That leaves Chas reeling
ITV

John is desperate to win over Chas, but his plans take a wild turn when he throws a surprise engagement bash for her and Liam at The Woolpack.

Keen to impress, Aaron makes sure John gets the credit – but the night takes an awkward twist when Ella accidentally gatecrashes.

Things heat up when John drops to one knee and pops the question to Aaron, who says yes!

But their moment of joy is quickly ruined when Mandy overhears and announces their engagement to the entire pub.

Chas is far from thrilled, and as she secretly shares her doubts with Aaron, she has no idea John is eavesdropping.

Tensions mount as John grows paranoid over Chas’ disapproval – and with Ella badmouthing Chas behind closed doors, things soon reach boiling point.

A spilled drink sparks a furious bust-up between Chas and Ella, leaving the whole village gossiping.

But the drama doesn’t stop there.

As John worries about his standing with Chas, she suddenly collapses in the pub, hitting her head.

Will John be the one to save her – and finally get on her good side?

Meanwhile, some fans of the ITV soap think John could be Nate’s killer – meaning Aaron could be in danger marrying a murderer!

Viewers know that it was Nate’s body that was found in the lake after the deadly limo crash.

While there are other suspects, there is a lot of evidence that points to John.

John was the last person to see Nate alive and he told everyone Nate had left the village, but Nate was never seen again.

Soap's biggest whodunnits

EastEnders – Who shot Phil Mitchell?

The “Who Shot Phil?” storyline was a whodunit mystery that captured the attention of viewers and the media. The episode revealing the culprit was watched by 23 million viewers. Lisa Shaw, Phil Mitchell’s former girlfriend and the mother of his child Louise, was revealed as the killer as Phil slept with Lisa’s best friend. Phil forgave Lisa, and they agreed to keep the truth a secret.

Coronation Street – Who killed Tina McIntyre ?

The popular actress Michelle Keegan played Tina McIntyre for several years on the Cobbles, but she ended up being killed by Rob Donovan in a tragic turn of events back in 2014 when he chased her onto the balcony of the Builder’s Yard. When she tried to leave, he pushed her and she fell off the roof, with Rob convinced he killed her. With Tina still alive, he attacked her with an iron bar but she survived that attack and was rushed to hospital as doctors tried to save her.

Emmerdale – Who pushed Emma Barton?

Emma was then pushed off a viaduct by Moira after she talked ill of her dead daughter Holly, who died of an overdose in October 2017. Although Moira was responsible for Emma’s death, her son, Adam Barton, took the fall for the murder since he was already a prime suspect and he didn’t want Isaac to grow up motherless.

Hollyoaks – Glove Hand Killer

The Gloved Hand Killer was a mystery serial killer, who claimed the lives of 7 characters between January and October 2015, all by injecting them with potassium chloride. The Gloved Hand Killer’s targets were all people who had done wrong in some shape or form. There were 6 suspects for who the Gloved Hand Killer was, and the killer’s identity was revealed in October 2015. It was revealed to be doctor Lindsey Butterfield who had been killing people at the hospital.

John was seen in his camper van in the days after Nate’s disappearance, and he also helped cover up the death of Anthony Fox.

Other suspects in Nate’s murder are Caleb Milligan, Manpreet Sharma and Nate’s biological father, Cain Dingle.

But who is the true killer?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.

M&S shoppers rush to buy popular Oodie dupe scanning for £4 instead of £20

M&S shoppers are rushing to buy a popular Oodie dupe scanning for £4 instead of £20.

The posh retailer has slashed the price of a Teddy Fleece hooded blanket that’s ideal for keeping you toasty on colder nights.

M&S is selling a hooded teddy fleece for £4 at one of its branches[/caption]

One shopper posted the find, which they found in their local store in Colchester, Essex, on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.

Fellow bargain hunters have been quick to comment on the post saying how it’s perfect for vulnerable or elderly people.

