NEPO baby Sam Nivola walked The White Lotus red carpet yesterday after landing a role in the U.S. smash hit – but do you know who he is?
Sam, 21, is the latest rising star to join HBO’s comedy-drama as the hit series heads to Thailand for its highly anticipated third season.

But while his name might not yet be widely known, his Hollywood lineage certainly is.
Sam looked suave in an ovesized brown suit with a flared trouser while posing outside the Paramount Theater in Los Angeles.
Born in Britain but raised in the U.S., Sam spent his early years in Notting Hill, London, before moving to Brooklyn, New York.
There, he attended the prestigious Saint Ann’s School, where fees range from $48,000 to $52,000 per year, before securing a place at Columbia University.
Sam got his first taste of acting in 2013 on HBO’s Doll & Em, playing the role of Ariel.
But his big break wasn’t exactly a coincidence – his mother Emily Mortimer co-wrote the series.
His father Alessandro Nivola has starred in The Brutalist, American Hustle and Disobedience.
But despite his Hollywood connections, he insists his parents “aren’t, like, total celebrities”, insisting: “They don’t get recognised in the street.”
Emily and Alessandro have been together for over 24 years, tying the knot in 2003 after meeting on the set of Love’s Labour’s Lost.
Their children have followed in their footsteps – Sam’s younger sister, May, 14, is also an actress, starring alongside him in White Noise, which opened the Venice Film Festival.
Director Noah Baumbach previously praised the siblings, saying: “We were looking for kids and went through audition after audition, and these two Nivola kids kept on coming up to the surface. They were just so wonderful.”
Sam also starred in The Pursuit of Love, which was directed by his mother, and has worked with A-listers like Bradley Cooper in Maestro and Nicole Kidman in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.
Away from the screen, Sam has been dating fellow nepo baby Iris Apatow, daughter of actress Leslie Mann and director Judd Apatow, for the past two years.
She even joined him at the screening, placing a loving around around her beau while donning a white striped minidress.
Joking about his circle of celebrity offspring, Sam told Vogue: “Some secret cabal of nepo kids who hang out in black robes.”
Despite his connections, Sam admitted he never thought he’d land his role in The White Lotus, saying: “I’ve never felt more certain that I wasn’t gonna get a part.”
But now, with his biggest role yet in the award-winning HBO hit, Sam Nivola is set to step out of his parents’ shadow and make a name for himself.

