Katherine Ryan shares ultimate mum hack that gets the kids & hubby out the house every Sunday so you can have a lie in

MUMS never get a day off – never mind getting a lie in.

But Katherine Ryan, 41, has revealed the ultimate hack that ensures mums across the UK get a lie-in every single Sunday.

The mum has three children: Violet, 15, from a previous relationship, and Fred, 3, and Fenna, 2, with her husband Bobby Kootstra.

And now she has shared the best way to get them out of the house so she can relax in bed.

Taking to TikTok, the mum shared the hack as she curled up in bed with no children or husband to distract her.

She said: “Sign your kids up for Rugby, if they’re two, if they’re three, I think you could be 18 months and play Rugby.”

The mum revealed the slots were super convenient and the comedian even said a woman must have created the schedule.

Most rugby classes are held at 9am on a Sunday, and while Katherine went to the first class, she’s now off the hook as Bobby is in charge of going.

” I walked into a room of just dads,” Katherine explained. “Dads who were so excited, who felt like their two year old might be in Six Nations.

“And these dads have Rugby outfits, and they’re all competitive and excited.

“And I said to one of the dads, ‘Where’s your wife, huh? Where’s their mother at?’ Because of internalised misogyny, cause I was the only woman there.

“And this dad was like, ‘Oh, my wife sleeps in on Sundays.’

“And I was like, ‘Have you considered leaving her for me? What?'”

Then Katherine realised it’s an activity her husband actually wants to do with the kids as he’ll be around other dads and can be passionate about the game.

The dads will beg you to stay home in bed.

“They are motivated to take the kids to Rugby,” she added. “And he doesn’t even want me to come.

“He says I ruined the Rugby. I’m not motivational enough for the kids.”

“The dads will beg you to stay home in bed and they will take your toddlers to rugby every f**king Sunday,” she said as she snuggled into her duvet.

The clip went viral on her TikTok account and mums were quick to thank her for the tip.

Another commented: “My husband signed my daughter up for rugby at 2, now she’s 8 and he helps coach them… They’re out until midday every Sunday and they bring me home McDonald’s. The dream!”

“Even when I thought I could not think this lady is more awesome,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I’m a Rugby Tots dad and this is all true to be fair. I love it.”

“This might be the best parenting hack,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “You’re doing God’s work Katherine! this is brilliant.”

Girl, 15, raped by man she met at seaside funfair who bought her vodka before locking her in flat & pushing her onto bed

A SEASIDE sexual predator took advantage of a 15-year-old girl and raped her at his flat after meeting at a funfair.

Mehmed Mehmed, 41, bought the teen vodka and lured her to his shared-house home where he locked her in his bedroom in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.

The unsuspecting girl had been drinking earlier in the day and had been to the beach, Hull Crown Court heard.

Mehmed denied raping the girl on August 18, 2020 but he was convicted by a jury after a retrial.

A previous jury was discharged on May 5 last year after it was unable to reach a verdict.

Mehmed was convicted by another jury on January 8 this year after a second trial.

Richard Davies, prosecuting, said that the 15-year-old girl spent the day in Bridlington and went to the beach and the harbour area.

She went to the funfair with friends in the evening.

She was drinking while at the fair and she and other girls met a group of men, including Mehmed. More drinks were bought for the girl and her friends by Mehmed and his group.

The girl was the equivalent for alcohol of five or six times over the drink-driving limit.

They ended up at Mehmed’s home, where he began to kiss her and he “steered her” into a bedroom while supposedly showing her where the bathroom was.

“Once inside, he locked the door behind them,” said Mr Davies. Mehmed pushed the girl onto the bed and raped her, despite her trying to push him away and telling him that she did not want to have sex with him.

There was some knocking on the door and the girl seized the opportunity to escape.

The police found her outside. “She told them repeatedly that she had not wanted to have sex,” said Mr Davies.

Mehmed was arrested and he accepted that he met the girl and her friend. He claimed that they asked him for money to buy vodka so he bought vodka for them.

He claimed that he thought that she was 17 and that they had sex with her consent.

