Dancing On Ice finale brings in lowest EVER viewing figures amid rumours show will be axed

THE Dancing On Ice finale brought in the lowest ever viewing figures, amid rumours the show will be axed.

Coronation Street star Sam Ashton was crowned champ in Sunday night’s emotional final, after battling it out against former West Ham United legend Anton Ferdinand, 40, and Springwatch host Michaela Strachan.

But it was the Chesney Brown actor that came out on top after he impressed judges and viewers with his performances.

Despite the nail-biting finale, the show, which is fronted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, received its lowest ever viewing figures of 2.7million.

This makes the final the least watched ever, and viewing figures have crashed from a peak of 12million.

Dancing On Ice has been on screens for nearly 20 years, but insiders say bosses will make a decision this week about the future of the ITV mainstay.

The show has been on our screens since 2006 and had a break in 2014.

It returned four years later with the legendary Hayne Torvill and Christopher Dean swapping their roles to become mentors instead of judges.

Insiders add that it is costly to produce and may need a revamp — just as it did on its relaunch in 2018 after being withdrawn four years earlier.

A source said: “The staffers on Dancing On Ice are saying the show is over and claim they’ve been told as much.

“It’s a mainstay of ITV’s schedule and viewing figures are remarkably less than they were but they still had almost three million watch the launch show.

“There’s no denying, though, that the format has become tired and they’re not getting the big names they once did.

“Changes are needed and it’s likely it’ll be rested and given a new lease of life.”

The source added: “The show’s future hinges on the meetings that follow last night’s finale.

“Dancing On Ice is an expensive production and there are questions over whether ITV is getting bang for its buck.

“Staff working on it aren’t holding out much hope.”

Olympic dance champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean hinted they were unsure about its future and will no longer perform on the show.

Christopher said: “If Dancing On Ice continues, we will just come back as judges.”

He explained 50 years of performing “takes its toll on the body”.

The Olympic champions will soon hang up their blades after 50 years of incredible performances when they take to the road for a UK arena tour titled Our Last Dance.

The medal-winning pairing announced their plans to leave the ice behind earlier this year.

Though it was a big decision, Christopher, 66, admitted they were ready.

He said: “We’ve been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn’t be doing it now, so we’re just happy that we can still do it.”

Once their skating commitments are fulfilled, Jane plans to soak up the sun and play tennis with husband Phil Christensen in Spain where they have a holiday home.

Meanwhile Christopher and his partner Karen are buying a motorhome to travel around the UK.

MANCHESTER CITY have brought the curtain down on Gareth Taylor’s reign as manager of their Women’s Super League side.

Today the club announced their decision to part ways with the head coach, 52, just under a week before their League Cup decider duel with Chelsea.

Former City Women’s boss Nick Cushing will return to take charge of the side on a temporary basis.

The Chester-born head coach managed City for seven years from 2013 guiding the team to their first and only WSL title triumph to date in 2016.

Taylor’s departure comes with the Cityzens currently sitting fourth in the top tier after winning 10 of the 16 league games they have played so far this term.

The team are fourth and one point and one place outside of the WSL’s top three spots for Champions League qualification.

This follows them losing four and drawing two of their league games this season.

In a statement, Man City’s women’s managing director Charlotte O’Neill said: “Manchester City prides itself on competing at the top of the WSL and on its outstanding record of qualifying for European competition.

“Unfortunately, results this season have so far not reached this high standard.

“With six games of the WSL campaign remaining, we believe that a change of management will breathe fresh life into our bid to ensure qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Gareth for all of his efforts during his many years at City.

“Our FA Cup and League Cup triumphs will remain special moments in the history of this football club.”

“We wish him all the best for the future.”

City’s decision to end Taylor’s reign comes just over 12 months after he signed a three-year deal with the club to remain in charge of their women’s side.

During his tenure of almost five years at City’s helm, Taylor guided the team to an FA Cup win after a 3-1 defeat of Everton in May 2020.