February 12, 2025New York StateComments Off on I’m considered a criminal because I took my kids away to Thailand for a week during term time – the £320 fine is a joke
A MOTHER has revealed that she is now being considered a criminal because she took her kids on holiday during term time.
Tash, a mother from the UK, explained that she and her husband went with their children to Thailand for two weeks in October – one of which was during the half term and another which was not during the school holidays.
A mum-of-two has been left raging after receiving a fine from the council for taking her kids to Thailand for a week during term timeTikTok/@mother_stress_headTash took to social media to share her frustration – but it’s left many totally dividedTikTok/@mother_stress_head
But after their amazing, once in a lifetime trip, Tash was met with a whopping £320 fine, leaving her fuming.
Raging at the ‘joke’ fine, which sees each parent charged £80 per child for time off outside of term time, Tash took to social media to share her frustration at the letter she received from the council after she took her children out of school for seven days.
Clearly not impressed, Tash said: “£80 per parent, per child, so apparently me and my husband are criminals now because we wanted to give our children a once in a lifetime experience.”
Tash claimed that the fine was for seven days of school absence, but one of her children, Lucy, in fact only missed six days.
Following this, the content creator questioned: “And what did they miss? A few spelling tests, some work sheets about rocks – brilliant.
“Meanwhile, in Thailand, my kids were learning about an entirely different culture – they saw temples, met people from halfway across the world, tried new foods, swam with tropical fish, learned about the Asian elephants and their history, even fed them, they even learned some Thai phrases, but no, according to the system that’s not valuable education.”
Tash stressed that her kids learnt more in Thailand than what they would have whilst in school, as she praised their trip for teaching her youngsters life skills, as well as more about history, geography and empathy, which she claimed “you can’t teach in a classroom”.
Tash acknowledged that she will pay the fine because the system says she has to, but admitted she “absolutely” does not regret it.
Tash then questioned why there isn’t any flexibility with this ‘joke’ of a rule.
The Department for Education (DfE) revealed statistics that showed 443,322 fines were issued for unauthorised school time holidays in 2023/24 – a sharp increase from the 356,181 the previous year.
The DfE website reads: “Every moment in school counts and days missed add up quickly.
“Evidence shows that pupils who have good attendance enjoy better wellbeing and school performance than those who don’t.
Apparently me and my husband are criminals now because we wanted to give our children a once in a lifetime experience
Tash
“In the majority of cases, schools and local authorities will try and provide support to help you improve your child’s attendance first, but if this isn’t effective or the absence is for unauthorised term time holiday, parents may face paying a fine.”
Tash also stressed that she isn’t saying education isn’t important and explained that she is the first one to help her kids with their homework and make sure that they are doing well.
But despite this, she argued: “Surely there’s some room for some common sense here? A parent/teacher agreement, because at the moment, I feel like we’re being punished for trying to give our children a richer life.”
She went on and asked her TikTok followers: “Has anyone else been fined for taking their kids on holiday? I’d love to know, because I bet I’m not the only one that thinks this whole system is ridiculous.”
What school fines can parents receive?
THE main issue that can lead to parents receiving a fine is missing school.
Currently, it’s the decision of the local council whether or not to issue a parent a fine for their child missing school.
However, from August this year, the fine for absences will up to the school to consider – when a child has missed 10 or more sessions for unauthorised reasons.
And the fine will be £80 if paid within 21 days, or £160 if paid within 28 days – this is issued to EACH parent.
It’s the first time the fine has been increased since 2012, and is in line with inflation.
If a parent receives a second fine for the same child within three years, this will automatically be charged at the higher rate of £160.
Fines will be capped at two fines within a three-year period.
After this limit has been reached, prosecution or a parenting order may be considered.
According to the official government website, there are only five reasons your child should be absent from school if the school is open.
These are as follows:
Your child is too ill to attend that day
You have asked in advance and been given permission by the school for your child to be absent on that day due to exceptional circumstances
Your child cannot attend school on that day because it is a day you are taking part in religious observance
Your local authority is responsible for arranging your child’s transport to school and it is not available on that day or has not been provided yet
You are a gypsy/traveller family with no fixed abode, and you are required to travel for work that day meaning your child cannot attend their usual school
Big divide
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @mother_stress_head, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 82,300 views.
But social media users were left totally divided by this mother’s clip – whilst many were eager to agree and slam the ‘ridiculous’ rules, others weren’t quite as on board.
Ridiculous. This really annoys me
TikTok user
One person said: “You’re lucky you’ve just got a fine, I’ve been taken straight to court.”
Another added: “You are very right.. more can be learnt outside the classroom.”
A third commented: “Ridiculous. This really annoys me, they will have learnt so much in Thailand – incredible experience for them.”
Wouldn’t even dare think of taking my kids out of school, it’s the most important time in their life
TikTok user
However, at the same time, one woman snapped: “Rightly so. There are enough school holidays.”
A second chimed in: “Meanwhile they missed seven days of curriculum so will be behind their peers, how will they catch up! Take them during summer!”
Whilst someone else wrote: “Wouldn’t even dare think of taking my kids out of school, it’s the most important time in their life.”

The study revealed that Brits favourite noise in the kitchen is the sound of ice cubes being dropped into a glass of drink.
Hot food sizzling in a pan came in second and butter being spread on toast came in third.
Gill Riley, spokesperson for the nation’s best-selling meat alternative brand, said: “Our kitchen is the heartbeat of most homes, all year round it is filled with sounds and smells that we love, and even more so around Valentine’s Day.
“This definitive list of top sounds is satisfying in itself, showing how many noises we hear and create in the kitchen which make us feel content.
“The crunch, pop or crisp of foods helps inspire what people reach for as a snack or cook up for a family meal.”
Almost a third (33 per cent) revealed they feel hungry after hearing particular ‘food sounds,’ while 47 per cent claim they could recognise culinary noises with their eyes closed.
And nearly half of the group surveyed believed that certain foods taste better because of the sound they make while being cooked.
A quarter of those polled via OnePoll watch ASMR food related content on social media, with 44 per cent of them claiming it’s satisfying and 41 per cent finding it relaxing.
Gill Riley added: “The nation loves listening to and watching food content on social media, proving how satisfying the concept of a good crunch is when biting into a nugget.
“It’s interesting to see how much influence all the senses have on what we eat.
“People are looking for delicious taste that comes with an equally delicious sound and smell.”
Quorn’s research found that 63% of Brits said that their favourite kitchen smell was the scent of freshly baked bread.
The brand’s research came as they launched their new Cheesy Nacho Nugs, which are a perfect addition to a vegetarian Mexican dinner.
Quorn have created a quiz to test shoppers’ kitchen knowledge, alongside the new Nacho Nugs.
The Ultimate Kitchen Sounds Quiz is available to play on Quorn’s website and asks players to name everyday kitchen sounds.

