Azam reveal staggering asking price for Kaizer Chies target Salum

Kaizer Chiefs might need to shift their attentions elsewhere after hearing about Feisal Salum’s eye-watering release clause.

Azam wants big money to release Salum

Via Soccer Laduma, Azam’s Media Officer Haashim Ibwe has mentioned a $10 million (R180 million) release clause attached to 27-year-old midfield schemer Feisal Salum. Chiefs will, however, be hoping that his current deal winds down and they can snap him up on a free transfer. His wage demands will be another stumbling block though. Currently, he wants in the region of R220k a month to stay with the Tanzanian giants beyond his current contract.

Amakhosi begin informal talks with Salum

According to the Citizen, Chiefs bosses have started discussions with Azam FC to sign their star 27-year-old midfield schemer Feisal Salum.

“Informal talks between Chiefs and Azam have already started, but as you know, until an offer has been submitted, there’ll be denials all over,” a source told the outlet. “But what I can tell you is that talks have indeed started,” the source added.

“Football is business, Azam may say now that they’re not willing to sell, but they know that they’ll have to sell if the player doesn’t want to renew his contract. They won’t want to risk losing him for free,” he concluded.

Petersen, Ben Youssef suspended

Amazingly, Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has picked up four bookings this season so he’ll not be in the dugout for their clash with the Citizens. Second choice keeper Brandon Petersen was dismissed against Stellenbosch in a recent encounter so he’s also suspended.

Zwane and Morris ruled out against the Citizens

Samkelo Zwane and Tashreeq Morris will play no part against City. That match is scheduled for Wednesday 12 March at 19:30 at FNB Stadium.

“[Wandile] Duba had his first training with the squad last week. Zwane is 100 percent out, completely out for the [CT City] game. Morris is probably going to take him three more weeks to come back, so he is out for this game, too.”

Can the Chiefs top brass negotiate a number lower than this?