The girl later said that, after the incident, she “felt disgusting and dirty” and had “a lot of self-loathing”.

She suffered from nightmares and paranoia. “I suffered from flashbacks and could see his face imprinted in my head,” she said.

“It has affected my daily life. Going into town, I would avoid any areas where I thought he might see me.

He has walked towards me on the Promenade in the past. I felt I could not just go out with my friends in case I bumped into him.

“I take medication for my anxiety. I have felt mentally traumatised since the incident. My relationships have been affected. I am not trusting of men.

“I am grateful to the criminal justice system for securing the perpetrator’s conviction.”

Tayo Dasaolu, mitigating, said that Mehmed had no previous convictions in this country or his native Bulgaria and he acted, during the rape, out of character.

There were references for him as a friend and a dedicated work colleague. He was hardworking and he had an exemplary work ethic.

He was married and had two children in Bulgaria.

Mehmed was jailed for eight years. He was given an indefinite restraining order and he must register as a sex offender for life.

Who is David Browning and how did long did the married father of two get for murdering Jillian Howell?

DAVID Browning chillingly confessed to killing his boss Jillian Howell in 2017.

The horrific crime and Browning’s conviction are examined in the Channel 5 true crime series A Killer Makes a Call – here’s everything you need to know.

Who is David Browning?

In October 2017, David Browning arrived at Brighton police station and calmly told officers that he had killed his boss – 46-year-old Jillian Howell.

At the time of her death, Ms Howell worked in the payroll department at the University of Brighton.

Browning, a married father-of-two, also worked in the University’s finance department and had done so since 1989.

Work environment

When Ms Howell joined the department in 2015, she became Browning’s manager.

Browning had initially claimed there was a “toxic” working environment at the university and said that Ms Howell would ‘’take to task’’ by shouting, humiliating, and belittling them on occasion – although later admitting this was embellished.

Despite initial friction between the pair, the court heard that Browning and Ms Howell later became close after Browning struggled with depression following the loss of his father.

After hearing the news, Ms Howell, who also volunteered for the Samaritans, began to support Browning as his boss.

Brutal attack

On October 26, 2017, after meeting Ms Howel at her home address for further support, Browning confided in his boss about his mental state.

However, the jury was told that after speaking with Ms Howel, Browning feared that she would try to get him sectioned.

As she got up to put on her shoes, Browning attacked Ms Howell, stabbing her multiple times.

He also wrote the word ”bully” on her body and graffiti had been sprayed on the walls suggesting that Ms Howell’s friend and former detective Sean McDonald was complicit in the crime.

Browning then left her body in the lounge for up to six hours before calling 999 from outside the police station.

After admitting to officers where and when the crime took place, Browning added: “Front door’s left open. When you go in there are some shotgun shells on the table. Two boxes.”

Officers then arrived at the scene, where Ms Howell was found dead.

After discovering the graffiti scrawled on the walls, police soon uncovered Browning’s elaborate plot to shift the blame onto Sean McDonald and he was later eliminated from the investigation.

Justice for Jillian

Browning initially denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

However, in May 2018, he was found guilty of murder at Hove Crown Court and sentenced to 28 years in prison.

In his closing argument to the court, Prosecutor Alan Gardner pointed out that Browning had never given a proper explanation for why he killed Ms Howell, but said the violent attack came after he found she didn’t share his romantic feelings.

Mr Gardner explained: “He plainly became attracted to her.

“But, on October 26 last year, he discovered she didn’t have the same feelings as him. She rejected him and Mr Browning reacted with anger and violence, that is the reality of the case, the prosecution says.

”This was a crime driven by those feelings…of anger, jealousy, betrayal, those sort of things.’’

In court, sentencing Judge Christine Laing QC added: ”I am quite satisfied that what led to you killing her was a very ordinary cocktail of human emotions, desire, jealousy, frustration and anger.

”Jillian did more than most people would have done to support you as a concerned colleague and friend but it is plain you wanted to be more important or special to her than that.

”I have watched you closely during this trial and you have shown no emotion and little remorse other than for your own situation.”