February 12, 2025New York StateComments Off on Loose Women’s Kelle Bryan hints she’s signed up for Louis Theroux’s Girlbands Forever documentary after Eternal fallout
LOOSE Women star Kelle Bryan has hinted she would be up for taking part in Louis Theroux’s brand new documentary delving into the history of girlbands.
The star rose to fame as one of the founding members of popular 90s group Eternal alongside Louise Redknapp and sisters Vernie and Easther Bennett.
GettyKelle Bryan has opened up to The Sun about taking part in Girlbands Forever[/caption]
RexKelle rose to fame in the band in the 90s but they have since had an epic fallout[/caption]
GettyLouis’s new documentary will explore the history of girl groups and the culture behind them[/caption]
The band were even scheduled to get back together but were torn apart following Vernie and Easther’s refusal to perform at LGBTQ pride events the band had been booked for claiming contradictions with their personal beliefs.
Kelle and Louise have maintained a dignified silence in the wake of the split but it seems that Kelle would be open to talking about her time in the band, including the difficulties with her bandmates if she were to join Louis’s new programme.
The documentary is a follow-up to Boybands Forever which featured tonnes of former boyband stars, including Robbie Williams and Ritchie Neville, as they delved into the history of the music industry and the dark secrets that followed them around.
Confirming she had yet to be approached for Girlbands Forever, Kelle exclusively told The Sun at the TV Choice Awards: “With Louis doing this programme, it is going to be really interesting – he’s a fantastic journalist.
“Back then, it was a very different time and there was no chance of instant success like many people have now.
“We used to have to go from school to school to club to club to promote our music and we’d always get people who were drunk spilling their drinks over you.
“The music industry now isn’t really like it was for us back in the day”.
Despite having yet to receive the call, Kelle admitted it would be a no brainer to sign up for the programme.
Kelle said: “Yes, I’d absolutely love to do it. Talking about the history of everything and looking back at it all.
“These documentaries are actually exploring what really happened, how that fame was founded and what you had to do in order to breakthrough.
“It was nothing like it is now and all those things are want people find really interesting and want to know about.”
Kelle admitted she would love to talk about the “personal” changes the industry has gone through if she were to sign up for the documentary as she revealed how artists and acts were allowed to build stronger and more meaningful connections with their fans in the 90s than many are able to do now.
Louis’s programme Girlbands Forever plans to explore some of the secrets behind some of Britain’s biggest bands and to tell the public that it wasn’t always as rosy backstage as it may have seemed.
Many bands have been plagued by rumours of fighting, jealousy and rivalry with these topics also having been confronted head-on by their male counterparts in Louis’s boyband documentary.
Recalling her time in the band, Kelle admitted “it was intense” amid the pressure of being in the spotlight.

Eternal were a huge success in the late 90sRex Features
In 2023, Vernie and Easther were caught up in a much-publicised row with Louise and Kelle, after the sisters were accused of saying they would only take part in an Eternal reunion if no Pride or LGBTQ+ festivals were included in the planned gigs for last summer.
Louise and Kelle went on to say they would not be a part of the reunion if that was the case and distanced themselves from the sisters.
At the time, the group’s manager Denis Ingoldsby issued a statement in defence of Vernie and Easther and said: “This is about the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children.
“Vernie said she had some concerns about the Pride movement being hijacked, and she is not alone, but this has now been weaponised against her.”
Last month, it was revealed that her two ex-bandmates had hired a brand new singer to replace Kelle and Louise in Eternal in order to get their show on the road once more amid the fallout.
They told us: “There were several years of requests to reform the original line-up and months of discussions.
“There were several reasons why we declined to tour at that time — like contractual issues, work commitments. There was also a genuine desire to maintain a life away from the business.
“When we were approached for the last time, we decided again that what was being proposed was not truly focused on an Eternal reunion project and also they didn’t align with our family priorities.
“A lot was written about that decision but none of it represents our views or values as a band.”

A FERAL mum screamed “I’ll f***ing kill you” as she dragged a rival parent to the ground and kicked her in the face at the school gates.
Jessica Kitching, 25, was collecting her daughter from school when she launched into the savage attack on the other mum.

The pair’s two children were friends but had falling out during the holidays.
Kitching pulled the victim to the ground by her ponytail and knelt on her chest in front of horrified school kids.
The thug then repeatedly kicked the woman in the face as she begged her to stop, Lancs Live reports.
As Kitching was dragged away by a pal, she yelled out: “I know where you live. I’ll f***ing kill you.”
She pleaded guilty to assault occasioning ABH but was spared jail as her daughter would suffer.
Kitching was instead handed a 30 week sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Preston Crown Court was told the horror attack unfolded in Lancaster in September 2023.
The victim was taken to hospital with grazes and bruises to her face and a suspected hairline fracture on her nose.
In a statement, she said she was embarrassed and humiliated to have been attacked on the school run in front of other parents and children.
The mum told the court she considered changing her child’s school as a result and was also left terrified that Kitching would come to her home.
Since the attack the children have played out together and there have been no further incidents, she added.
The court heard Kitching, who has no previous convictions, is ashamed of her vile actions.
As well as a suspended sentence, she was ordered to complete 15 days of rehabilitation activities and complete 60 hours of unpaid work.
Sentencing, Recorder Ayesha Siddiqi said: “This happened near a school and in the presence of children.
“You were unable to control your behaviour in front of the children.
“She must have been terrified by being pulled to the floor and kicked by you. There was the use of a shod foot as a weapon.
“Your behaviour that day was appalling.”