One said: “I’ve bought my 83-year-old dad three of these.

“He used to wrap himself in a blanket but now loves toddling round the house cozy in his hoodies.”

Another commented: “They are brilliant I have mobility issues and have one myself. They are so lovely and warm and soft too.”

Meanwhile, a third added: “A good idea for older people.”

If you don’t live near Colchester and fancy one of the £4 hooded blankets, it’s worth calling your local branch to see if they have any in stock at that price.

Remember you can find your nearest M&S branch by using the store locator tool on its website.

We had a look online but M&S doesn’t appear to have this brand on its website.

It has slashed prices on a host of kids oversized warm hoodies though, with prices starting from just £5.50.

Of course, as is the case with any product, always shop around to ensure you’re getting the best price for it.

The Trolley website is useful for comparing prices on supermarket products.

Meanwhile, you can use price comparison websites like Price Spy and PriceRunner which scans prices across a wider pool of retailers.

You can always use the Shopping/Product tab on Google to quickly scan the internet as well.

We used this tab to see if any other retailers are selling an oversized adult hooded blanket for less than £4, but couldn’t find any.

Dunelm has one on its website for £11.20 while Online Home Shop is also selling one for £8 down from £15.

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

How to stay warm for less

Start by warming yourself up rather than the room itself.

We tested a heated gillet and worked out it could save you hundreds of pounds on your energy bills.

Electric blankets can be fitted to your bed to keep you warm overnight too, costing just pennies to run per hour.

Heated throws are ideal if you’re looking to keep warm on the sofa while watching your favourite TV show too.

You don’t have to buy gadgets that need powering up either.

A classic water bottle is one of the oldest tricks in the book for keeping warm without blasting on the central heating.

Dunelm has cut prices on some in its latest clearance sale, with prices starting from just £1.25.

Or, you can use draught excluders to keep any heat from your home locked in for longer.

Evelyn wants to support her drug-addicted daughter[/caption]

Returning to Weatherfield, scenes yet to air reveal how fractured Evelyn’s family has become.

Cassie was recently discovered to have been drugging and stealing from Ken Barlow (William Roache).

And as Evelyn opens her birthday presents, she shares her concern with Fiz and Tyrone.

The fan favourite says needs to help her drug-addicted daughter – rather than push her away.

Tracy later reveals how Cassie had spent the night in the ginnel – adding to Evelyn’s worry.

Cassie is desperate for a fix and therefore decides to call up a dealer.

They arrange a meet-up in the precinct, but are thwarted by Roy Cropper – who threatens to call the police.

Ultimately, Evelyn offers to give up her studies in order to take care of Cassie.

The Sun previously told how Maureen, 78, would be stepping back as a full-time cast member on Coronation Street.

The actress is taking a step back from her role as Evelyn to “enjoy life”, she exclusively told us.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Maureen said: “I’ll be absent for a while, and then coming back.

“I’m not going to die but then I’ll be in and out of it because I want to have a bit of a life.

“David and I are thinking of having a bit of a gap year.”

And she’s got her eye on new roles, adding: “I’m waiting to see what’s out there once I’m out there.

“There’s got to be something that Lesley Manville and Brenda Blethyn and Harriet Walters don’t play that I could do.”

Darkest soap storylines

Over the years the likes of EastEndersEmmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock…

  • EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) – Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca’s adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police.
  • Emmerdale: Holly’s drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) – In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale’s first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose.
  • Hollyoaks: Luke’s rape (2000) – Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap’s first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs – who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance.
  • Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) – Just a mere mention of ‘Richard Hillman’ is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it’s not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn’t.
  • She arrived on the cobbles in 2018, being introduced as Tyrone’s long-lost biological grandmother.

Evelyn initially told Tyrone how Cassie – his birth mother – had died of a heroin overdose.

This was revealed to be a lie – with Cassie herself arriving in Weatherfield two years ago.
