, visit Leicester on Saturday.
Rice and Co are six points off leaders Liverpool and will be keeping an eye on the Merseyside derby at Everton tonight — the Reds’ game in hand.
Arne Slot’s Kop side also face tough matches at Aston Villa and Manchester City this month and Rice feels his fitness and form are ramping up at just the right time.
On his new nickname, he said: “It’s positive. Oleksandr Zinchenko started it then Jorginho went with it — now everyone’s calling me it.
“I think it’s because they think I can run all day, that I’m athletic, my ability to go again, my sustainability and availability to the team.
“Even two days since the last game, I’m running around and they’re thinking I’m a mad man. I don’t mind the nickname but I just have to keep it going.”
Only Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has played more minutes than Rice, 26, since August 2022.
A toe injury in November kept him out of the only Arsenal game he missed in that two-year period.

He has not had the greatest of campaigns but the midfielder feels good about ending the season on a high.
Rice, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “It probably was a slower start for me, coming off the back of the Euros. Because I’ve been so consistent over the last few years. But I’m hitting form and full fitness at the right time.
“I knew I had to up my game, up my level. Over the last few months, I’ve been watching lots of clips, sitting down with analysts and seeing where I can improve. There’s been a gradual, good increase so I need to keep going.”
Rice also revealed that only since he left West Ham and joined Arsenal in 2023 has he been more focused on his nutrition.
He said: “I never really took to that side of the game until the nutritionist at Arsenal sat me down, went through it properly and showed me how your body works.
“And what you have to be eating and drinking constantly to be at the top of your game.
Chasing Liverpool
“That’s a really important part and with the number of games we’re playing, it’s probably the most important part. Once we’ve played, it’s how we go again in a few days’ time.
“It’s really tough. Every player has a different routine and lives differently. The staff at the club keep us going. You’re away from home a lot — there’s hotels, travel and a lot of away games.
“There’s a lot in the mind but when you’re competing for stuff at the top end of the game, it’s about how much you want it.
“That’s why I keep myself going and I know it’s the same for my team-mates as this year we want to achieve some really good things.”
As for catching Slot’s side, Rice said: “There’s a long way to go. We can only keep believing, working and having full trust we can achieve great things.
“It’s down to us to get that over the line. Big things are coming. We must stay positive and keep going.”

Ronnie O’Sullivan set for new job after pulling out of another big snooker tournament to spark health fears
RONNIE O’SULLIVAN could work as a TV pundit this week in North Wales — after pulling out of a fifth event in three months.
Just three-and-a-half hours before he was due to face Jamie Clarke in the Welsh Open first round yesterday, it was announced that the Rocket, 49, would be withdrawing.

Though the World Snooker Tour declined to explain his absence, it is understood to be for medical reasons — a decision that has angered some fans hoping to see the legend.
O’Sullivan, a four-time Welsh Open champion, has been struggling on and off the table for a while now.
Last month, he snapped his cue in half in one of his few matches of 2025 — at a behind-closed-doors Championship League event in Leicester.
Since losing in the UK Championship first round on November 23, O’Sullivan decided not to play the Shoot Out, Scottish Open, Masters, German Masters and now the Welsh Open in Llandudno.
The world No 3 did appear in Saudi Arabia before Christmas — he made the semi-finals in Riyadh — but otherwise has been off UK TV screens since last autumn.
The next time he plays is likely to be the World Open, which starts on February 23, in Yushan, China.
The seven-time world champ works on snooker events for Discovery+ and could form part of their televised coverage this weekend as players chase the Ray Reardon Trophy.
The same situation happened when he withdrew from the Masters at Ally Pally last month and then went into the studio a few days later.
Discussions are ongoing about a possible appearance but no decision has been made yet.
Clarke, 30, has received a bye into the last 32 and this will boost his position on the world rankings list.
Snooker star Dominic Dale, who retired at the end of the season, said: “I’m a little bit surprised. If Ronnie withdraws from an event, it’s normally a couple of days before an event begins.
“To pull out on the eve of this match, I was a bit surprised, particularly as the world championship is coming round the corner in a couple of months.
“It would have been good practice for Ronnie. He broke his cue a month ago. Maybe he has cue issues as well.”
Clarke, the world No 65, said: “Yeah, I was relishing playing him (O’Sullivan).
“There was 20 per cent a little bit disappointment when I got the phonecall this morning.
“Because he’s coming towards the end of his career. You don’t get many chances to play Ronnie.
“He picks and chooses his events and rightly so. I was probably more happy than not happy, but it would have been nice to play him.”
Inside Ronnie's colourful career