My hair began falling out & I was nearly bald a year before my wedding, I used a 10p step every day to regrow it in time

A BRIDE-TO-BE shared her miraculous hair growth in the lead up to her big day.

She showed off her impressive transformation over a 12 month period.

TikTok account Soul Sprout Healthy and Beauty (@soulsprout.store) shared the woman’s “hair growth journey” in a viral video.

The clip amassed 5.1 million views as the bride revealed the daily step that made all the difference.

In the video, she revealed that her hair began falling out the year before she was supposed to walk down the aisle.

She was officially diagnosed with alopecia in the months leading up to her wedding.

“It’s the worst news a bride could receive,” the woman reflected in the clip.

However, she decided to take every effort she could to regrow her locks.

In January 2024, the woman started documenting her regrowth journey.

She tried various methods for transforming her balding scalp before she found her holy grail item.

The bride shared a picture of her nearly bald scalp, which only feature sparse strands of hair.

She also included images of her progress before eventually showing off the results.

Just before her wedding, her locks had grown back as long and thick as ever.

And the item that helped transform them, is the Yecuce Hair Treatment Serum Capsules, available in a pack of 60 for £5.99 from Amazon.

This breaks down to just 10p per capsule, which included argan, macadamia, and argan oils.

They also have vitamins A, C, E, and B5 and are designed for no rinse use.

According to manufacturers, the capsules “penetrate deep into the hair follicles, providing essential nutrients and moisture”.

Hair Loss 101

HAIR pro Samantha Cusick has revealed everything you need to know about hair loss.

Why Does Hair Loss Happen?

Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices.

Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength.

It’s perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors.

Why It Happens More This Time of Year

Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That’s seasonal shedding!

During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun.

As the weather cools, it’s like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands.

Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months.

Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss

The great news? You don’t need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair.

Try daily scalp massages—they’re so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles.

Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that’s rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands.

Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health.

Products to Avoid

Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens – they can be drying and damage hair over time.

Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly.

Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons.

As well as helping to boost growth, the product helps to “repair damage, reducing split ends and breakage for visibly healthier hair”.

“I would apply it to my hair every time after washing my hair,” the bride said.

The capsules can be applied to both dry or damp hair.

She also took care to oil her hair regularly to nourish her locks and encourage further regrowth.

The bride-to-be shared a “pre-wedding photo”, revealing that she was “feeling pretty”.

The White Lotus airs shocking full frontal scene as guest flashes in surprise scenes

THE White Lotus left viewers absolutely stunned with a shocking full frontal scene.

As fans know, the HBO series doesn’t shy away from showcasing nudity in certain moments.

The latest episode featured Jason Isaacs’ character Timothy Ratliff in a brief full frontal scene.

In reality, the show accomplished this shock moment by using a prop.

Financier Timothy is staying at The White Lotus in Thailand with his family.

Wife Victoria (Parker Posey) mentioned some of her Lorazepam pills – unaware her husband had taken some.

Although not a regular Lorazepam user, Timothy has been stressed out upon learning he may face a long jail stint.

Meanwhile, daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) asked why Victoria needed the pills.

Her mother explained that it is to help with nerves in social situations.

Continuing, Piper brought up the private club attended by the family – as Timothy appeared to realise that his friends would soon know about his shady background.

Sat in a chair clad only in a robe, Timothy then decided to stretch out.

The robe lifted up and exposed Timothy’s genitals to his children, who immediately covered their eyes.

Quickly adjusting the robe, Victoria went on to find the incident slightly amusing.

Viewers, meanwhile, took to social media to share their thoughts about the scene.

One wrote: “Again, I never want to hear anyone say that there’s not enough full-frontal male nudity on TV. HBO alone has the quota covered.”

Another penned: “Me: *Is he completely naked under that robe?* ….yes, yes he was, I did NOT have Jason Isaacs full-frontal on my White Lotus S3 bingo card lmaooo.”

While a third chimed in: “This man did not just flash his own kids.”

Earlier in the season, the bare breasts of Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) were shown.

While Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) himself featured in a full frontal scene.

The White Lotus airs on HBO.