This was followed by a League Cup triumph in March 2022 when his side beat Emma Hayes’ Chelsea 3-1 at Plough Lane.

This season Man City have lost ground in the race for the WSL title with leaders Chelsea 12 points ahead at the summit.

Recent results include a 1-1 draw with ninth-placed West Ham on March 5 with Manuela Pavi netting a stoppage-time equaliser following Khadija Shaw’s 80th-minute goal.

Away from the pitch City were at the centre of a dramatic transfer saga this January with Chloe Kelly sealing a loan move to Arsenal.

The departure of the forward, who netted England’s tournament-winning goal at the 2022 Euros, followed her struggle for minutes this term.

After making six WSL appearances for the team this season, Kelly issued a bombshell exit plea before making her January 30 Arsenal switch.

Her current contract with City, whom she joined in July 2020, is set to expire in June.

Since joining the Gunners the forward netted her first league goal of the season in their 4-3 defeat of West Ham last weekend.

On Sunday Man City reached the semis of this year’s FA Cup after beating Aston Villa 2-0 in the quarter-final.

They will face neighbours Man United in the contest’s semi-finals next month.

‘This needs to be illegal’ people say as artist shows cover-up of bad tattoo and somehow makes it even WORSE

A TATTOO artist received backlash online after sharing a coverup job of one customer’s ink.

People said they would “press charges” if the left the parlour with the same result.

In her viral video, TikTok user and tattoo artist Ariel Dejesus (@arieldejesus2) shared a recent coverup she did for a customer.

The clip, which amassed 5.9 million views, caused a stir online as people shared their honest opinion on the new ink.

Originally, the tattoo, located on the side of the unnamed woman’s neck, said “Faith over fear”.

The inspirational phrase also included a feathered arrow piercing the words.

“I just don’t like the way it looks, you know how over time things change?” the customer explained.

“I said this is still a belief of course, I think I’m going to get it somewhere else.”

She decided to coverup the words on her neck, giving Ariel control over what her new ink would be.

The tattoo pro revealed that she charges $160 (£124) for any coverups.

After prepping the skin, the tattoo artist did a dramatic reveal for her audience.

She uncovered that tattoo to reveal a large colourful cupcake in place of the words.

Heaped with icing, the sweet treat was topped with a cherry and had four gold stars next to it.

Despite the busy design, the stencil of the words was still vaguely visible under the colours.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the tattoo coverup in the comments section.

“I would press charges,” wrote one shocked viewer, while another joked: “This need to be illegal”.

“Full refund to that poor woman,” agreed another outraged follower.

Tattoo Do's and Don'ts

    1. Think, think and think some more

Tattoos done on a whim are far more likely to lead to regret than a tattoo you thought long and hard about. Think about why you want what you’ve chosen. And if you still want it after a few months, then get it.

    2. Age restrictions apply

You must be 18 years old to be tattooed in the UK.

    3. Don’t haggle over the price

When you go to a tattoo shop the price is the price. You are paying for an artist’s time and skills, they charge what they believe those things are worth.

    4. Don’t get tattooed while you’re hungry

Eat before you go for your tattoo session and make sure you’re hydrated. You’re about to be subjected to a period of sustained physical discomfort, if you’re feeling a little weak from hunger or you’re dehydrated things will not go as smoothly as they should.

    5. Don’t drink alcohol before you get tattooed

If you are drunk or under the influence of drugs, don’t go for a tattoo. In fact, if your tattooist has anything at all about them they will turn you away if you are clearly under the influence of any intoxicating substances.  I’d also avoid drinking the night before, even a few drinks will thin your blood and make your bleed more.

“Oh, you ruined her life,” said a third commenter.

“This would be my 13th reason,” shared another baffled TikTok user.

“The four different stars? The colour scheme? Omggggg, no,” wrote one viewer.

“Yeah, I’m opening up a laser tattoo removal shop next door to you,” joked another person.

“How to turn a small problem into a big problem 101,” commented one follower.