FROM his lightning breaks to blasts at officials, Ronnie O'Sullivan has fired snooker into the spotlight.
The seven-time world champion makes almost as big an impact away from the table as on it.
O’Sullivan has three children – two daughters and a son.
And the Rocket’s on-off relationship with British actress Laila Rouass has also hit the headlines.
He has opened up on battles with his weight and addiction.
While the controversial cueist reckons he wasted NINE YEARS of his career by partying too hard.
Despite being worth £14million, O’Sullivan is renowned for his love of canal boats and snubbing flashy cars.
His rivalry with fellow star Judd Trump has been branded ‘snooker’s greatest feud’.
And Ali Carter had his nose knocked out of joint by the Rocket in their infamous ‘Snotgate’ row.

Jack Fincham shares emotional post following death of beloved dog after legal battle over canine attack
JACK Fincham has shared an emotional tribute to his dog – who has died aged 17.
The Love Island alum posted a slew of selfies with adorable Bax to his Instagram page, as well as a video, following the tragic news.

Former pen-seller Jack, 33, recently opened up on a “testing time” which saw him bailed from jail following his other dog Elvis’ attack on a runner.
The Essex lad was hauled to court after the hulking Cane Corso mauled Robert Sudell and a woman in 2022.
He was jailed for six weeks on January 29 after he admitted being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog.
But he was freed on bail shortly afterwards, while he appeals the sentence.
Yet now Jack – who won Love Island with ex Dani Dyer, 28, in 2018 – has suffered another blow with the death of his tan-coloured pet.
He started his photo memories with a snap showing him at the Good Morning Britain studios, cuddling little Bax as he posed in his red jumper.
Another snap showed them lying on the sofa together as well as posing for a selfie.
Bax was then seen in a snap with Elvis – the pooch at the centre of Jack’s court case – before a video captured him playing outside.
In his emotional caption, Jack wrote: “Rest in peace little Bax, nearly 18 years old we had a good run didn’t we mate, love you and we will all miss you.
“He even managed to get on @gmb @itv.
“That last video was in the summer, his last one x”
One fan was quick to write: “Sorry to hear this.”
Another posted: “Take care Jack please look after yourself,” as a third commented: “Ahhh bless him out of pain now beautiful baby.”
One then added: “So sorry for your loss of Bax what a little legend! Xx”

TOUGH TIMES
Last month, Jack was jailed for six weeks after he admitted being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog.
It is understood he has now been freed on bail while he appeals the sentence.
Courts can grant bail ahead of an appeal in exceptional circumstances.
His on-off girlfriend Chloe Brockett had earlier wept as he was taken down to the cells, while the TV star gave a thumbs up.
Elvis first attacked runner Robert in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022.
He then mauled an unnamed woman in Grays, Essex, in June 2024 but no harm was done.
Presiding magistrate Anne Wade, said that Fincham was subject to a suspended sentence order at the time.
This was after he was caught speeding down the hard shoulder in a BMW while on cocaine.
JPs heard that Jack failed to comply with three rules over the dog’s ownership following the first attack.
These included to always keep the dog on the lead, for the dog to wear a muzzle when outside and to not leave the animal alone with anyone under the age of 16.
The guidelines were set in September 2022 when Elvis bit runner Robert and he took part in a dog ownership course.
But there was another incident in June 2024 when the animal lashed out at a woman – sinking its teeth into her leg.
The court was told Jack would get Elvis back upon his jail release if the three stipulations are met.
He has previously come under fire over his pet dog.
Fans have slammed the star over Elvis’ cropped ears, which is illegal in the UK.
He also owns Sandy, a bulldog he bought while he was dating and living with his ex Dani.
Jack has candidly opened up on a suicide attempt in the aftermath of the legal battle.
He also told The Sun how he blew £1million drugs, booze and bets including £40K in a single day.
